Thanks for the offer, Mary. I have not had a lot of success finding my relatives OS, but then I haven't paid for any searches. What is Ancestry UK (sorry to be so ignorant) - is it a census CD set or similar? er.... first time ever I missed listening to/watching the race!

hi wattlers, what another great day. i love staying at home.!! I had to share my virtual shopping spree with you. spent a couple of hours browsing couture fashion and didn't even need to try it on. finishing off my lunch then going for a bit of a walk. i've never been to the races, but the boys enjoy it - just the getting dolled up attracts them. Your invitation is too generous Laurie, the thought of it all sound devine!!! Well done with the essays julie, keep at it sweetness. bye for now love Yvette x

As I prepare to leave for lunch down the road, I am wearing my spring FROCK white with pale floral design, and a white bolero on top to keep out the chill (or sun in Sydney today). Not quiet limo shoes . . . but heely sandals . . . no hat - though am tempted to pop on the tiara!! LOL Feelin' good . . . but not near as flash as Yvettes little black & white number !!! Sadly, I wont get to watch the cup . . . will be in the dentists chair. Got a phone call to say they had a cancellation if I wanted it and better to get it over with instead of risking being up home when my appointment was originally for. Is there a horse with a dentisty name I wonder . . . . could be an omen . . . LOL INVITATION TO LUNCH Wattlers are cordially invited to prawns & champers (and salad & stuff) on the balcoonie at my place on 7th December . . . . Thought it would be a lovely spot to sit and nibble and chat and enjoy one anothers company. We have had lots of discussing as to where to meet, but not really come up with a firm decision so hope you will all accept the invitation and enjoy yourselves. If you can make it to Rockdale station I can collect folks from there - do the taxi service, or there is a bus right at the station which comes to about 100mtrs from my place in about 10mins. Have a wonderful day all . . . hope you back a winner !! (Mines scratched already teehee) catch you all later . . . looking forward to dishing out the winnings of the sweep luv Laurie (5 min to get to the restraunt)

Morning Wattlers Mmm Maybe Better????? Better than what? Makybe Diva lol. If so Im on a winner hee hee. Now what to wear to a cup, as I've never been to one before :-( Dont suppose Jeans, Tshirt and runners will pass pmsl, Now that I have the race track just behind us I will have to take notice what others wear, although from what I've seen in the past I will forgo the stillettos, I'd end up doing myself some damage lol. I will go up to the TAB later and put a couple of dollars on Tawqeet, and Pop Rock, as I had already had them picked out, but now I will also but a bet on Maybe Better, as I've got him in our sweep :-))) Good luck to all. Cheers Sue

Mornin'All, since I've drawn Geordieland, naturally I will be going to the cup wearing my kilt and tam'o'shanter ! Busy here (as always). Last weekend was Albury Show and despite exams being on, a posse of teens went from here (about ten of them) at 4pm ish and returned at 9pm ish to watch the fireworks from the balcony, then lounge around on the lawn outside in the heat, but the six who stayed over settled down by midnight and slept till 9 on Sunday, so it was extremely easy and they had fun on the rides. Exams seem to be going OK, DD15 never stresses. Two today, Japanese and English. I'm having a bit of fun with an Ancestry contact at the moment, and had a sweet census entry where the new baby is listed as 'new comer' on the sheet. This is the second time that I have found a second mariage for someone, in this case no more kids, but last time I suggested the possibility and there were kids, I haven't heard from the person again! It was his mothers interest in her great-grandparents and I don't think she knew about the second marriage. Today OH and I will be leaving work early and having a BBQ chook and a bottle of champers and watch the racing home by ourselves this afternoon, our tradition. But it will be busy in the shop this morning and we always have sweeps for the customers so that is a lot of fun too. So I'd better get a move on ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ have a lovely day everyone, Heather

Morning all Rise'n shine Valda, we are almost like family here - and help each other with problems .. I'm afraid we are all addicted to the site and sometimes do family history lol .. It's much nicer to share. .. I'm lucky I have just one daughter interested in it. (at least) Laurie thanks for my gg - I hadn't heard of it !!! (but its a kiwi horse, so you never know) - tho the irish name leaves little to be desired - hope the gg runs in the right direction ! .. Have a great Melbourne Cup day everyone. Well - I'm off for shower brekky etc. .. I'll be dressing for the weather methinks - and that means something warm. .. It is sunnier than usual, and the sky is at least blue, pale, that is .. but there is no warmth yet - only 18 deg. Have a great day all, and may you all win some money. Thinking of you Trifley Love Jood

I'm happy to claim you as a cousin, Mary! Thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome here. I've been doing my family tree research now on and off for over 10 years and mainly in isolation so it's lovely to see such a friendly group with a common interest. Night all... make that morning. And thanks again! Valda
