Gwyneth in Kent. Aaaahhh....Pink Angora jumpers and Pony tailed hair. I remember a time at the Saturday afternoon 'flicks' ( Pictures ). Roy Rogers was playing.......or it may have been Hop-a -long Cassidy.....I was sitting in the back row with 4 mates, and remembered 3 girls sitting two rows down, on there own. I jumped the seats and sat next to the one in the Pink Angora jumper...( can still smell the perfume woffting off her....lol) She offered me a chewing gum ( Juicy fruit ) The 3 of them were giggling ( we were all about 12/13 years of age. ) I did eventually get her phone number......and 9 years later i married her......lol Tony Oz

Milk delivered by horse and cart. You used to take your jug out to him and he would ladle it out of a big churn for you by the Quart. The milk was so good in those days. Liqourice Root. Toasting Forks Rag and Bone Man Ice cream Man on a bicycle with Hokey Pokey Penny a lump. Horse Manure you picked up of the road for your garden. Paper Aeroplanes. Cucumber cut in to slices and soaked in Vinegar. There was always a smell of it at my Grandma's in her Cellar head as we called it. Was a set of shelves which served as a pantry as you went down to the Coal Cellar. It was the coolest place in the house. Saspirella in big stone jars. The jars also served as bed warmers instead of Hot water bottles. Teets that didnt screw on baby bottles you had to pull them on. Spilt milk many a time when it was a new one lol. Dandelion and Burdock and Tizer. Only had it on Sunday lunch time with the big Roast Dinner. ( was our special treat for the week) Props to hold the washing line up. Indelable Ink Pencils Does anyone remember them. If you chewed them they made your tongue go Blue and tasted foul. Anyone ever play CONKERS ( Horse Chestuts) Collecting Cigarette cards Gypsies that used to come to your door selling pegs. Gas Meters that you put shillings in and every so often a man would come and empty it and you would get a rebate. He would tell you off if he found a washer in there. Wooden Knitting needles. Wool on a hank that you had to wind. Took 2 people one to hold the other to wind. Thank you for this thread it is most interesting and get's your old mind a thinkiing lol. I can't beleive I remembered all of those things. Certainly keeps your mind active. Regards Jackie Have a nice day folks.

Jackie, What a lot you remember. Also wallpaper that you had to cut the edges off to just leave the patterned bit. Tony, Angora jumpers, that brought back a memory, my boyfriend's parents went to the pictures and we were sat at his house, with the lights off. When his parents came home, they switched the light on and he was covered in angora hairs, lol Saspirella, There used to be a tiny shop on Central Drive, Blackpool. they had ceramic barrels of saspirella etc. there was a bench that sat about 4 or 5 people and we used to meet in there drinking this lovely home made saspirella. Every Sunday afternoon, the 'done thing' in Blackpool was to to go to the Savoy for coffee then the Tatler cafe and then Dodinos on the prom, We all thought we were the bees knees, all dressed up to kill! Peter Dudley in Perth,Oz remembers this too. June xx

Yes, isn't it lovely to reminisce? I remember sitting by the open coal fire, burning my legs in front and my back was freezing. We used to listen to the radio 'Dick Barton, special agent' which was quite thrilling. Also Mrs Dales Diary and not to forget the horse racing and football on a Saturday. That is if the accumulator didn't run out from the radio. It was my job to take the accumulator and have it charged when it ran out. Knitted swimming costumes which fell to your knees when you went into the water. Black stockings and lace up shoes. The rag and bone man. Most of the things that I remember have already been said.
