Good morning everyone Thanks for the birthday wishes. We are in the middle of eisteddfod season here in Toowoomba and daughter's choir competed last night, and again this afternoon and tonight. So that's where I will be for my birthday.I don't mind though - I love listening to the choirs. Last night, they competed in the Modern Chorus Section and sang 'Wind beneath my Wings'. They sounded just beautiful and were awarded second place. Beaten by an all boys choir who had fabulous choreography but I honestly don't think their vocal standard was as good as our girls. This afternoon, she is competing in her small choir (Chamber Choir - only about 20 voices) and tonight it's the full choir again in the Hymn and Spiritual section. So I will just sit back and enjoy. She is in Year 11 and has been asked to play a flute solo in the Year 12 Extension music concert this Thursday evening so that is quite an honour. Next Monday she sits her Grade Five Australian Music Board Examination so it's all go, go, go. She gets nervous when she is performing solo - I do feel for her. Yesterday, we had a neighbourhood BBQ for lunch. Beautiful sunny day so was just perfect. We live in a small cul de sac and all the neighbours are lovely and we all get on well and like to all get together socially a few times throughout the year. Also, Chris's sister, husband and family visited from Ipswich yesterday afternoon and brought me a birthday cake so I've blown out the candles and made my wish. Not telling or it won't come true! Joodles - hope you are on the mend. This is a nasty bug which is going around. You take care. My hubby has been really sick with it - 2 lots of antibiotics, 2 visits to the doctor and he also developed conjunctivitis. He is an asthmatic so his asthma plays up which makes it even worse. He had to cancel some days work he had last week but has gone to work this morning so hope he is OK. Fortunately, the cold I had was just a cold and didn't last long. Didn't get to watch the miners last night as I was out but hubby taped it so will watch it sometime soon. Heard a bit of talk back radio lthis morning and some people are very critical of them trying to screw the media for the best deal etc. I say good on them - they certainly won't be returning to their jobs and from what I hear, they will be making sure that Larry's family wants for nothing. If I were in the same position, I would certainly appoint a media agent as otherwise you would have to try to deal with all the media yourself and I wouldn't know how to handle it all. Probably won't be back on much today as have a heavy schedule Luv to all Anna PS Trifley hasn't offered me Nefer for the day - just as well. He'd be worn out trying to catch up with me!! |

Hi everyone, may I also wish Anna a happy birthday and thank you, Anna, for the photos, haven't been able to view them as yet so I am going to ask a friend of mine to give me some puter lessons, not doing too bad a year ago I could'nt turn the darn thing on.lol. Went to Redcliffe for a picnic lunch yesterday and discovered they were holding a kite' fese,' their word, the kites were fantastic never seen anything like it. Redcliffe in case you don't know is north of Brisbane and on the coast, on the way home OH felt the need to go to BUNNINGS, of course he did not my most favourite of places give me antique shops anyday. Do you want me to get you the taxi numbers for Brissie? for those of you who are visiting in June. If there is anything I can help you with just let me know. Jill |

Good afternoon Wattlers And a Hap, Hap, happy birthday to Anna. I wont sing.....how's that for a pressie? heee heee Hi Jill.........it's a pity you and our wonderful Rebs didn't get together..........she lives at Redcliff in Brissie. I didn't read back far enough.....are you coming to the meet in Brisvegas? SuzyQ......you go get 'em girl. Don't let those bullies of neighbours think they are above the law. If you don't get any joy from the mayor, local member or ombudsman then threaten to go to the media. That'll move the pollies.....they hate bad publicity. Hi Joodles........healing thoughts on their way to you. I hope the chest x-ray reveals nothing nasty. Get plenty of rest. Thanks for the NAA site address. I found uncle Frank, my grandfather, Graeme's father AND Graeme! Haven't located dad or my brother yet, but I'll keep digging. I think I might have mentioned yesterday that we were going to Bunnings. We had to get some aquatic plant potting mix, for the papyrus and a few other odds and sodds. We also needed a transformer for the lights going in the bath......(.this is getting bigger than Quo Vadis) Anyway..........after paying for everything I looked at the trolley and couldn't see how we had spent so much money. After a quick scan of the docket I found the cashier had charged us for 2 transformers! We went back to the desk and got it fixed but it just goes to show........you should always check the docket before you leave a shop! Thank you very much...........we saved $60. I got the washing done this morning so now I get to concentrate on Graeme's spread sheet........oh joy! Think I might need a neck massage later. Have a fun day peeps and I'll catch you all later. ~~~~~waves from me on the Barge. Trifley X |

