Thanks to Ann in Glos for making me feel welcome - definitely will send in some reviews. Just finished packing the suitcase - managed to get The Family Tree, seems it's only in hardback at the moment - perhaps 2006 is the paperback date? Regards, Anne

Hi folks Well I'm back. Thought I had better check in and see what has been happening while I have been away. Great choices for August, will have to look out for them. Glad the books arrived OK Jacquie, they should keep you out of mischief for a while!!! Maz While I was away I read 'A Year in the Merde' - Stephen Clarke, feel sure you mentioned it some time ago. It was hilarious, will pass it on to my son as he works in France quite a lot these days. By the way has anyone read 'Starter for Ten' by David Nicholls? It had me creased up. It is about life at Uni in 1985. If you want something light for a holiday it might be just the book for you. Dee xx

I wasn't keen on the look of Crimson petal so didn't want to buy it, waiting for it from the library instead. Read cloud Atlas! Hmmm!! Ann Glos

I have just ordered the Crimson Petal and the white from the library. Our library doesn't have it (there's a surprise, but they can get it from one of the Glos libraries although it is out at the moment. Hopefully I will get it in time to review it on 27th. i have read Cloud Atlas. Ann Glos

I am more excited than Jacquie/Oleander .... must be great to receive the books Dee and Ann have sent. ... and to Anne Dudgeon(sp?) and anyone else ... you can always give your comments on the review for any books you have read -- it helps us to see what to read or not.... we welcome reviews for any of the books that were'nt voted for but were nominated? If that makes sense lol? I read books that 'lost out' in the votes - some good - some awful! What I'm trying to say is don't be afraid to give review on what you've read, it's all welcome xx Mike.

Great, so you have four whole books to read now. You wont know what to read first. I hope you enjoy it, probably a bit lighter than the others. Ann Glos

What a great thread! So many interesting books discussed. I wish I had the time to read more and could join in. On holiday I do little else but read and will definitely be taking some of the books recommended here. Thanks to all of you for helping me put my summer reading list together. Anne

I checked in Ottakers and they say The family Tree wont be in until March 2006. Don't know what they are playing at but I also checked the net and all the usual book sites seem to have it. Ann Glos
