Hi all, just back from the construction site. The tilers have been, the lap pool is in and it looks like we'll be moving in end of March. Hooray! No that I mind living in town, but as we were on 1300 acres 30kms from town, it's been a bit difficult. The new place is on 25 acres just 7kms from town. Best go an see what's been happening in the corner!!! Lew Lew

Good morning Wattlers, I am feeling a bit better this morning and I would like to thank you all for your kind words. You have been really helpful. I won't bore you all with the details, but I have decided that I am not going to let him hurt me any more. Lew Lew, how will you manage for 31/2 weeks with out your hubby LOL. It wil be like a holiday. Just imagine not having to think about what to make to eat. Bliss. I hope you all have luck with the washing machines, and shame on you Tony wanting us to go back to wash boards. Do you have poor Barb chained to the kitchen sink as well LOL. I always had a front loader in England and loved it. When mine gives up the ghost I will get a front loader mainly because they use less water. Rebs, I can just imagine your frustration with the sewing machine. I think you son will have got the message, loud and clear. Michael, I wouldn't buy new things to bring on holiday, wait till you get here and buy them. I found that English summer weight clothes are like Aussie winter ones. Did anyone watch the Winter Olympcs opening ceremony this morning? I missed the begining, but enjoyed what I did see. Thought that the flame lighting was really good. Lets hope we get a few medals. Morning all We had rain here last night - not much but enough to make the world a much more appealing place to live in - it's cool and foggy and damp this morning - a far cry from the searing heat we've had lately. Had tiddler (grandson) staying last night and I promised him we'd go for a walk this morning with the umbrellas so he was up at the crack of dawn waiting with umbrella in hand. Fortunately it wasn't teeming down - just a bit misty and we went in search of wallabies - can you believe it - a mother wallaby and her joey turned up right on cue! And a scrub turkey which he loves - not like me who hates the ruddy things as they scratch up all the bark in the garden. So there I was like Mary Poppins wafting through the bush with me brolly! You forget how vivid kids imaginations are and how they can't separate fantasy from reality. He was telling me with such a solemn litle face how Puff the dragon lives in a cave in a land called Halleluja! 'I'm going to find him one day Nanny', he tells me. Tiddler had Poppy cracking up last night when he was watching the cricket. Tiddler kept talking about the vampire - Poppy eventually realised that he meant the umpire!!!! Pity the vampite didn't stir the aussies along a bit - so many run outs - hope they get their act together for the next match. Before I forget - my washing machine is a Fisher Paykell (?spelling - I can't be bovered to walk down the hall and have a look!) and the reason we bought it was because my sister in law has had one for a year and she raves about it. It's an 'Intuitive' model and I do like it - you can set it on automatic and it selects just enough water for the amount of clothes you put in, so is a water saver. Or you can select a huge range of options - water level, spin speed, fabric care, presoaks, rinses and so on at the press of a button. There's even a cycle for sneakers!! Haven't tried it yet. And it gets the clothes clean - I put it on creasables spin cycle and the clothes are much easier to iron. So I am happy with it. The little conversations it has with me are just an added extra! Rebs - I have the greatest respect for anyone who can use a sewing machine. I am absolutely humbled by anyone who can pull the stinking things apart and put them back together again! From now on - you can be as naughty as you like and drink yourself under the table and burn cats - even rip out testicles - and I'll always be in awe of you. Well done girl (have to admit that I'd hate to be your son at the moment though!] Crewella de Ville - love the sound of your new abode - maybe we could have the Wattlers meet up there sometime in the future - we could all camp out the back! Bags me first go in the lap pool! And as you're out of town, we could make an almighty din and not have any complaints from the neighbours! Best start stocking up on Baileys now! Hi SuzieQ & Anna - could you just image the noise if all the wattlers were camped out in Mudgee? They'd hear us in Sydney!! Not a bad idea though. Don't worry about the hubby being away for 3 weeks. I know had to damage those credit cards! Rebs, I wouldn't know one end of a sewing machine from another. I'd rather play on the computer and pay someone else to sew! Hi Wattlers It makes my day reading all your notes. A fun, happy and caring lot of people. Well of course we are Aussies so that explains a lot! Joodle Belle in the beautiful Blue mountains. We lived there between 1980 & 1990. We moved to Mt Victoria in Nov 1986 and woke up the next morning to 4ins of snow! Wonderful place. I probably wouldn't recognise the area now, I believe it has changed dramatically. Lew Lew Mudgee, now isn't that a wine district? Don't drink much myself {ha ha} but hubby does like an occaisional tipple. I shooed away the 'naughty corner' cat before it could eat Alan, Denny & Shirley. It wandered off in a huff....probably back to the 'corner'. Washing machines....thanks for all your info folks. When mine dies it will undoubtedly be in the middle of a load so I will want to get one quick. The one with auto h2o level sounds good. Washing is more proof that God is a man...if God were a woman she would have designed things better {think...PMS, menopause, giving birth, cellulite, men!} Any of you lot like Billy Connelly? We went to see him @ the Gold Coast Convention centre on Wednesday. Sell out crowd of about 4,500. I have NEVER before laughed so hard, long or deep. There were tears running down my face. Almost 3 hrs for the show. He is an amazing man. After one of the jokes he told I will never be able to look at another olive! It certainly does you good to have a laugh...I am still feeling great. Eddie Maguire as CEO of channel 9???? I had to look at the calendar as I thought it might be an April fools day joke. Looks like Ch 9 is poaching other peoples stars. First Moonface now Eddie. Gidday WT - I know Mt Victoria well - only by the number of accidents :-( Tho the town up the top is quite pretty. Re Nine poaching. Dont you think Moonface is past his use by date? Or maybe he's ok as long as he doesnt cart his wife and daughter on to every show he's in???? As far as Eddy goes, I dont know much about him - he seems personable enough - but could he really look after a whole Channel ??? I could go on bitching about some of the other stars - am I the only one whose noticed a botox job on Tracey Grimshaw - bottom lip has a distinct pout. Liz Hayes doesnt even look like the Liz Hayes of the past, not even when she actually WAS younger! Errrr I better stop now. Hi All what a beautiful day. I've done 3 loads of washing and the groceries and now I'm going out in the sun. I'm off to the nursery to get some plants with flowers to stick in all the sad looking pots around the yard. Girlfriend from Scotland arrives this week and want to make it look like I dont kill everything. She's a hard act to follow her garden is open to the public for fundraisers. Maybe I can blame my garden on the hot weather and the drought...lol Have a good weekend everyone Jude2