Well done Jude, way to go re neighbours. :) Devily, neighbours next door have 3 dogs that bark incessantly day and night - especially when neighbours are away. We don't feel comfortable complaining because we also have a dog, and it's possible that she joins in when we are away during the day! BUT she is as quiet as a mouse at night. Anyway, first line of defence was a Water Blaster. Everytime they began barking, one of the boys would take the water gun and squirt them. That was excellent for the day but obviously not practical at night. (I have to add that hubby is absolutey manic if he is woken at night) So, he installed a switch beside our bed and attached some contraption to our hose that was strategically aimed at dog height and every time he was woken he pressed the switch and they got wet. Didn't take them too long to learn that they shouldn't bark around our side of the house. (Our bedroom is next to their driveway) Mind you, I don't know what the neighbours on the other side do!!!!!!! Sometimes we can hear them yelling :0 I guess Laurie will be home soon. Such dedication to duty, writing to us from the airport AND toasting Anna's birthday LOL ~~~~~~~~~~ to all, special (((((hug))))) to Jood. Vonny PS Shazz, I will try to come up this time if you have a meet :) Vonny |

Hi Wattlers, Feeling much better now. Have written to Mayor and Local Councilor. Also to CASA. The local police sgt has just been. He was very nice and has made me feel much better. The trouble seems to be that there are no rules and regs regarding the noise of model airplanes. He is going to read up about it and then see what he cando. We explained, that when they put silencers on these models we don't have a problem with it. Will keep you up to date. This is the first time we have ever had any problems with neighbours. Maybe it's because we are retired and prefer a quiet life. I hope you have a wonderful day Anna, it seems it is all organised. You must be very proud of your daughter. Tony, thanks for the info on Thaxted etc. I am going to google today. I do hope every ones coughs and colds are getting better. My arm has been very sore and swollen from the flu jab, but it will be worth it if I don't get any germs. I heard this morning that Eddie is critising Kochie, thanks to Mel, Kochie didn't play into his hands. It's a good thing that women think a bit more before opening their mouths. That's why women should rule the world. What do you think girls? Bunnings is not my favourite shop, I like Spotlight. Lets take a vote on it. What is everyones favourite shop not associated with jewels or apparel. Or food. Well I am going googling, see you all later Luv SuzyQ |

Vonny .. how ingenious of your husband to think up that contraption to quieten the dogs .. but even so, how terrible that you have to do something about it because their owners wont! Thanks for hugs, too and healing thoughts from Trifley, much appreciated. Sue, so glad the policeman came out to see you, let's all hope that something will come of it. Shaz, sorry, I thought you meant Faye wanted us to go up their pronto, .. as you say, better to wait till we are both better. I gotta ask you Vonny .. what did Eddie say about Kochie .. I must have missed that ??? ... He (Eddie) will get his come uppance one of these days. Trifley, I am so glad you got some information about your grandad's and others' army career, sometimes you get information you've been looking for as well. .. Even if its just how tall they are, any scars or tattoos. ..(That might be on the full list which you'd probably have to buy) .. I must check that list again, I used it, or a similar one a long time ago, and got my Dad's war record and some of Mum's uncles who were prisoner's of war. .. I am lucky to have the telegram sent to Mum to say that they had been found (after being 'lost in action') Jood |

