Jood, It is a special balloon festival at the moment and goes till next Sunday so if you can get the rest of the group to agree it is great watching them launch but wear warm clothes, hats, scarfs and gloves (I forgot my gloves this morning!!) You can actually go to the launching site and watch them fill or just position yourself around the lake and watch them float. Depends on the weather of course and how much wind as to which way they float - for the last few days they have been travelling west down the lake. :) Vonny |

Good morning Wattlers all What a quiet morning on the Wattler's thread - is everyone sleeping off Easter? Too much chocolate and too many hot cross buns!! Poor Lara - hope you've found the Lindt eggs by now!! Congratulations Jood - hope mother and beautiful grandson Lucas are doing well. Enjoy the cuddles. Devly - you can't be home yet or we'd have heard you crowing by now!! Hope the trip went well and that the weather eventually improved for you. Mary - there were about 300 people at the reunion - from Victoria, Northern territory, NSW and lots from Queensland of course. They were allowed to camp in the school grounds. I've really enjoyed browsing through the family history book they produced - so much information and I'm astounded at the people I have family connections with that I wasn't aware of before. One of my great aunts had 15 children and others all had big families too so there are lots of descendants. Laurie - where are you - you came back for 2 seconds then disappeared again! Suzy Q - your drive into the country sounded delightful - I love getting away from the crowds. Yesterday we drove out of town to a coffee shop away from the Easter crowds at our local Gospel Music Festival which attracts 1000's of people and it was so peaceful with views out over the countryside. Funny thing was, they had a big advertisement there looking for 'Grumpy Old Men'. I have volunteered Chris as they are trying to start up a club in a huge shed they have there for retirees interested in wood work and will made toys, furntiture etc to sell. One of the reasons they give for starting the club is: 'Provide a venue to get retired men away from the house so women can play bridge or go shopping. To quote from the book 'Bloke's Sheds' a woman said she married her husband for better or worse but not for lunch every day.' Don't you love it - I'm going to give him a lot of encouragement to join!! Lew - do you have a new pawphan - you didn't make that clear? You'll have to stay out of the spa or you'll look like a prune when you send us the photos! Suzy Q - son has found a house which would be OK and has put in an application for it but nothing doing over Easter so hopefully they will find out tomorrow if they can get it. If so, we will be moving them this week as the rental house is available immediately. It's not too bad - nice backyard with room for grandson and dog and cat, 3 bedrooms, new kitchen, lock up garage which has internal access to the house. The colours inside are very dark purple, very dark navy blue, very dark plum which makes it a bit gloomy but hey - it's in quite good condition inside. Outside is fairly ordinary though. There's just nothing around under $200 a week. I guess that must sound like a joke to you people living in the big smoke - I'm sure rentals would be much higher there, but son's budget doesn't stretch to more than that. Well - think I'll go and do a little baking - cake tins are empty after the long weekend. Rebs - we'll be sending out a search party - better check in and let us know you are OK. Catch you all later. Anna Waves to Vonny and Jood who snuck in while I was typing! |

Hi Anna, glad to hear your son might have finally found some accommodation. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of places that will take pets. My 2 pawphans are toys sold by the RSPCA. They represent my cat Chester and my friend's cat Harry who also recently died. Vonny, sounds like the balloons looked beautiful. Terry and I went ballooning once in the Hunter Valley and we crash landed! Quite spectacular. Hit a tree about 60 feet off the ground, plummetted to the ground and then dragged along the ground for another 100 metres. Luckily no one was hurt. All the cars had stopped to watch and we thought they were about to hold up score cards, you know, 9.5 for artistic content, 8 for execution, LOL. It certainly was memorable. The following year, we went dog sledding in the White River National Park in Aspen and we also crashed! I broke my sternum and that hurt a lot. It was then I started to wonder whether Hubby was trying to knock me off, pmsl. Anyway, I've learnt my lesson and don't do anything remotely dangerous with him, just in case! More friends coming over for dinner tonight, so think we'll have a barbie. Lew Lew xxx |

