Hi Baby, Your NOT on your own ... as you probably gathered ! but I know that even knowing that isn't helping is it ! You do need to speak to cab, asap and they will help you I'm sure. In the meantime, you need to make a start in cutting down your outgoings. Cab will go through this with you anyway. I am going through a similar situation, but not with debt collectors ... my problem is that I have more going out than coming in, and my bank overdraft was getting weaker by the hour. I am a single parent (2 kids) on benefits. Firstly, to help yourself, take a good hard look at your outgoings. Can you drop the payments on household bills ..? even a couple of pounds a week or month helps. Do you smoke ? if so, and you smoke packet cigarettes ... consider smoking roll ups. I used to smoke 30 per day but changed to roll ups about 10 years ago. Now I smoke one packet of rolling tobacco per week - £9 ... BUT I also know people who can buy it cheaper than that. Your internet .... are you on the cheapest possible ... ask around. I phoned BT last week and tried to cancel my internet to go with a cheaper server ... BT slashed 25% off my Internet for the next 3 months .. and sorted my phone bill out, stopping all the packages that I don't use. Saving me £40 per month. Transport .. have you got a car ? do you use it every day ? do you NEED a car or is it a luxury ? Last week, I parked the car up and cancelled the insurance - saving me £15 per month. Have you got SKY or similar ? - get rid of it - or at least down grade to the cheapest possible package... I phoned Sky up last week and told them I wanted to cancel ... they offered me the next 3 months at half price ... its not cancelled ..BUT I have saved a further £9 per month and then I will cancel in 3 months time anyway ! Catalogue payments ... mine suddenly jumped from £40 per month to £185 .. I phoned the catalogue and explained that I couldn't afford ... they agreed to half the payments for 3 months ... ok for now, but obviously in 3 months time .... I have 7 rabbits and a cat that need feeding ... so I've spoken to local Mum's and they are very kindly helping out ... I've put the Rabbits up for adoption for 3 months. The local Junior school children are allowed to come and visit the rabbits when ever they like. Each child pays 50p per week into the kitty ... and one of the Mum's goes and fetches Rabbit Pellets for me from the Food Store once a fortnight (as I have no transport now). I don't go out to pubs or clubs ... I do treat myself once a month to a bottle of cheap wine (Lambrini) ... but I can't even afford that now ! Cutting back on Sky, Internet, Car Insurance, and catalogue payments has saved me £165 per month. With the rabbits being adopted its saved a further £30 per month. Now I can go upto the shop and get food for my kids without worrying about the money in the bank. Its all SHORT term help ... but I do feel a load better .... and when people see that you ARE trying to help yourself, they DO bend over backwards to help you. Do your family know your situation ? ... they may or may not be able to help financially ... but at the very least they are good for support ! Don't be ashamed ... I believe that everyone goes through financially hard times at some point in there lives ... just be strict with your self, if you don't need it, get rid of it ! you can always get it back at a later date. My computer is next on the list, as I have nothing else, but there is NO WAY I will let it go without a damn good fight ! Phone CaB (I will be doing very soon) ... stay calm ... and let the professionals do their job .... and GOOD LUCK. Thinking about you. Dancer x
