Haven't been here for ages. Hope everyone is doing fine. What has been going on? It will take me ages to read through all the posts I have missed, so I'm asking for a quick update. I've had a minor success with finding a branch of my tree I have been stuck on. I am now in the process of trying to check the details I have been given. Going to take me a while. Feels good to take a step forward. Son out of work. He is now on the Centrelink roundabout again. They are messing him around quite a bit. Wish they would talk to each other and get their facts right. No matter how often we tell them something they mess it up. But thats another gripe. Cheers Peta |

OMG...........it doesn't seem very long since she went away. Hope you have a safe final leg of your journey, Laurie. Hi Peta.....I haven't met you before.......(sends big wave ~~~~~~hello). Your son is dealing with a Gov't department so the going will be s l o o o w. Tell him to keep at it and he will wear them down in time. Devely........yaaayyyy 8.8kgs! Atta girl you've got it by the throat now the rest will be easier. You're not a football fan by any chance are you? You mentioned having a few trinkets of your favourite club. I'm sure your hubby will not mind a few more about the place lol :o) Hi SuzyQ.....Don't let broadband worry you........even I was able to set it up and I'm puta illiterate. You will be amazed at the difference it will make. It's the best invention since sliced bread. Hi Heather.....thanks for the tip about google 'Ixquick' I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. A big ~~~~~~~wave to you too another new cyber-friend. Vonny...Hope you catch some nice fish on your trip to Eden. I've heard its a lovely place for a relaxing holiday. Joodles......did you get to eat any of the food prepared on 'Ready, Steady, Cook'? How did you score tickets to the show? It must have been a long day all the way from the Mountains. I was doing some research this evening on GR and found (or didn't find) my 'Hot Matches' had disapeared. I noticed a thread about this earlier today but mine was alright then. Has anyone else noticed things 'missing'? It's getting late and I have to be up before the sparrows f **t in the morning so I will say a cheery goodnight to everyone and head off to bed. See y'all later. ~~~~~a most regal wave and a <<<<hug>>>> to those I've missed talking to, love Trifley, Queen of the Nile |

Hi again Wattlers I've just had a quick run through of another thread which is complaining that GR should have moderators on this site. There seems to be a lot of very unhappy peeps on the other side of the world who are not happy about certain nasty people who are members. I know this seems a little confused but it appears that our Rebs is not the only person to receive a bad PM. The thread is....'I'm surprised that GR....' by Jess Bow Bobbin Dog. Some VERY upset peeps have put posts on this thread. Is the Wattle Club one of the few threads which has nice people on it?? love Trifley |

Goooooooooood morning Wokklers Guess who I got an email from?????? Our canny Michael - he's home - but only just. Give him a few days to catch up on sleep and he's promised to tell us all about his trip. He had no access to putas while he was away. When the cyclone hit, he was in Mackay. So at least we know he's alive and well. Wine Queen - no I didnt get to sample any food (mind you the boys behind the camera work very fast !) Its usually only people in the front seat. I went as part of a group of 15 - I dont think its that hard to get tickets, but be warned, the chairs are very very hard (my poor poor b*m) Only got one eye open this morning - think I might totter back to bed for a while. Love Jood |

Morning all, Beaten by Joodles - but I'm not going back to bed - haha It has just started spitting with rain here - finally - it's been promised for most of the week - of course how long it will last - that's another story. Trifley - I read that thread too - what a bunch of sad sacks (shouldn't take my cat's name in vain) - ever since I started reading this board they have had constant arguments from that side of the world - this thread is such a contrast and we should be congratulated - but then we are Aussies and we just know how to have FUN. Anna - thanks for buying the ticket - let's hope they are lucky nos. Hope you had all your lucky charms with you. Peta - welcome back - I was wondering what had happened. Good luck with your new contact. Hope things work out for your son. Devly - congrats on the weight loss - nice and steady is a good way to go. Guess Lew Lew is getting stuck into the packing - hope the move goes well on Saturday - how exciting. Babs - hope you hear from your son soon - my daughter holidayed in New York a couple of years back and I had to ring and ask her to let us know that she had arrived okay - they really are a worry. Laurie - welcome home - hope you've had a good flight and we look forward to your diary - always makes us feel like we are there. SuzyQ - you will love broadband - you'll be able to pop in and out all day now!!! Hi to Mike our canny lad - glad to know you are safe and well - we look forward to hearing all about your trip too. Brekky is waiting so I'll say cheerio for now. ~~~waving~~~ to everyone else I haven't mentioned. I'll pop back in later, but have to start packing for my weekend away and have some family stuff to print off for my family gathering so better get on with it. Gwenda |