Afternoon Wattlers. Lovely day in Melb. Sun shinning, and resonable warm outside, so Sue ( Tassie ) should be pleased. Hope everyone had a great Easter, and family day or whatever you did. Vonny. The balooning sounds great, and what a sight it must have been to be able to watch and follow them. They have early morning Balloon rides over Melb. ( city ) most mornings, and normally can see them at sunrise drifting over Melb. as i venture onto the Freeway heading into the City. Joodle. Glad i was able to make your friend in Q.L.D happy mate with the W.A link. Talking about Spa's, ( Jacuzzi )we have 2. One outdoors and one indoors. Outside is a 8 seater and my job to-day is to clean it, and change the filter......lol Great for relaxing tired muscle's, or just sitting around in them sipping on Pina Colada's or whatever...:>)) We will be needing a new heater for our's soon ,so more expense coming up...:>(( Still finding more relo's in Oz ( S.A ) on my Grandmothers line, and made contact with decendants from her Uncle yesterday. Have a nice day whatever your doing. Tony Oz...:>)) |

Arvo Wattlers I've just seen the 2's & 3's thread........well done Vonny & Anna <<<clap>>>. I'm learning at least one new word a day because of you two. My god Vonny........where on earth do you get some of those words??? I have trouble pronouncing some of them, let alone know what they mean!!! Sissoo???? had to look that one up......didn't know garden books were allowed. You'll have to look out now...I have a beauty Mark got me for my birthday 2 years ago. Vonny...........window shopping of any sort is good but the antique type is best of all. Have a great time. You might have to wear dark glasses in case the photographers find you lol. Anna...the family book sounds great. Where do you get something like that published? Glad to hear your son has found a house. If the walls are dark then perhaps he could pick up a couple of cheap mirrors to hang up and reflect the light. Also some light pastel coloured prints from say..........Crazy Clarks will also add a little brightness to the place. Lew Lew......I know the RSPCA pawphans are good but not the same as a real live cat. Are you going to get another one? I'm still wandering around in shorts and sleeveless tops and the windows are all open so I guess I have better weather than some of you in the colder climbs. I'm sending warm thoughts to you all. Has anyone seen Reb's? She hasn't been around for a few days and I was wondering if she was ok. Happy ~~~~~waves and big <<<hugs>>> from me on the royal barge to all of you. love Trifley Queen of the Nile |

Yeah right, Clucky! I'm 45 in July, never had kids and hubby has 3 (adults) from his first marriage. I saw what he produced the first time round and, trust me, I ain't never gunna swim in that genetic pool. His Mum and I used to get a real kick out of the fact that we weren't really 'McMahons', just married into it. Pets are better. Thinking of getting another cat (siamese), but will probably wait until I RETIRE!!!!! Lew Lew :-))))))))))))))))) |

Trifley, I'm now using a large, two volume World Dictionary. My other old dictionary is an Oxford from the early 1960's. I figure as long as it's a conventional dictionary it's fair game! (but I usually only have fun with unusual words when it's just us playing) Trouble with the English language is that there are a really limited number of word endings which mean that the same words have to be used often - bit boring. So it's fun using words derived from other sources. I always check that another follow on word is possible though. The Antique store was a little bit disappointing. Still chockers with loads of interesting stuff but the owner has discovered 'Asiana' and all the fair dinkum Aussie stuff is being superceeded. :( Catch you later Vonny |

OH you crazy lot.. Seems like we are all suffering from CRAFT,, It must be the easter eggs,,,LOL too much chocky cant be good for the brain...LOL... Well we traded in the 4wd for a Honda Civic.. It is a new model only just out and it is beautiful to drive and fantastic inside.. lots of new styling , even the brake and gear handle are a bit different..If you get a chance to see inside one do as it is so cumfy..It is not a expensive car but it has so much more than other cars for the same price you cannot compare them, It has cruise controle which is a must with the long distances we travel here in OZ...We are getting a white one as there is one due in the country end April early may so we are hopeing that it comes in before my Uncle arrives. It is near impossible to buy one at the moment as they are all sold out..They did have one in stock but it was a black one with tinted windows,,LOL I told John its to much like a herse so that was it.. no thanks..should sell it to a funeral parlour.. Lara Got the lovely picks from JA what a lovely walk.. Canberra has some lovely places and I do love it there...hope to see her when I go down.. Err Joodles, What dictionary on my computer?? cuwl. I have no idea where it is. And if you mean google etc I am sooooo slow typing that it's faster to look in the book!!! plus I can't spell (I have a mild form of dyslexia) But I'll try it if you tell me where it is! Did any of you see the Guiness Book of Records show last night??? They had two older men who took on the challenge to send a message in morse code, receive it and type it out on an old typewriter while another guy text the same message to a mobile phone. Morse code was faster!!!!! Cheers, Vonny |
