Hi All, I last smoked 4 years ago (after giving up for the 2nd time - with a 2 year gap inbetween giving up and starting again). I know how very very very hard it is to do it. I gave up cold turkey each time and the very best advice I can give you is: When you want a cigarette take a really deep breath, breathing in through the mouth and hold it for a second or two then blow it out slowly - fills your lungs and helps you 'get over' that tricky moment. Also remember, by the 6 week stage YOU WILL be over the very worst of it. You may always get a craving now and then but basically you've done it. And finally, DON'T EVER think 'I'll just have one, I can handle it' - that's all it takes to get hooked again!!!!!! Very well done to all of you - it's hard but so worth while. Keep on going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kim |

Well done - keep going and reward yourself with a treat each week from the money you would have burnt! Husband thinks it is hilarious I pay myself a smoking bonus each week - the money I would have spent - only he does not know it should be more!! Ann |

WELL DONE EVERYONE! Keep it going! I wear my patches on my back just below my bra strap. It seems to be the place with the least folds of fat! lol. And I always used to rub my patches at first. I swear it made them work harder! lol I haven't suffered from sleeplessness, but I did have awful dreams to start with. It does stop eventually. If you are wearing your patch during the night this could be the cause. You could try taking it off, but only if you feel confident enough! I'm cutting down to the weakest patches this weekend. I should have been off them by now but I found it quite difficult going down from the 21mg to the 14mg, so I thought I'd wait til after Christmas. Can't put it off any longer now! lol I think we're all brilliant. Give yourselves a pat on the back! Jeanette x |