Morning Wattlers We have some rain - just enough to wet the ground but hopefully more. We have been on water restrictions so long now I don't think we will ever get back off them. Goulburn are talking now about carting it in and the local newspapers are making a lot of noise about the cost. Could somebody help me please? I am helping my cousin who I found recently in Canada and she has a photo with some writing that leads her to think the rellie might have gone to New Zealand. I have tried googling for genealogy in NZ, got through to Dept of internal affairs site but try as I might cannot get to the BMD part to search for reference nos etc. Got through to the probate section easily but with very little information I thought BMD would be the easiest way to go. Also, are there any sites in NZ that are similar to Genes in the way of messages?? I was referred to Ancestry and tried that but didn't seem to like what I was inputting. Any help would be appreciated - thanks. Welcome back Laurie - will look forward to hearing about your trip and also about the giraffes as well. Many thanks for the email Tony re lotto. Lara - love the emails - especially liked the one about the parrot on tv as well as the two piano players. Showed it to hubby and he tried very hard not to laugh, he didn't know whether to laugh or to look stern lol. Will show them to my daughter when she arrives next week. Have a good day everyone. *packing, packing, packing, puff, puff, puff* Morning All. Why can't you just leave everything behind when you move and just get new stuff??? Got so carried away with chucking stuff out that I nearly got rid of Hubby, lol. No, better keep him for a bit longer - need help unpacking!!!!! G'day to everybody and a big smile and hug to all. Thanks Anna, I've received the Lotto and the numbers look real promising. Better Win, so then I won't unpack. I'll just hire some slaves to do it, whilst I lounge in the pool and point and whistle. Ahhhh. Haven't read the nasty threads and don't intend to. Life is too short to become involved with that kind of stuff. Just happy to read this thread, make a guest appearance in the Naughty Corner and say g'day to Our Em every afternoon (morning for her). Of course, I also chat with Fair Anne who is about to start my scarf (hooray). Leave the sad threads for the sad people who contribute to them! Will try to drop in over the weekend, but moving computers so I mightn't have access, but I'll know if we win Lotto, lol, and I'll find you, don't you worry! Hooray for Miss Devil and her weight loss - good for you. You must be very proud. Vonny, my Aunt and cousins live in Bright, so maybe you can call in and visit them on your way to Yarrawonga. They're quite partial to fish! Loved the joke, Anna. I'll share that one with the office. Babs, are you at all surprised that your son hasn't been in touch. He's a bloke!!!! It just doesn't occur to them (oops, sorry, Tony - but you're more like one of the girls). Sorry, Jood, aint' gunna make it to Yarrawonga. Just too much happening with the new house, etc., etc. Welcome home Laurie. Hope you found lots of dead people, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Thanks for the lxquick hint Heather. I'll give it a go and let you know how I fair. Oh SuzyQ, you are going to adore broadband! It's sooooo fast. Well, must away and get some work done. Waves to Queen Trifle, Gwenda, Leah and everybody. Just reading through the messages and boy you lot move fast.. took me ages just to read yesterdays .. thank goodness there is no agro in this thread.. have just been reading some of the others and cant work out how they can go on that way.. I always told my kids it was much easier to be nice than to be nasty..takes too much thinking working out how to be nasty whereas being nice comes naturally...I have met the nicest peeps on this thread and you are all top class in my book.. Anna Thanks for getting the lotto ticket.. Hope it is the winning one... Sue What a nice person you are and thank goodness for a patient David...LOL...He sounds nice..Have a lovely holiday at Easter and stay well..You are going so well with your diet,, congratulations,, can you let me know what diet it is as it sounds like a good one and I need to loose a lot...ate to much over in NZ... Heather thanks for the tip.. will give it a go.. try anything to break down these brick walls.. Susan.. Glad you had a win on lotto ,, save it for the trip to the uk...Glad you are going on to broadband ,,it is so much better..dont have to worry about anyone trying to get you on the phone and cant get through because you are on the net.. Hope Neville went OK at the docs. and that you are keeping well also.. worry about you a bit my girl.. Tony I think you are a bit down about Sydney winning the Grand Final last year..I wont mind if someone else wins it this year,, we like to share,,we are very generous peeps up here in Sydney.. Hi Peta Nice to see ya back.. Hope your son finds a job soon.. it is a bit of a worry isnt it..glad you are having a little success with the tree, wish I could do the same but my head is getting flatter by the day hitting it against the brick wall. Joodles.. Did you enjoy the TV show.. and did you get to sample some of the food.. I find that show frustrating as they dont have enough time to tell you what they are doing ..It all seems so rushed ...Glad you got a email from Michael,, pity he didnt get in touch while he was here.. but never mind..as long as he had a good holiday...perhaps we will see him on here soon.. Lara Nice to see ya girl.. hope you are looking after yourself.. Leah. I have a site where peeps in NZ will do lookups for you. It is in Auckland I think..I will find it and let you know..I dont know of any site like GR in NZ but if you know where they lived in NZ try googling the town and the council will have the records of the cemetary on their books and my be able to help.. I have the email addy for the chap in New Plymouth if that is where they lived. Will get back to you with the website.. Lew.. Any hints on how to get rid of 40 years of hoarding.. We are hoping to move this year so need any help and advice I can get.. Good luck with the move and enjoy your new house..One day we might be able to have a meet at Lithgow with Joodles and any others who live around the place...the electric train goes to Lithgow so it wouldnt be to hard..???? Laurie Welcome home mate and hope you are not suffering from jetlag to much.. dont need to ask if you had a nice holiday as I am sure you did.. cant wait to catch up and hear all about it..have a rest and about 2 in the morning you will be awake enough to pop on here and put in an appearance as you will be wide awake...LOL Well better go and do some work,, dosent pay to not visit everyday as it takes so long to do a message... Mary - you missed some of our pages while you were away. LewLew has asked us up to camp on her property in Mudgee in February when her OH is away. Remember she was going to organize a drive in for us? And you were going to run round with your torch - hahaha But we will definitely get to the Casino soon - as soon as HM arrives home and gives us a date. Mary, we didnt get samples, only some of the people in the front row (plus all the male staff who rushed up!). The recipes are in a book obtainable from supermarket $2.95 - I'll find it and give you the name of it. It would be about a month later than the show tho, I'd imagine. Jood |

