Hi Trifley, Hi Valda, sorry Valda can't help with any Ozzie lookups only arrived here myself 33yrs ago. I'm trying to chip away at an Irish brick wall, slight luck on my side by having Irish indexes at an Family History Centre quite close to me, about three quarters of an hour drive away, so if you want lookups just pm me details. Anyone seen pussy? psml Jillx |

Hello Sandra - I've already noticed what a nice bunch of friendly people you have here! Jood you ask who I'm looking for - well, I'm trying to find out what happened to my gx grandfather - no idea where or when he died. The family went from Victoria to Bourke and settled in Katoomba in the 1890s but he seemed to get lost somewhere in Victoria along the way. I'm also wanting to find out where my other gxsomething grandfather was born etc in County Cork in Ireland and why he was transported for vagrancy. And even more, I'd like to know why he was sent to Bathurst, lived there for many years, right through the gold rush and why I am not rich! Ah the mysteries of life! |

That's it.......I given up waiting for my horses to come home......they are definately nags! Didn't even win on the sweep at the Oncology clinic! Congrats to all those who won some money.....I'm sure you'll all use it wisely....you know....like on clothes, jewwellery or perfume :) I came home to find Graeme and Mark STILL fixing lights on the roof. They have that section almost finished......we are going to switch them on for a quick look tonight to make sure they are ok. Eight sets done.....45 more to go! Anna....fingeers XXX'd that Toowoomba get lots of rain from the 25th Nov. Big healing hugz for Katherine.....although I am glad she didn't come down with this virus when we were there. The general consensus is for Chinese tonight...uummm...yuuummmyyy. Might have to find a nice light white to go with it. Big hugz and love to you all Trifley X |

Congrats to the winners, I had a lot of fun but only backed one 2nd and one 3rd and 3 scratchings for the day, that puts me down about $30 altogether. Thats ok for a days entertainment. Thinking of Trifley & Jilly for tomorrow. ~~ to all see ya tomorrow I'm off to do something about tea as OH is home early....yea Flakey |

Hi All I must say you all look very fetching in your Melbourne Cup ensembles - is there a prize for the best outfit Laurie? I'm back from my Melbourne Cup luncheon - very nice. And I drew Delta Blues in the sweep - only a $1 sweep so I won $10 which won't get me a trip to Europe but is was the excitement of getting the winning horse that matters. Our plumber who we've had lined up for months to connect our rainwater tank rang this morning and said he is so snowed under he won't be able to connect it until next year!! He said he wouldn't be offended if we tried to get someone else that could come sooner so Chris has been on the phone all day and found someone who can come on 24th November so at least it's earlier than next year! There are so many people getting tanks and plumbers are really busy. We'll just hope all the rain doesn't come before 24th November. I don't think I told you that we went to hear Saffire, the Australian Guitar Quartet on Sat evening. They were just incredible - so talented. Played a lot of renaissance type music - wonderful. Of course we bought one of their CD's and I'm listening to it as I'm typing. Slava Grigoryan and his yummy young brother Leonard (he's only 21 and looks and plays like an angel!) make up half of the quartet. How are you going Queenie? Hope the lights are going up OK and that the boys haven't fallen off the roof yet! Think it will be an easy tea since I've eaten a delightful lunch - maybe toast and vegemite for the family tonight - as if! Katherine is home from school sick - has a viral thing so she's stressed because she's missing out on school and it's getting so close to exam time. 'Til later XX Anna |

Yeah! I won, first and second, don't know how much, it won't be a lot 'cause I only put $2 each way on both of them, might pay for a cert. though. Got a nasty letter in the post demanding money and offering me 6 demerit points.(it was a holiday weekend and it attracts more points) what a cheek, especially when I wasn't driving the car, my dear daughter or her boyfriend were. It happened when they went to NSW for that wedding and they had borrowed the car. Guess who's going to be phoning UK tonight. luv Jillx |

Valda - who are you looking for??? - tell us all, we love to help. I won $1.50 today - paid out $7, so am down $5.50. .. Had a very busy day - head down, b*m up, was sooo tired by the time the cup was run, and then had to help sort out the winning peep's money. .. Although we balanced originally counting all the cash, managed to have $1 over after we filled up the envelopes :( .. All the ladies had a good time, and there was plenty to eat. .. Jood |

Valda If you are looking for Aussie Ancestors the others like Tony and Laurie are more experienced as I dont have any to speak of.. I tried to find a convict but they all got taken and ther wasent one for me. I did find a jailbird in the 1861 census so I will have to be happy with that. Tassie Good job you didnt lose any money.. shame you didnt win some also..lol Love Mary xxx |

Mary... thanks for the informattion. I've looked there but it is always worth another shot. SuzyQ ... (that's what we call our daughter, Susannah)... Thanks for the tip. I'll watch for the coloured ones. Qld... haven't been there in ages! I do have connections though. My Dad was born there and grew up there. His Dad owned and trained race horses - no Cup winners though, that I know of! |

Hi Wattlers Hi Valda, now don't beleive every thing you hear. I am the sanest member, I live in the best state Qld. Whatever you do, don't take up Lew's offer of any pills, not even the bright coloured ones. Well done JA, I hope you backed it. Don't know where mine came but I think it did better than Lews gg the fav Tawqeet. Just shows you never can tell who will win the Melbourne Cup. Thank goodness thats over for another year. All we have to suffer now is the repeats on the news and Current affairs. That drives you crazy. By the way my couture for today, pink velour shorts, navy sleeveless T, barefeet, oh and pink knickers. Thats all. It is very hot and humid today. I dined on salmon ( the tinned variety) and salad and had a glass of diet pub squash. Tony, I hope the meeting went well, there would have to be something very wrong with him if he can't get on with you. Ducky and Trifley, hope you are both getting through the day okay. Flakey, I am glad that your mum is feeling better, its good if she can do some things for herself. Is the mouth sore Laurie? Never mind you can have soup for tea. I would love to take you up on your offer of lunch on the balcoonie. Can you send me an airline ticket please. I am sure I have left some thing out, but they grey matter isn't on top form. Luv to everyone SuzyQ |

Valda Ancestry UK gives all the available english census and the 1841 Scottish census. It also has the UK Births Deaths and Marriages from 1837 to the late 1900. or perhaps the mid 1900 cant quite remember. Have you tried Family Search site. That is great site and I have found a lot on there. Not a lot of Scotland but some.. The Scottish census are on Scotlands People which is the official site for records in Scotland. This is a pay to view site and you get 30 credits for 6pounds I think .. If you are having trouble finding any english ancestors let me know and I will see what I can do. Well must off as I have family ariving for dinner..All the others must be having to much champagne and by now feeling nicely nicely..lol Back later if I can. Love Mary xxxxx |
