Diana, that's something to think about.. but as I said if it happens, it happens and if people weren't prepared for the consequences then they shouldn't have done it in the first place I say.

Also, marriage of the parents any time after the birth makes the child legitimate :-)

I'm with you on that one Jill - i applaud her values especially in todays society!! Just this sort of topic causes upset and those that are illegitimate may read it and feel judged. Pink who was born 6 years after her parents wed but I'm sure I'll find some illegitimate children in my line someday!! xx

Marriage is a fairly recent institution, especially for the proletariat len

I have seen some very BAD parents that are married and their children are wretched because of it...... I'd rather a child had 1 loving parent whether biological or not than 2 messed up parents cos they were forced to be wed!

Lunar, I have three or four successive generations of shot-gun weddings in my family.

lol Diana, *blushes* In a normal situation I wouldn't be expressing my views this way lol I'd be all humble and meek.

Third option is shot gun weddings! I have loads in my tree, also have an illigit cousin and her daughter is illigit, I love them both enen if I don't approve with the circumstance in which they were born

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 16 Feb 2006 00:01

Jill - PMSL but she can't have it both ways ya know!! either children get born out of wedlock or the abortion rate goes up!!

There is medical evidence that,STD apart, teenage sex may cause cervical cancer. len

here here Diana!!!! would any of us have been here if all births were within marriages??? I dont think so!!! *evil laugh*

Luciacw

Luciacw Report 16 Feb 2006 00:01

Diana, I didn't think of it that way. I'm not saying I would treat someone with contempt if they were illegitimate or had had an illegitimate child. I just don't think it's right. That's just my view. Unless in exceptional circumstances like rape. But if it happens it happens - we should just try and avoid it. I don't believe in abortion. And I'm slaughtering them! You have to be sympathetic

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 16 Feb 2006 00:00

So what you are saying is if it hadn't been for a child born out of wedlock you wouldn't be here? Shouldn't you be thanking them rather than slaughtering them?