Hello everyone, Hippy Birdy to Anna, sounds like you had a nice weekend at the Eistedfodd. DD14 sings in school choirs too and our Eistedfodd in Albury is in August. She had to find a volunteer activity to do for Duke of Edinborough Scheme (bronze) this year and I suggested she volunteer to help put on the Eistedfodd, so I guess I'll be hanging around it a bit myself from next month. They never have enough help, all the same people do it each time and get all strung out. But it's such a great thing for young people to have somewhere to perform if they are learning an instrument or dancing, singing or whatever. I took DD14 to Yr 11 school play Saturday night, they did Loius Nowra's 'Cosi' it was fantastic I enjoyed every minute, such great characters come out on the stage. I sorted out my fright with Ancestry last week - what a nong, I'd never searched using ranked search, always exact search, so all these different things came up and I got all overexcited...... But got more info still, hopefully plenty more to go. Those ugly monsters from the Eurovision contest had to have a gimmic because they don't have any musical talent according to hubby !! Bet they don't last long. Love the waterblaster idea for loud dogs Vonny, might suggest it to hubby, trouble is annoying dog is over the road, and during the day it barks when anyone walks down past our house, usually when OH is home trying to sleep. It must have been full moon last week because it was barking at night, and being answered by the other noisy dog nearby, owned by local policeman!! Very cold here today, blue sky, no rain, so glad someone got some last week. I reckon it's scary about selling the Snowy Hydro Scheme (I also saw Countrywide) I think essential services like water/electricity/sewage should remain under the control of the government. Ok back to work for me, I have changed staff rosters a little bit so will be an interesting week to see if we can cover all the jobs that need doing or if I've overlooked something and have to make up the shortfall somehow. See you later, Hz in Albury PS. SuzyQ, I'm with you on Spotlight over Bunnings !! lol |

Good Afternoon Wattlers, Happy Birthday to Anna. Joodles hope your feeling better, also Shazz and anyone else feeling lousy today. That cough is awful, I still have it after about 3 weeks I think it is now. SusyQ hope you get your problem neighbours sorted out, it can make life such a misery. Watched the miners last night, talk back radio said it was a lousy interveiw, on the stations part also they made comments about channel 7 ( not the done thing) the fellows deserve every pennie they get. Welcome to Lyn, a bit late I know, you say your South of Sydney, how far South??? It has gone quite cold and windy in the Gong this afternoon, hoping for a drop of rain. Had to take the car for it's 3year service $200 bucks later, I think it's such a rip off for what they do but have no choice as it's part of warranty. Well thats about it for now , hugs to our sickies. Sandra in the Gong |

Hi Joodles, On Sunrise this morning Kochie said that Eddie called him an ambulance chaser. Didn't hear the full story. Probably because he got in the ambulance when the miners were freed. I understood that the miner had asked that Mel and Kochie be at the gate when they came out. Don't know what Eddies problem is, they got the story in the end. I didn't watch the program last night, whilst I feel for the miners, I don't have much faith in the media telling the story exactly how it is. They do like to dramatise things a bit. |

Thanks for that Suzy. .. Well I heard Kochie say after that incident, as you said, that Todd had asked him to be there when they got out, and called out to him .. (I got a shock too, when Kochie got in the ambulance, but he did explain why). I dont know how those guys will fare in Yankeeland. .. They certainly wont like the style of interviewing over there, and we all know how the yanks like to over dramatise things! .. They will be out of their depth. Poor old Jude, doing a workout! (no no! not me guys, I think its travelling Jude) .. ooh, better check. .. Yep, travelling Jude. Up down Up down, come on Jude, sweat a bit!!!!!!!! Jood |

Are the miners going to yankee land? I didn't know that. I hope they get their medical issues sorted out first. If i were them i think I would like a nice long relaxing holiday away from it all. The Euro song contest winners sounded dreadful to me. Do you remember when they had the World Pop idol and the guy from Finland won. Wonder what Finland has got that everyone wants. |

Afternoon Wattlers Not much news to tell, went out to tea to a work collegues house on saturday night. Great fun, lots of laughing and hilarity. Then grandsons first B'day BBQ on Sunday, so have had a lovely weekend. I work a lot of weekends, so nice to have a whole one off. And getting to meet up with all our children in the one place was a big bonus. Gets harder to do as they all move further way from home. Have done a bit of H*******K to day, much as it feels like a waste of a day off. Too dry to continue to plant crop......better practice those rain dance moves again lol. I had some computer stuff to do for work.......but can't make the info fit on when i print it out grrrrrr. I check the print preview and it all looks fine, then when i print it, it leaves off the last column. I have given up for now, before i have a total tantrum, reminds me why i am not an office worker. Might look in later. Take Care....... Blingless Wilson |
