Hi, We always say it's 'I'd rather be lonely' by Loudon Wainwright (lyrics by request) But it really is 'Streets of London' by Ralph McTell which goes back to our hairy student days when he was at university in London. Not a particularly romantic song but it reminds us of the weekends I used to spend down there and waking early to go to the Portobello Road market. Gwynne |

That's funny, Gwynne. David always says Streets of London reminds him of our early days together, when we'd wander about after work and find lots of little, old pubs tucked away in the back-streets of Sarf London. LoL CB >|< X |

Hi Debs, The Melodians hit the lower reaches of the charts with “Sweet Sensation” still sounds great today. I love the sound on “Last Train to Expo ’67” they were a great group. Did you ever do the brilliant skin dance to “Israelites”? Great fun, same dance is done for the Instrumental “The Liquidator”, see the British Heart Foundation used that track for their ad a few years ago. Desmond is a brilliant guy, love him loads, hard pushed to meet a nicer bloke than Desmond, he is well and touring as usual, People still love to hear “Israelites” and “It Mek”, “You can get it if you really want”,” Song we used to sing” and “Sing A little song” and all his proper Reggae hits not just his chart entries. Debs you have great taste in music, well just wondering what happened to who you fell in love with while listening to the great Melodians? Got your blow dry done then? So you must be getting ready for bed soon, hey? LOL. Pat x |

Lucia yeah poor Louis Armstrong only remembered for his last years, his early Jazz stuff is a revelation, invented so many different styles of Jazz especially in the 1920's. If you ever fancy seeing him on film try 'High Society' from the 1950's with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly and Celeste Holm. Well worth checking out as Trommie Young and some of the original Jazz players are in the film with him 'High Society Calypso' is good (they sing it on the bus). There is a great song in it with Bing Crosby 'That's what they call Jazz' great fun. Wishing you look on that Lucia don't work too hard :-( Pat x |

Debs Brought him up right then hey? LOL good for you, my kids tell me to turn my music down cheek of them, although there are times they say nothing so I know what they like, they like the older Reggae stuff because when that's on they say nothing about turning it down, its so funny. In the car it's no choice Reggae Music or get out and walk. Yeah blast the music Sunday while I cook Rice and Peas as after that I am nodding off with the full belly so peace and quiet time, my kids then blast their music and I don't notice, its all fun in my house.LMHO Pat x |
