Day Three Dear Nuala, We must be foremost in your thoughts. I had only posted my letter when the three French hens arrived. There was another sort-out between the hens and the doves, who sided with the partridge, and the vet had to be sent for again. The mother was raging because the bill was £16 this time but she has almost cooled down. However, the fact that the birds' droppings keep falling down on her hair while she's watching the telly, doesn't help matters. Thanking you for your kindness. I remain, Your Gobnait

Hi Shazz. That was nice to have a visit from the Printhess...You is honoured.. John went to see his GP today and I think they are both hitting their heads against a brick wall. We now start on a case of eliminations, and see if they can work out what his problem is,, Starting with all sorts of blood tests and anything else they can think of. I have this awful feeling I am going around in circles. He is steadily getting worse and his legs are getting weaker each week.He might be in a wheel chair if this keeps up much longer. Well this time I am off to bed.. Love Mary xxx

Does anyone else have a cute little tree just before the URL above and also next to the gene entries in their favourites? Is Genes doing a Chrissy thing or a family history thing? Vonny

Hi guys Don't worry - I haven't forgotten the Lotto - am sending it to Tony forthwith. Problem is I can't remember what to do!! Had an absolutely marvellous day in Brisvegas. Went through the new State Library and the new Modern Art Gallery. Wouldn't give you tuppence for the modern art thought - it's really just a big joke as far as I'm concerned. Went to the National Treasures exhibit at the Library and it was truly wonderful - Captain Cook's log, Joseph Banks notebook, original manuscripts and drafts from Banjo Patterson, Norman Lindsay, Patrick White and Tim Winton - I could go on and on. Do go to see it if it comes your way. And was able to find an article from the Courier Mail from 1954 and copy it for Chris's family history - his Aunt returning for a visit to Brisbane from America after she had gone there as a war bride. And - whilst we were in Brisbane, we had another 25mls of rain! Very heavy with tremendous wind gusts apparently but fortunately no damage at our place. A few streets away there are trees down and a shed blown away. We have even more water in our tank now! Thanks everyone for the great jokes and cards and assorted mesages - I will get around to answering them soon. Have a lovely eening X Anna

Evening all you lovely Wattlers, What a brill downpour we had today - except that it happened just as I was about to get out of the car to go into the office this morning and had to sit and wait for it to pass otherwise I knew my skirt would become semi-transparent in the rain!! - Horrid sight!! My menfolk are still somewhere down in Victoria, left here early Monday morning and not heard from them since, but I can tell from the credit card where they have visited!!! Ladies it was lovely to catch up with you all last week on the balcoonie at the Princess's place and again in the gutter at Shazz's on Saturday night. Especially nice to finally meeting Lara and Fluffy, you both looked as though you enjoyed yourselves. Will off and catch up with some ironing as I am hoping to hit the city tomorrow for a spot of shopping. Lyn ( still without a christmas name)

Arvo...:>)) TGIF. Streets are busy around Melb, and the cooler weather is making it more comfortable for shoppers. SusyQ. Love that joke. It is an oldie, but always brings a smile. Hiya Jood.Have a great holiday mate. Gwenda. Have been listening to that 12 days of Xmas on the car radio, and it always makes me laugh. Speaking Geno, a lady in next suburb to us, was pictured in our local paper. Myra Nicholson ( nee Leviston ) Born Dec 1894 Clarke's Hill ( near Bendigo ) the oldest living person in our area, and apparently also Australia, celebrating her 112th birthday with a kiss on the cheek from her 77 year old son. Myra says, longevity runs in her family-- both parents living to 92 years of age, and a sister lived to 103. Hope everyones had a great day. Off to light the Barbie and get the hungry mouths fed. Hi Wattlers, It is trying very hard to rain. Think there is so much humidity it is just falling out of the sky. One of those awful summer days that we get in Queensland. I hope the firies have had a slightly easier day today, I think cooler weather was forecast. It is all very sad and distressing and it looks like there is no end in sight for them. I think all entertainment and media awards should be cancelled this year and give them to the people who really deserve them. Glad you are feeling better Trifley, do you have more treatments before Christmas? I think it just thundered? Not staying long, but thought I would send you this little joke. Its an old one but gave me a good chuckle. OLD BUT GOOD!... GLOVES AS A XMAS PRESENT A Young man called Ron wanted to buy his new girlfriend a Christmas present. As they hadn't been seeing each other for very long, he decided after careful consideration, that a pair of gloves would strike the right note, not too romantic and not too personal. He went with his girlfriend's sister to Harrods and bought a dainty pair of white fur lined gloves. The sister bought a pair of knickers for herself at the same time. During the wrapping the shop assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Ron got the knickers, Without checking Ron sealed the package and sent it to his new girlfriend with the following letter:- Dear Sasha, I chose these because I've noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for your sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones which are easier to remove. These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and they were hardly soiled at all. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that the pair rubs her ring which helps keep it clean and shiny, In fact she hasn't needed to wash it since she began wearing them, I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again. When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing. Just think how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year. I hope you will wear them for me on Friday night. With all my love, Ron P.S. The latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing. Bye for now Luv SuzyQ

Oooooh Tony - a man from Essex like your ancestors. Hi all, I was still up at 6 this morning, but to beat you lot, I'd have to get up at 4, and I dont think I'll bother thank you!! .. Slept really well all night which was good, as usually the first night in a strange bed keeps you awake. The body is resting, but the jaw and mouth are working overtime here (talking and eating - you know, brekky, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper).... I'm not about to complain. .. Haven't been near the shops yet, for which I am grateful, but I do have a few small pressies to buy yet. Weather warming up here, but it's cool inside. Love to all Jood

Yes, Lovely County Essex. Visited it with the Mrs last year in August. My lot are origionally from 1500s Colchester , Earls Colne, Braintree, Halstead, Lexden, Coggeshall, Great Tey, Kelvendon, Brentwood. Many of my family branched out to all over Essex from 1600s to late 1800s with some moving to Ashingdon, and Basildon. Nice to see you drop in Peter, and dont be a stranger. Mostly all Ozzie's on this thread but many born in England as well. Lots of freindly Brits drop in to say hello. Have a great day Mate. Back to work for me. 2:30 pm here. Tony Oz...:>)) *Rudes *
