I'm not a devout Christian, but don't feel uncomfortable attending Church services when I have to. The mumbo jumbo's not for me, you can feel God anywhere if you want to but some people find comfort in all that stuff! When in Church though |I make all the right noises, join in praying but don't take Communion. I believe there is a higher being but am not sure about the rest of everything - we can never know, can we? P.S I don't talk about Religion as a general rule! Jacquie |

Nope, i am not all all bothered - i am a non believer now, due to something that happened to me personally. like wise my father. My sister is law is one of these what i can only describe as a 'happy clappy christain' - and her so called beliefs do not seem to tally with the way she acts/behaves at all which confuses me. Each to their own - just dont try and impose what you think is right and proper on me, thanks all the same! |

Hi Paul, I am a spiritualist & also not a christian. On the odd occasion I have found myself in a christian spiritualist church I have just ignored what was going on around me & thought of the universal energy to which I believe we all belong. I find that ladies attitude very disturbing & I wouldn't attend any meetings at a church with that attitude. A spiritualist goes to heaven & is shown around by his guardian angel. After looking around for a while he just has to ask a question. 'Sir, we are told that all are equal & that everyone regardless of what religion goes to the same heaven'. ' Yes my child that is so,' answers the angel. 'Then why Sir, may I ask, are there all these diferent rooms that we are looking down on.' The angel replied, ' Ah child, that is the sadness, all of them believe that their way is the only way, so we have to keep them separate or they would think they had gone to hell. Vivienne |

Paul I used to be a member of the Spiritualists Association at their HQ in Belgrave Square, London. I hobnobbed with Christians, Jews, Muslims and agnostics and possibly members of other faiths. The more intelligent people in their ranks had open minds. When you come to think of it, how can one be a Christian, Jew or Muslim without accepting spiritualism on which the faiths are based? len |

hi paul, at least you had the courage of your convictions, religion comes in all shapes and sizes.from childhood i was brought up in the welsh chapel, and my faith has stayed with me. quite often, people on here ask for thoughts and prayers, and i'me only too happy to give it,in the peace of my home. being open minded,i also believe in spiritual healing, but just don't have the time to research it further. bryan. |

I have my own beliefs which are kind of made up! I think they'd offend a lot of people, so I choose to keep them to my self! Its all to do with balance in my book. |

Only when I am talking to people who are religion fixated and have closed minds. I am worried about upsetting them. Len |

Hi Paul I feel a bit wary discussing religion but I think the best way is to be open-minded. I went to a spiritualist church myself years ago as an agnostic with a partner into various 'new age' stuff. I think if people gain some sense of community from faith that's fine but live and let live. hope this thread goes well xx jen |

For example, I went to a spiritualist church a few years back, because I am highly interested in anything Supernatual and Spiritual. It was a christian church, and I felt very uncomforatble, as they expected us to pray. I'm not christian, and they still expected it from me! I didn't know it was a christian workshop before I entered as it was held in a village hall, but just called a 'church' whenever the event took place. I didn't pray, and got a few odd look, and some tsks from some of the other people! Someone outside of the hall told me to ignore to 'tutters', but asked why i didnt bow my head. I told them because I wasn't Christian. They then asked me what I was doing in a spiritualist church, when I told them, my beliefs are different and personal to me, and just because I was not christian didnt mean I didnt believe in Spiritualism! She was a bit confused! I dont see why I had to be christian to go see a spiritualist!!! |
