Arvo All . . . Just had a phone call from the Printheth . . . her is in the thick of things as one would expect !!! Her local real estate guy, shot (dead) the guy who was playing up with his wife this morning, then held up in his office in the main street of Mudgee . . . Here was me thinking poor Mudgee how will it cope with the invasion of the Wattlers . . . Seems I dinny have to worry about Mudgee but should worry about my friends going into that rough neighbourhood . . . lol All over now he gave himself up eventually, but Lew wanted to assure you all that it is not normal practise for sleepy little Mudgee !!!! . . . And the queen is just hours away . . . . Hey guys that poem is actually to the tune of 'The Campbells are Coming . . . ' pmsl luv Laurie

Afternoon Wattlers Mary I ended up marinating the roast in a mixture that had bourbon, soy sauce, water and mixed herbs, then this morning after David went to work I got up and made a slit in the roast and stuffed it with bread crumbs, onion and some more mixed herbs and put it in the slow cooker, mmmmmmmmm smells good hope it tastes the same, dont know what David will think when he walks in and smells the aroma, not to mention the cup of Jim Beam missing from his bottle in the bar hee hee. We are supposed to get a thunderstorm tonight, so we will wait and see, they also say we are getting showers this afternoon, well the washing has been hung out dried and bought in before any moisture has fallen from the sky. It is a muggy 28 degrees at the moment. Better go and fold some clothes up. back after. ~~~~~ to all ~~~~~ Cheers Sue

Good morning everyone. Just got back in from work (weights with a yak fest at the local comm. centre) Contemplating whether to do some tidying or some f/h. I already exchanged some early mail with the relos in the uk before I left. I know that if I stay on here it will be late afternoon before I know it. Good fun wishes to the Mudgee mob, those in transit and those still packing bags. You are a legend Lara losing weight. fantastic effort. Nice day here, no rain but everything has a green tinge now. guineapigs are loving it. Vonny , I saw an entry on the boards once before about somebody's relo doing a clean up and tossing all the photos out. it was more a plea for anybody who lived close to go and rescue them. My new found cousin said that quite a few of theirs got lost or water damaged during a house move. Love to all from Yvette x

Ooooer Laurie - amongst the info I received on Monday was the line - Charles Millar Mulholland was an engineer on the railways!! This was around late 1870 onwards. He died 1931. Tell your friend that there is a lovely old boat for sale on ebay at the moment - John was eyeing it off - GROAN. :) have a good day all.

Good Morning Wattlers . . . Still searching the house for my Valentines suprise . . . TLR will get his when he opens his lunch box !! I have been talking to the Queen this morning, and the Printheth of Telstradoom. The Royal entourage got away from Armidale early this morning heading for FH stopover in Merriwa, before they head to MM. All going well and safe with them . . . said the roads had very little traffic and they are 'just cruisin' The Printheth has too much time on her hands and her mind is working in overdrive, so watch out!!! Her is off to town later so will pop into the office if she gets a chance and get online. We have the makings of a beaut day outside, sun is out and an interesting bank of clouds on the horizon, just a slight breeze, and the water is like a piece of glass. There are only two baby giraffe with heads held high -another 'block of flats' arrived about half an hour ago. Can understand how excited you are Vonny, but re the burning photos, at least she got to save some of them . . . I sent photos of your restoration job on the boat to friends up home (They have a yard of wooden boats all built from scratch using old plans ) I got a reply back saying . . Love the pictures of the boats - but did you have to OH is now searching the papers for old boats for sale!! Had an interesting phone call last night . . . TLR's uncle in Melbourne, rang and wanted to speak with the 'family historian' teeheee I was suitably impressed as I haven't had any help from any on that side of the family. At 89 he has decided that he wants to know more about his ancestors, and pass on info that he has so we spent nearly 2 hours on the phone. He told me some interesting snippetts that will add meat to the bones, and I was able to give him a bit more info. I sent him a copy of his family tree at Christmas time, and he said he only just got around to reading it and was fascinated. He even asked me to buy the certificates to verify everything and said he would pay for them - so that is a nice gesture. He said he wont get into this computer thingy but will snail mail me copies of some paper work and photos that he has so thats great. See we have a Digijood now too . . . keeping the cat flap shut . . . well done!! There is a morning tea/seminar for staff and volunteers out at the Records office next Tuesday that I will miss (we get home from MM on Wednesday night) - the guest speaker is giving tips on how to research Professions and Occupations so I have asked one of the guys out there to take notes for me. I got a few tips yesterday on what was available in that area - its never ending - with heaps still not known as its not indexed. Another 1,276 items of the Registers of Firms were indexed, and went onto the internet site in January as were 4,708 items from the Register of Criminal Depositions. Another project underway is the Dept of Lands Valuer General Correspondence files . . about 125 boxes of very very thin files (300 - 400 per box) so there will be tens of thousands entries by the time that one is finished. One of the Archivists is going to bring her family tree in for me to have a look at, to show me all the different avenues she ventured down to gather information. That same Archivist is married to a guy involved in the Railway & Tramway museum, and she is going to organise for him to help me find my way around their records . . so that will be handy. (My gtgramps was an engineer came to Aust for the building of country rail lines in 1874) Well I should get off her and go do some dreaded . . .be back later Hope you all have a lovely day and . . . keep a smile on your dial !! luv Laurie

Good morning all :) Just received some photos of my great great grandparents - Welch. BUT hows this for a scenario every genie dreads (copied from the email) 'I just happened to go over to my Auntie Babs as her husband was burning old photos ( he was having a clean up in his shed) when I saw what he was doing I nearly died and raced into Auntie Bab. Don't know how many he actually burnt.' :( The boat is getting its coat of paint now - will send a final photo when all is finished. Safe travelling to those on the roads today - Looks like we might be the last to arrive, Congrats on the number Jood :) ~~~~~~~~~~~ to the Cat :) back later ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vonny PS hi marilyn - Jood forgot to say that the Wattle is a flower - it's our national floral emblem. :) Sorry Jood but there are other wattles!! hee hee *Vonny pictures a large turkey wattle draped over parliament house - hmmmmm how appropriate? Gobble gobble.*
