Hi Everyone I live on the border of Cheshire/Derbyshire and we have friends who live in Fritchley. Know Cauldwell's Mill very well - go quite often to buy the flour and have lunch there. Also take my sheep for selling at Bakewell market. My husband called at the Salt Box for his tea tonight on the way home from Nottingham. Small world isn't it .... ! Jxx

Thats how I know it .... by going to Stoke via Derby ....... easiest route is down A38 and then the A500 to Stoke .... but before all the new roads we had to go through Hatton ! Thank goodness for that ..it was really bothering me ... and I can't see it on my disc's ! We used to stop at the Salt Box for a drink ... we called it our half way point !! Elaine :-)

Hi Elaine my grandfather Francis Caudwell, came from Shirland, Delves, he was a carter at the Rowsley Mill, the Mill was built by his Uncle John Caudwell, whom lived at Amber Mill, Wessington, the Caudwells also farmed at Teversall, nr mansfield, and also went to America, the Mill at Rowsley cost £7000 in 1874 so quite a lot for them days, pity my great grandad was just a nephew, but related none the less.

Hello Elaine, yes I was born at Wilersley castle that is what is on my birth certificate I think it was a place for mothers to have their babys during the war my mother was in living in North London and the time and I still have the telegram she sent to my father after I was born it is one of my most treasured things as my father died when I was 6. Elaine, She's called Molly midnight because she's black and was a freeby because the owners just wanted to rehome the kittens. She was neutered and has the worst case of 'saggy baggy belly' that I've seen. Louise

Gary, I'll have to ask about 'Junction' ... my daughter has a lot to do with School bands .. around the Derbyshire area. I'll ring her later and find out ... would it have anything to do with Green Hill Workshop by any chance ? as the secondary school on Greenhill Lane has been closed for a few years now. I did attend the Junior School on Greenhill Lane when I lived in Darley Dale ! Louise, Yes, head for Thorntons !! but keep going into Swanwick ! on your left are the Cross Keys (opposite the Petrol Station) and then at the Crossroads on your left is the Steam Packet. If you turn left at crossroads your heading into Leabrooks. Turn right at Leabrooks and I live in Riddings ... quite near to the Greenhill ! We'll have to meet up in Alfreton probably next month ... yeah ? Elaine :-)