Good Afternoon all, I think we may have the lucky numbers this week., but if not, we must have them for the week after. It's 21 million. or is it the week after/ I am really looking forward to broadband. At the moment I can play a card game while waiting for a page to come up, it's very frustrating. I was told to ring back the middle of next week to organise it, as the exchange won't be ready until the 31st. Then it will take about a week. It will be good to have the phone line free, and it won't cost any more than I pay now, because I won't have the phone calls. Also I get it half price for 9 months, so infact it will be cheaper. Also I get more downloads. Are you home yet Laurie?? Wakey Wakey. Have you thawed out yet? Yes Mary, Neville is okay. How is John? Devely, you are so good. I would like to loose about 15kilos but I am not very good at sticking to a diet. Neville and I are going to see a dietician next week, but what I would really like is a personal chef and a trainer thown in. Who knows, if we win my dream might come true. It's another sunny day here, started out a bit cloudy. Rain forecast for tomorrow so i hope that it comes. We seem to be getting battered from both sides, last I heard was that Gwenda ( sorry Glenda ) had been dowgraded. I hope everyone comes through this one okay. Hope everyone is fine, Good Luck with the move Lew. I would love to move but it all seems like too much just now. Hope you all have a great weekend Love SuzyQ |

Hi SuzyQ, Yes it's Glenda blowing like crazy over in the west and not me this time - lol I had one named after me a few years back - was good and didn't cause too much damage. Haven't done any packing yet - but have done a folder of family info. Daughter has just got her birthday pressie off layby - digital camera - so she is playing around with that. I'm taking it with me so I will have the whole drive to SA to read the manual and hopefully understand how to use it. Gotta go, still lots to do. I'll be back next Tuesday, so keep the messages short or I'll never catch up. Good luck to all the footy followers - may your team have a win. Hope I'll be CROWing but Tony won't be happy if I am - lol Take care everyone, cu next week Gwenda |

I haven't been on for a couple of days, so hope everyone is well. I am on dial up too, and would love broad band......one day. I have had a couple of positive hot matches, so added with my lucky break from the Bendigo fair, i have soooo much tree to work on, can't wait to get a chance to get to it. Plus I bought an update to the family tree program i use and need a work free day to load it on. The program designer suggests that i delete the old prog and then load on the updated one. He says that the computer will hang on to the info on the old prog. Has anyone done this and is it true. I think i would find him and kill him if i lost any info, lol. I have backed up on about five discs, so should be alright, but still nervous. Nice to hear everyones news. Take care all catch up again soon, Wilson |

Hi Joodles I am using Legacy, love the program and just want to up date it. I used to just download from the internet the new update, but last time i did that, i ended up with a corrupt file and have been a bit shy of direct downloads since then. It took me ages ( like a couple of months) to get into my family tree file and even though i had eveything backed up to disc, because my program had a problem i couldn't get access my info. Took phone calls and emails to the US to rectify the problem, so not keen to go down that ally again. I thought i had lost all the years of work that goes into family research. I am much more careful now and have hard copies of everything. Trifley, i have to agree this is a lovely thread, i hate it when i can't check in for a few days. Take care Wilson |

Wilson, I have Legacy (and another family History program) - I have the paid version, there is a free version also. If you have the paid for version, you just click on Internet in the top line, and then 'Check for Legacy Update', if there is an update, it just comes down and goes into your program, you dont have to do anything (maybe reboot at the end, but it would tell you). You shouldnt have to go on line to update it. I dont know why you would have got a corrupt file. My family history is in another file, and is not affected by the download. Jood |
