lol..Merle. I cant believe i can remember that far back, but somethings stick in ya mind...( and ya face )....lol I think the most amazing part of it all is that Barbs dad was a slaughterman at Burnley in the 50s. Probably the mad bugger who throught the sheep guts at me. When he was alive, we did talk about it, but he told me he used to throw stuff at all the kids if they got bit nosy..A great bloke he was too. ( God bless him ) Tony Oz..:>))

Ah Tony thats gorgeous. Havent laughed so much for ages. That used to happen on the farm too. Everyone knew I wouldnt touch the offal till next day. Couldnt handle it warm so if I was ever silly enough to go near the shed at killing time I was the one those things happened to. When we moved to Albany Derek got a job at the meatworks as a boner and he always regaled us with similar stories when he got home. Dear old Pop Sandells wouldn't allopw the women near the yards at tailing time but I always seemed to cop at least one tail or other parts in the face.Himself was the culprit of course

Arvo peeps. Nice sunny day in Melbin. A bit chilly this morning, but has turned out a nice day. I'm a meat eater, and must eat meat at least 5 days out of a 7 day week. Pork, Lamb, Beef, Steak, Mince or whatever. My favourite is crumbed cutlets, but can be damn expensive little blighters, and better off buying a T-Bone by the time you buy 6 Cutlets. Merle. Was thinking about what you said. ex Farmers wife. At 12 years old i worked and lived on a farm in Wonthaggi, as a legacy kid.( The Smiths farm ) They were the nicest people i had ever met. I was a city kid, and they taught me a lot about farming and general upkeep of running a farm. It was a real experiance to see where milk, cream and eggs came from, and not just off the Grocers shelf..( hence my love for the bush and Country area's ) When i was a wee lad in Richmond ( Melbin ) about 10 years old, ( 50s )we used to go to the Burnley slaughter yards to earn a bit of pocket money by herding the pigs and sheep in to be slaughtered. I used to watch the slaughter men do there job. Mostly Italians and Greeks back then in Melbin. Before skining and cutting up the Sheep or Pigs they used to dip there arms up to the elbows in a barrel of animal blood first, before touching the animal. I was always facinated by the way they cut through the meat with precision, and used to stay and watch ( peeking my head around the shed doors ) One day i got the gumption to wander inside the slaughter shed, while they were working. They saw me watching, and smiled at me.I turned my back on them for a minute to look at something, ( cant remember what ) i turned back around to face them and the next thing i felt was the whole insides of a gutted sheep flying across the shed and hitting me fair smack in the face, knocking me over off my feet. Warm sheep guts, intestines, and blood streaming down me from head to toe. As i picked myself up off the shed floor, the Italians/Greeks/Ozzies were laughing their heads off at me. I ran out side the shed door smelling terrible, and had to walk about 2 mile home with hundred of blowies following me.......lol It was the last time i ventured into the actual slaughter area, and from then on just herded the animals into the slaughter pens. I learnt something that day.............never turn ya back on ya enemy, even if he's smiling at you.........lol Tony Oz..:>))

As an Ex Farmers wife, don't muck about just show 'em the axe. Sir Tonz ,you are one of a special breed. My dad too. We were 20 months ,41/2, 7& 9.and the police dept didn't know what to do with him. He wasn't elegible for a house caus he didn't have a wife and for obvious reasons couldn't go into the single mens quarters either and as Dad refused to put us in a home they sent him to Port Hedland thinking that would bring him to his senses. It didn't I'm pleased to say. He actually was the first father to be granted custody of the children over the mother in W.A. He made beeewtiful bread and no machines in them days.I can still remember hearing the thump thump as he did the last raising about 4am so the bread would be ready for breakfast.A very comforting sound. Welcome home oh Ice queen. What a story you'll have to tell. Its pretty hot here but the breeze is just coming in so probably wont make our top temp. Himself not well again today The good days are slowly being taken over by the bad ones.Even admitted he was bored, an admission indeed. Can't find anything to interest him.

Good morning from sunny Queensland, Well a little bit sunny, little bit over cast, hot but not quite as humid, yet!!!! Mary, Is John allowed to take an electric razor into hospital. When Neville was in they didn't allow it because some of them interferred with the medical equipment. He had to use a hospital one. I don't think the chickens will get over the menopause, I keep shouting chicken soup and I did get 2 eggs this morning instead of the usual 1. We have decided to just let them live out their lives in comfort, because they have been good to us. But the duckling was loverly. Cooked it in the webber, melted in your mouth. Now what is this about chops coming from lambs? I get mine from the butcher!!!!!!!!! Thats my story and I am stickin to it. Don't think I could be a vegetarian. I just tell myself that sheep, cows pigs and chickens would be extinct if we didn't eat them. Sorry that I didn't do any good in the Lotto, just keep trying, one day we will get there and if not we can have fun dreaming. Neville says thank you for his birthday wishes and yes he had a lovely lazy day with lots of good grub and a nice drop of wine. Hope everyon has a great day, not too hot. Welcome home Lew. I will look in later Love SuzyQ

Yaaayyyy<<<clap>>> congrats to who ever....Mary or Tony who got the 20,000. My....aren't we a talkative bunch? I think we are one of the oldest and biggest threads on this site. Trust us Ozzies!!! Mornin' everyone. It's another humid day here on the GC. If this keeps up I might have to put our egg-nishioners on too, Anna. Did you see that Peter Beattie has decided not to have the refferendum on using treated water? Smartest move he's made in a long time. It'll save a fortune and he was going to use it anyway. The Ice Printheth arrives home this arvo.....she'll melt in this warm weather poor thing. Drive safely to all those heading out on the roads. Big happy hugz Trifley X

Well - it's very 'Sunday Morning' - everyone reading the paper?? I am furiously scanning photos - got some from my cousin - the same ones I borrowed last year and lost when the computer crashed - they were backed up but the back up is corrupted. Chris was talking about taking it to an expert to see if the data can be retrieved but in the meantime I've re-borrowed the photos and will save them to disc myself! Then it will be cricket and tennis. Nice day mapped out! Are you home Ice Printheth???? No frost bite on your extremities I trust?? Bleeding humid here again today and 32 degrees predicted. Time to switch on the air conditioner! Enjoy your Sunday XX Anna