Hey that storm we had the other day was a mini tornado. The SES are still cleaning up. 200 year old trees just ripped from the ground. Hope we don't get another one of them any time soon. Lew Lew

Shame about the old trees Lew, doesnt matter howmany new ones they plant its just not the same (not that I'm a tree hugger, just like old trees) We had a collie for years but we never gave him a hair cut, your poor pooch will get a complex lol

Touch wood girls, I havent smelt any smoke around the mountains this year - I have in the past though. I live two doors up from the local fire brigade, and in the past, when the fires were really bad, the fire trucks (some from other states) were all lined up in my street (presumably to change shifts, or eat, r & r etc) One year my daughter was packed up ready to flee, pet cages for the chooks, hoses and buckets at the ready - she's further up the mtn than me and lives on a ridge - I am basically in the main street of my town. I'm used to hearing sirens, as the police are just under the subway, ambulance a few doors up from them. Trouble is I never know which siren is going !!! On my way home from Bendigo I arrived at Lithgow only to be told to go via Bells Line, as there was an accident at Hartley I followed the traffic till I realised I was all by myself hahaha - must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. I saw a sign Gt Western Hiway and without thinking, turned in that direction. Then I thought hey - Im not supposed to be on that road - oh well, what the heck, if I can get on I will - they cant surely block off every entry. Sooooo I chugged along - hardly any traffic on the road - this is great!!!!! Get to Hartley - whooooo - Im stopped - but its roadworks, and we are escorted by a vehicle on the wrong side of the road for a distance, and then Im free again. Singing away, I drive along - and whooooooooooooaaaaaaaaa - the accident!!!! Fortunately it happened just over the corner of a street, and we were directed onto a small road (Little Hartley Way I think it was) - which just curved merrily around and back past the accident. Wasnt I lucky I got lost??? - I saved myself quite a bit of petrol and time!!! I read about the said accident in the local rag. Nasty too. Your pooooor pooch Lew lew lol We had a Camphor Laurel tree over 100 yrs old chopped down in the middle of our townhouses. It was done the day I arrived home from Bendigo - I just got my car in the garage as the truck followed me in. Sad to see it go, but it was pretty dead. When we had storms, (and the mountains have plenty) I used to sleep in the back bedroom as the tree was right facing my main bedroom and I just didnt feel comfortable. You proved my point Lew lew - those old trees, no matter how big their girth - can be uprooted easily in a severe storm. High up in almost a fork, was a little elkhorn, which I asked the guys if I could have. Now I have my own souvenir of the tree, a piece of Camphor Laurel tree with an elkhorn attached!!! The smell of the tree being chopped down as it got smaller and smaller was absolutely divine - the hotter the day the nicer the smell of the mulch that remained. Joodles
