Hi Mike. Ordered my copy for May through work today. I will be reading the 'alternative' June book. I just could not face Dave Pelzer at the moment. Thought you might be interested in this web-site I saw mentioned in a magazine. Jude, At last- did you get it? Dee, Anything that encourages youngsters is great. I'm fortunate had parents who read and encouraged me to. Has anyone started reading Mr Lawrence yet? I'm just finishing a book I'm reading so will start next week.

Just spotted this in a local paper ‘The first in a set of children’s novels has recently hit the shelves. SilverFin, written by Charlie Higson, features a 13 year old James Bond, 007, and his adventures at Eton in the 30’s.’ A book to entice those reluctant young readers, maybe Dee

Hi Laura I've read the David Pelzer books and have just ordered his brothers book - Will be interesting to find out what he has to say about it all. Have you come across it yet? Dee

Looking forward to getting started with all of these books and as was said you dont have to read all of them, you can choose the books you like the sound of. Not sure why some have been requested to be removed. I dont fancy some of them but wouldnt want to prevent others from reading them. Its a shame that people aren't going to give David Pelzers book a try. It is very upsetting, heartbreaking etc but if he is big enough to write about his ordeal surely it deserves to be read? A David Pelzer fan xxx

Don't shoot me- I'm the messenger lol To clarify again------- JUNE book is A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer and the alternative read is One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. Just to confirm the book for May is 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' to be reviewed approx 23rd May. The ACTUAL choice for June book is STILL 'A Child Called It' by Dave Pelzer nothing will change that as it was voted for - to be reviewed approx 23rd June. Some people have contacted me that they don't wish to read this choice and that is understandable so we must have an alternative and then review both books. Its the alternative we need? I just chose the one with the LEAST votes last time , to be fair, but others disagree - please vote now LOL

As I said before fellow readers - I haven't got a clue what I'm doing so all suggestions are very welcome - I just wanted a book we could all read and then discuss - and if I'm truthful I don't have to do anything else once it gets rolling LOL.. If the book is not to your taste, as some aren't mine, then something else from the list? Perhaps I'll phone Richard and Judy for Tips! LOL

Going to the library tomorrow, will have to find out if my card is still valid, not used it for years. Will probably buy Dave Pelzer's book. His brother also wrote a book about life after David left. Jude, was it a tun dish and hose pipe to get the cuppa down Vic? Ros. Ann, you're not the only one who is not into Science fiction. But ilike the challenge of reading books I wouldn't normally go for.
