Hi all Thanks for your input, I have stopped access, although I dont have much in the tree only what you would call main branches and their children only. I also had another look and they still have names and dates of my parents and grandparent so I will keep watch while I have access to their tree to see if they change it. Girls now want puta for a while, try and get back on later. Cheers Sue |

Lunch time :) Good move Tassie. The peeps that STILL have my daughter listed haven't replied to my email of month's ago! You can ask GR to over-rule if they don't reply in a reasonable time. I have also noticed that effect of people floating around apparently unattached but it is a peculiarity of the system I think. If you follow 'downwards' from your rellie to their rellies I notice that not all the links show up. If you start at them and follow 'upward' through their rellies to your rellie then all the links are shown. BUT you can't do this if you don't know how they are connected. I did manage it on one person's tree by trial and error and guesswork but it was a small tree!! Has anyone else noticed this? (or an I talking double-dutch?) Whoops, lunch time over, back to work. ~~~~~~~~~Vonny |

Vell Vonny, your dutch is very good. I've also had that same problem. I'm afraid it's just trial and error. Having trouble with the kittens. I'm afraid they're just going to be too wild for me to catch. Buggar! Lew Lew xxx |

Hi all, Just had an amusing chat with two older locals reminiscing about East Albury and the train station - apparantly the kids years ago knew how to get into the drains under the railway line which were big enough to cycle through. In summer they would put corks on the end of their bike handles, go into the drain and turn south towards the river, and cycle down flat out, ending up out in the river with their floating bicycles!! In winter they would pour hot water into the bike handles to keep themselves warm when riding to school (corks again I expect!!). Hz in Albury |

Afternoon. Sunny at the moment in Melb. Sue. I agree with everyone else who commented. If you yourself cant find out how this person is connected, then they or you are most likely so far removed it is of no consequence to them. Its possible they may have found your parents and or Grandparents through another connection I had one just the other day saying 'can i see your tree' ..nothing else? So i just replied with a....Why. I also only give a section of my tree to people, but it depends on how far removed they are to my direct line. My reason for doing this is, because if you open your tree to some one who is only connected by a very small twig, and have no connection blood wise. Eg: My 6 x Grandmas, sisters, husbands brothers 6 x Great grandchild....there is no Blood link The only connection is my Grandmas sisters hubbie and their children.( Cousins removed ) My Grandmas sisters hubbies brother, has no genetic link.......so not much use to my tree. When you open your tree to this person, and someone contacts them ( because they have your 6x Great Grandparents in there tree )...they cant even remember who they got it off, and you can miss out on a possible contact and blood connection. Hope that makes sense......LOL Anyway....thats the way i do my tree, but you may differ....?? Each to there own, i guess. My tree is blood related only,no matter how thinned, and a cousin 8 times removed or whatever must share a 9XG or at least common Grandparents with me, for me to be interested. Lunch over ...back to work. Hope everyone is having a good day Tony Oz.....:>)) |

Well folks it is a wonderful day . . . . After a few days of being 'mentally deficient' myself, I have just returned from the specialist - been prodded and poked and pricked and photographed (none of it the enjoyable kind) - had the poor old man perplexed till he diagnosed not melanoma - but a cyst that has grown on old scar tissue of an old injection site !!! I was so relieved I really did nearly pmsl !!! Now I can get back to important things like getting up to Qld . . . Have just booked myself on a flight on Thursday, unfortunately no seats on Rays flight so I will arrive early and have a day up on him when he arrives later that night! Just rang son, told him I will organise a hire car and he is going to trust me with his baby - I can hoon around in the Turbo Nissan thingy (poor car wont know what hit it after Glean-a-lead-foot) Already got the list of do's and dont's . . . no low gutters, or steep driveways! dont scrape the mags when you park! . . . . etc etc etc Thinking about it - might be easier to get a hire car for the weekend! Need coffee . . . so catch you all later luv Laurie PS . . had email from Honey Anne, and she asked me to let you all know she is alright, just taking a break, but she will be back - feeling a bit down, and appreciates all the kind messages. |

Laurie - great news. Jill, no relation to your friends. We don't have an 'e' in our name, well not any more anyway. Having lots of confusion trying to check census records. Some are careless and some are carless. Same with the IGI and free bdm. Just got back from my genie meet and am enthused again. Bit of encouragement goes a long way. Be back later Pam |

Arvo all, home again and the fire had gone out so that was first priority. Jood, now you have your tree up you will probably get Hot Matches. If you find a match you are interested in and click 'contact them' (or whatever the wording is) then down the bottom of the form was a permission to view your tree. It used to be automatically ticked and you have to untick it. Check and see. It is so long since I had a match that I can't remember exactly but I know that originally I gave permission without knowing it! You can always double check in your contacts list as Dr Lew said. I go through mine every so often and check them! Actually I haven't done any family history for AGES!!! gray, cloudy and bleak here this arvo. ~~~~~~~~~ Vonny |

sorry Pam didn't see the 'e' , I've had trouble with rellies changing the spelling of their names on me but it wasn't always their fault usually it was all down to the enumerator, makes it interesting hunting down the rellie via the census returns, one rellie went from a Boyd to a Bold all by a stroke of the pen. so the answer to that is stop stroking pens it make them bold, lol Jillx |
