Paul, I wonder if your boss knows his family history? As far as I can remember off hand most of my Bates were from around Toddington, but I seem to remember a link to somewhere near Leighton Buzzard a few generations back. Carolyn

Well Paul, I'm quite hurt really. I thought we had already established that you were a Smiff like me. There can't be too many of those around LOL. However, if you wont settle for that, I had better join the bandwagon. I have:- Allpress - Morley - Cracknell - Gray - Rollinson - Whetton and many, many others. Any good to you? Chrissie

Louise... no relations in Swindon that I know of. Thankfully. Caroline... my wife and I got married at the Milton Keynes Village church. Its still very nice, but surrounded somewhat by new housing. They still have morris dancing at the pub round the cornet though, and the cricket green is still there and in use. Not relevant at all, but the lady that married us is the daughter of Kathy Staff (Norah Batty !!)

Sorry Paul can't match any of your names but I do have a couple of Pritchetts for Louise. I'll be very surprised if there's a match though, I've just put three of my surnames on lost cousins & got no matches. BTW there's free subsciption to lost cousins till the end of Jan '06 if you put in YFT as code. Vivienne

Paul, my gt grandparents got married at old Milton Keynes village church. I visisted there once and it was quite rural. There names were Charles Edward Ling (his family came from Suffolk) and Katie Skinner (originally from Toddington). Also from Beds/Bucks I have Bates, Ashby, Burrows, Quick and Dickens. Also, my friend Sue has ancestors from Eggington (Lathwell and Pratt) and we visited a lovely little pub in the village last year, it was so nice we hardly had time for grave searching by the time we'd finished lunch!
