Debs Most people thought they were American, because of the sound but yeah they were from Liverpool, brilliant bunch of guys deserved success and that song still sounds great, I like 'Can you feel the force' too. Look for any compilation of 1970's and it should be on it, it was released in 1976 so check those CDs 'best of' or 'best of disco', 'best of 1976' whatever and it should be there, I still have my original copy in a picture sleeve, all the guys looking cool, and Amercian. LOL. Pat x |

LOL Debs even if I told you his name you may not know him but do you know the song 'Brown Girl In A Ring' by Boney M? it's a traditional song, it was the B side of their 'Rivers of Babylon' single well this singer was in a group called the Maytones (there was only two of them) he and his partner had a big hit with 'Brown Girl' well Boney M took his arrangement of that song and had a huge hit with it. Sugs who was a member of Madness took his Reggae arrangement of Paul Simon's 'Cecilia' in more recent times and had a big hit with that. He would not be known outside of the Reggae World, a great pity as this guy has a terrific voice and his music appeared in the reggae film 'Rockers' has lived in Toronto since 1980's a terrific person with a great talent, his sons are keeping up the tradition. Oh Debs used to wear myself out doing Boogie nights and the car wash lol. Well The Melodians wrote (from the bible) Rivers of Babylon and the Maytones arranged & sang 'Brown Girl', 'Cecilia', 'Money Worries' 'Rain From The Sky' and one of my favourites tracks called 'Madness' bet they were played at the Top Rank in Reading Reggae Nights if it was late 1970's. There is a great Trinidadian musician who is credited in Jamaica for his creation of the Rock Steady guitar but he plays the wildest steel drums his name is Lynn Taitt he is now in his 70's but is still playing live dates, he played the Jazz Festival with The Maytone they sent me a copy, wish I could have been there, awesome stuff.
