Greetings everyone, Have had a social few days, topped off with a waifs Xmas last night for assorted friends spending Xmas elsewhere or working etc, had fabulous roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings etc. On Xmas day itself we are going to friends in the afternoon so I don’t have to cook (am in charge of summer pudding or berry fool or the like, all recipe suggestions gratefully received – no wheat though - ) Took ages reading all the posts and loved it- can’t wait to get each day’s “gift” lol, atm our cat is pouncing on the decorations she can reach hanging from the tree, ringing bells and getting her claws into the tinsel! One very excited FH person here, thanks to Tony’s AVRI, I have finally “proved” a connection I long suspected between some families on UK Census, at last I found a death in Vic where the mothers maiden name is listed and so the two families are cousins after all. I already know the ship one lot came out on and I’m betting the cousins may have come on the same one, if so I’ll be so chuffed!! Anna, saw news about your storm up there, how full is the tank?? You must be so pleased you went ahead to get it in. No good the storm damage for others though. OK I’m going back to dead people as the house is quiet and I can indulge today. I’m going to see “Prairie Home Companion” later today, looking forward to Meryl Streep singing! Hope all of you are mending, take it easy today, Mwah and ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hz |

Good Morning from another beautiful sunny day in down town Melbin. Laurie. Sounds though you need a holiday. Jood. Glad to hear all was well with BIL Looking forward to our local Carols by candlelight to-night with my family. Perfect weather for it. The Whitehorse Council puts on a great evening, and takes in many of the surrounding surburbs. Last year we had the great singing voice of Dennis Walter, and he will be singing again this year. They have the traditional pantomine of the three wise kings on camels that walk though the crowds of people to arrive at the nativity set stage of the birth of Christ, with everyone holding lit candles showing the way. Its after this event ( Carols ) that Barb and i get into the spirit of Xmas, and always come away feeling relaxed. We live 5 min walk from the Council park, so no need to drive, and the place will be packed. Food stalls are open for a bite to eat, and hundreds of kids will run madly around with lit up chrissy head gear and multi coloured fluro arm bands driving their parents crazy, but we woundn't miss it for the world, a great evening of entertainment. Av a good un. Rudes.....:>)) |

Good news Anna - b-i-l is ok - they went from one hospital to another emergency hospital, and was checked out. .. They said he could go home. .. My sister was texting me - I was trying to keep my eyes open, it was nearly midnight when they got back. A friend of mine said that a violent sneeze can cause the circulation to be cut off. .. He seems fine this morning, we wil soon be going out to brekky as planned. I too was exhausted mentally walking up and down those 7 flights of stairs. .. I think I would have got a long piece of string and dangled the mobile phone down to the ground floor, but it could not be done there. Have togo now - to the brekky shop. Back later Jood |

Day Four Dear Nuala, You mustn't have received my last letter when you were sending us the four calling birds. There was pandemonium in the pear-tree again last night and the vet's bill was £32. The mother is on sedation as I write. I know you meant no harm and remain your close friend. Gobnauit |

Good morning Wattlers . . . for it is gone midnight! I have had a very big day, and it lasted too long . . . teehee I was off to station early this morning to pick up Marg & the boys, then to a vietnamese restraunt as the boys wanted noodles, then back here and the lift was broken so walked 7 floors up, then down again to take mobile phone to old man in foyer so he could talk with his wife up here while he waited for the lift to be fixed, then back up 7 floors, then down again to get extra seats in Pajero set up for the next outing then back up 7 floors and get ready then down again to go out to the station again to pick up Lynn and Eleesha. Picked up Lynn & Eleesha and we all went off for a drive thru city, then back to Irene and Henrys apartment in the city and 11 of us walked down to a Japanese restraunt for dinner, then back to Irenes so the children could all wear themselves out playing then back here at 11.45pm . . . I am exhausted just thinking about it . . . Tomorrow is another day . . . Lyn is off back to Canberra, and were off back to China town!! I need a holiday I think !!! Or maybe I need a loan of some laughing gas . . . TLR arrived in Jakarta OK, went to the office this morning and reports he went to the tailor to have 4 new pairs of trousers made, he was having a winge that the last lot didn't last long . . . till the tailor told him it was 4 years since he had the last batch made. Christmas rush has hit over there too . . . siad it took two and half hours to go from office to Manga Dua . . . usually a 30 minute trip. Hot with lots of rain in the evenings apparently. It was funny watching and listening to little Aussie Eleesha playing with 4 little Indonesian children today, she started coming over and asking me what they were saying, but in the end just went with the flow and seemed to understand what they were saying, then it was back to me to not ask what they were saying, but to ask how can I say such and such in Indonesian. At dinner tonight she was determined to eat with chopsticks . . . one in each hand . . . so proud of herself she was! Picking up those slippery little sucker noodles with the chopsticks didn't phase her one little bit . . . it looked so funny I had to get a few snaps. Ah well all have settled for the night so I had best go get some shut eye . . . Take care all . . . healing hugs for those in need, you are all in my thoughts and prayers luv Laurie |

Rudes, you will be spending your years salary in one week!!! .. Oh well, as you say - its Xmas. .. pmsl I'm REALLY going to bed now. Nite all Jood |
