Good point Roxanne, I saw something on TV not to long ago, where some Anti hunt guy had a hidden camera. Some guy came past on a quadbike and started hitting him with a whip. What a loser! Stand and fight like a man!

What makes me mad is that you always hear about the violence from the'anti hunters' but nothing about how violent the 'pro hunters' can be, Ive been on a few Anti hunt campaigns and from our side they were peaceful but the Hunters were a disgrace, no interest in freedom of speech just their own little 'MURDEROUS' activity.

my dad used to be a hunt follower and as a child aged around 10 - 12 I would go with him. The only memories I have of this, are of him really telling me off for stroking one of the hounds. He said something like they are not pets, but trained to kill. That came from someone who loved the 'sport'. Claire

Its cruel & I hate it. Many years ago went on anti fox hunt , Just stood there with awaiting start of hunt to be pushed out of way by some prat on a beautiful 18 handed. One of the guys who was trying to distract with scent was beaten with whip. These are truly lovely people NOT. I would dearly love to chase one of these guys into the ground and let him be torn apart. suex

Thank you, Paul. :-) Yesterday, whilst in one of our local charity shops (an animal one), one of the volunteers mentioned that a local animal rescuer had just been in with a kitten that had just been found abandoned. Not 'lost' - abandoned, and the poor baby was so frightened. There is just no excuse whatsoever for humans to do this. Gawd, I'm digressing again, lol. Helen, that's an excellent point of yours. No, the C.A. definitely does NOT speak for all country folk. x

Ah bless ya Glenys. I have 2 Cats, both dumped by stinking stupid human freaks! I now work at Cats Protection and see it all the time!

CB, I see your point about cats, although I wouldn't go so far as wanting to shoot them lol. We have 5 - all rescue ones, that were dumped by humans - and in the spring and summer, I hate it when they catch anything, even though I know it's in their nature. To try and 'do our bit', we've put collars on them, with bells. I know the RSPCA aren't keen on the idea, but at least we're trying to do something for the local wildlife. Sorry, I'm digressing ......

I don't think you can compare a bunch of people setting a pack of trained dogs on a wild animal with a wild animal killing from instinct. Even though a fox may not eat all the hens it kills, its instinct is to kill for food and bury what it can't eat - hence the various remains I used to find buried by foxes in my former garden. Hunting foxes with hounds is cruel and is done purely for the entertainment of people and the exercising of their dogs and horses. Foxes hunt because they'd die of starvation if they didn't, and finding a banquet once they get into a henhouse is probably a fox's idea of heaven. Personally, I'd like to shoot all the blasted domestic cats that have frequented my gardens over the years and killed countless birds, squirrels, mice, frogs and baby hedgehogs, and leave the wild animals to their own devices. Every time I mention this to cat-owners or cat-lovers, I'm told, 'It's in their nature - it's instinct.' So, if that's a good enough excuse for well-fed, cossetted moggies, it's a good enough excuse for wild creatures who have no alternative but to kill other creatures for food, and it's high time (after thousands of years) that farmers found some effective method of protecting their livestock. The thread title was 'Grrrr, silly snobby people! Why do they think they are above the law?' This subject has been debated for years and parliament has decided that it is illegal. They were elected with this in their manifesto by a majority of the people. Those who believe we can ignore the democratic wish of the people are a greater 'vermin' than foxes could ever aspire to be. What if child pornographers said that should be allowed to ignore the law because they disagreed with it? Bob

Why do tweedy fox hunters think that fox hunting's fine - yet 'cloth capped' types can't badger bait, organise and watch cock fights, dog fights etc. Why is fox hunting worse than cock fighting? It isn't, it's the same! Domestic dogs kill more livestock than foxes, and don't rabbit numbers need keeping under control? And before you ask I was brought up in greenbelt land and have seen plenty of dogs/foxes get shot by farmers!
