Once again guys, I cant thank you enough for your support. It is wonderful that so many of you can be so kind and thoughtful but I can assure you dad was worthy of your thoughts. I would also say that the hospital staff were brilliant. I am always ready to criticise the NHS but they treated my father with the respect and dignity he deserved and did everything they possibly could to make him comfortable, even though they knew he would not recover. They even ordered down a special bed with ripples of air running through it constantly to keep his body free from pressure. The nurses were absolutely respectful to him on every occasion they attended him. During last night, I went to get a nurse 4 times because his breathing was so laboured due to lungs filling with fluid. Each time they rushed to his side to help him. One absolutely lovely young chinese Male nurse was so very gentle and kind to dad, calling him sir all the time even though he was unconscious and then by his first name when I told him it would be ok. I am grateful for your thoughts and I will be grateful for your prayers for dad in the hope he is now reunited with my mum, which is what he has really waited for for 18 years now.

Heather I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. He sounds such a lovely man and he must have loved you very much, as you obviously did him. Hold on to the thought that he is not suffering now, and he knew you were with him. I'm so glad you and your family were able to spend some time with him. I never had the chance to say goodbye to my Dad, who died suddenly aged 66 in 1987. My condolences to you and your family Sue xx

Liz and i were so sorry to hear of your loss ,more so cause you couldn't get to be with him at the end. My father died ,in lincolnshire in the same sort of way ,and i know what you are thinking,if only i could have been there at the time. It isn't your fault ,and your dad knew you loved him ,so don't feel too bad.take care ,and go on with your life as your dad will have wished. we will certainly pray for him ,and your family at this time.
