No of course not Anne but any christian and I am one myself believes that they will be reunited with there loved ones, is that not the same as afterlife?! Surely you hope to be with your loved ones Anne or do you just believe you will stop breathing die and that will be it? anne Im not calling you a detestable, sourcerer or a witch But the bible quote calls us that. as said before, I respect your belief but I find it sad that other peoples religions and beliefs are quoted in this way as said before, the thread was about mediums etc, not what another religion states what we must believe, and it certainly diddnt ask us to call other believers of different religions names

Being a born sceptic, with no religious beliefs, I once did a study of them, travelling quite widely in England and Wales armed with notebook and tape-recorder. Over a period of 5 years I saw hundreds of them 'perform' and most were spoofs or self-deluded. I did, however, meet up with a handful who I could not fault and was convinced that 'They had something'. When they come up with specific information relating to dead relatives that I only found out by subsequent enquiries, then I begin to take notice. I even paid £75 to a hypnotist in Aylesbury to have myself regressed, having witnessed others being regressed. The current series on ITV, as you would expect with Phillip Schofield, is titillating rubbish Those who denounce the paranormal as bogus or rubbish, yet who have done no research, are twits. Len

Anne I think you contradict yourself here? In one statement you say anyone can quote from the bible and get it to say what they want it to say! In another you say I have quoted from bible to say why I dont believe in mediums?! Davex

Anne Your point of view is welcome and I respect your view, however If there is a god, then I believe he is a loving god, who would accept anyone into his kingdom regardless of religion etc. A loving god would not find any of his children detestable....as the bible quotes you posted. I am a spiritulist, I believe there is a god/higher energy/spirit. As a spiritulist I accept anyones religion, we dont go round and preach, and tell others they are wrong and they are bad for their beliefs. My nan was christian, yet she still saw her dead mother who gave her a message which proved right the next day. Many different religions mean different things to different people. But the first rule is to be accepting of peoples beliefs, and not calling the believers of those religions detestable, sourcerers and witches. Thank you Elaine, yes I think most people who are religious and I come into that catogary, though we cant prove there is afterlife we hope there is so we can be with the people we love when we die! I often think of my Grandmother who I was especially close to and hope that when I die she will help me pass through and of course my brother who died 5 years ago and my Dad I want to see them again they were special and surely we can but hope that we will again be with them!. Wendy I'm not pulling the Bible apart at all - I have a lot of faith in it and many of the messages it teaches. But it's impossible for anyone to live their life in complete obedience to all the instructions laid out in both testaments, especially when the New Testament is a much more forgiving and merciful text. The Common Book of Prayer even places more emphasis on some of the commandments over others so we can't be blamed for doing the same:) David
