Thanks for posting this thread Shirley Ann I wish all those in your shelter and those I have heard of too, through 'my girls' and others working quietly mentioned on this thread, a Very Happy New Year and here's hoping even a few will find a new home and a new start in life. Take care everyone. Maybe we could mention the homeless and their plight every few weeks in the New Year, just so none of us forget, how fortunate we are, even if we feel we've worked very hard to get where we are. Kind Regards to Anyone who'se taken the time to read this Linda :o) |

I certainly will. I have to find a big bag of men's cast offs that I know I have somewhere, those warm checked brushed cotton shirts etc that will help him stay warm until he goes into hospital. Maybe when I know for sure he has had his op, or just before, some of you could send me cards and I could pass them on. I hope he has a nice day with his sister, I am gradually learning more about him as we chat when I see him. I am also hoping his dog Chester stays well - he is 15 so it would be nice if he was still around for a while longer so Greg can maybe take him for more walks and such when he is better. Liz |

Today, Saturday, I was able to make contact with Greg again so took him some secondhand but good clothes that were lying about, a shirt, a Jaegar black corduroy sort of bomber jacket which I thought he could wear over a sweater round the house when his heating is off, a sweatshirt, and a thick teeshirt, and some dog chews and a card for Christmas. He was sitting outside our Iceland store, near a flower stall that was packing up for the day, playing his harmonica with Chester the dog (who is 15 he told me ) wearing his antlers and wrapped in a blanket! He showed me a brand new padded jacket in its bag, apparently a Japanese lady had spoken to him (he had never seen her before) and she came back later with this new jacket she had bought him. He was so pleased. He is being collected by his sister to spend Christmas day with her in a nearby town where she lives, not far from you Shirley?, at Halesworth. He told me that because there are more urgent cases, his op has been postponed till Feb 21st. He had a twist of paper with some roses in and he picked them up and I thought he was about to show me they were for his sister. He pulled out a bunch of 6 yellow roses saying this is for you, I thought he was about to give me a rose, but he gave me the bunch, I said what about your sister, and he said no I have a card and little present for her, and these other roses are for my grandmother. I was so very touched, that he had been so thoughtful. I will be taking him some more things after Christmas and just hope he gets his op and recovers well,so he can start making a proper life for himself. Liz |

Well done to you Mistletoe in Manchester. That is a wonderful thing that you are doing for the Homeless. Bless You. I try to do as much as I can to help those that are less fortunate than myself... We are so lucky aren't we? Please remember the homeless especially during the harsh winter nights. Maisie |
