It's opposite ends of the spectrum though Jess. If people don't believe in psychics and mediums it helps to say why. There is absolutely no need for it to turn into a scrap though. Anne and I are saying why we don't play at heebiejeebies and David and Elaine are explaining why they do. Neither 'team' would dream of trying to persuade the other over to their point of view but it's OK to show where we're coming from.

Maybe those pulling the Bible apart ought to move on to the New Testament and read the part about being freed from the law. It's easy to manipulate anything to your own advantage.

Sorry 2 funny stories with mediums! My own experiences! One dear old lady went in another room and must have been reading from posters on the wall in the next bedroom! At the end she said 'I don't normally charge but a fiver would be nice'. Another one asked one my mates to shuffle the cards on the table. She had her back turned and my mate looked at us as there were no cards on the table! She shrugged and started shuffling an imaginary pack. The lady turned round and said 'Silly me!' and reached below the table and handed her the cards! Debby

Anne I agree with Elaine - it's physically and morally impossible to live your life by the word of the Bible because of the contradictions there are in it. Deuteronomy also tells us not to eat pig meat but I couldn't manage without a bacon sarnie every now and again:)

I agree with you Anne. It's nothing I've ever been tempted into and I certainly don't intend to go dabbling in it either.

I respect your beliefs Anne However personally I think the bible contridicts itself IE: 'Though shalt not kill' then it spouts 'An eye for an eye' and such forth This thread is not what the bible tells people to do, its merely asking people if they dont believe or if they do It doesnt mean we are all devil worshipers if we do believe. In fact in my spiritulist church prayers are always said and hymns sung. And all religions are welcomed into our church and none turned away Elaine x

I haven't a clue. It's weird to think really. But the person who he said he had was my mother in law. Everything he told us was right. The end comment was shes holding out a saucepan. That week my daughter had moved into a flat and I had given her some of the mil's old cookware. Everything else was also too obscure to be a guess. So as I knew my mother in law for almost 25 years and never had a goold relationship with her until my father in law died it was nice to think she had come and given us that. This was also mentioned in the reading. She had always said to me don't ever let them turn off the machine if I'm on life support so I think she had a real strong pull to always be here. Strange but true

Life after death ? To be perfectly honest I don't know what to believe. My mother however was a firm believer. My father wasn't and ujsed to 'take the Micky' out of her when she used to say she would meet up with her Mum & Dad, siblings etc. I wanted to believe but somehow just couldn't totally. For years she promised me that when she died she would dispel all my doubts and 'get in touch' - how I do not know because I do not attend any meetings etc. However, it is 3 yrs since this month since Mum died and no there has been nothing that has happened by way of a 'message' or anything else to prove to me that there is indeed life after death, and I know with certainty that Mum would have kept her promise if it was at all possible. Having said that, and going off slightly on a tangent, I did have a funny experience many years ago. I lived alone, my marriage having broken up, with my small son whom Mum absolutely idolised. They spent a lot of time together. One night he was not well and shouted out in his sleep 'Nanna, Nanna'. I went into his room and comforted him and told him it was Mummy not Nanna. We met Mum that weekend in town as per normal and I was telling her my little one had not been well on the Wednesday evening. Before I could go any further, she said, 'Yes I know, I heard him call out for me' !!

Dave you can get some genuine mediums who charge but it's a bit hit and miss finding them. I went to see a brilliant woman last year who knew some amazing stuff and sent me a mesage from someone too:)

I went to see Tony Stockwell in Colchester last year. We had a reading and it was spot on. Too many off the wall details to be a generalization. I like to think there is life after death. This life is so hard at times. It would be nice to have this paradise that is talked about.

Yeh, I'm certain there is life after death and have no doubt that some people are given a gift of communicating between us and them. There are a lot of dodgy people about who prey on people's needs but there are a lot of dodgy people in all professions who can't do the job they claim they can.
