Maz, it's time you nudged your poetry thread. I'm officially ignoring everyone now as I have lessons to prepare and a speech to write. Gwynne

Maz I feel exactly the same about the Welcome Inn and I've never been 'in' there either! I pop in and out of GR all day cos I am at work and strangely enough I have to do some work sometimes lol so if I disappear for a while that's usually the reason! *waves to the lovely friendly Sally* Julie xxx

Oh Not you aswell maz!! I cant believe that you feel that way about the welcome Inn thread... honestly, please believe me that ALL absolutely ALL are welcome in the welcome INN.... nobody excluded.... we love it when we see new names, Its great, the more the merrier in there, and there is definatley no club, or exlusive membership to that thread.... in fact all of us that post on there hate the idea of exclusine groups. If anyone is ever in doubt about where to post on here.... there is ALWAYS a welcoming door open for you at the welcome INN.... I know that others who are regular posters on the Inn thread would be horified if they thought other people were put off from joining in.... And i have told that Gwynne all this before!!!! lol

Yes, Dee, I do. I don't pretend to know everyone on the Board or what they talk about between themselves. Obviously, people with similar interests will make friends, and people who have similar research interests will have 'conversations' behind the scenes that spill over onto the Boards, so that what's posted doesn't make much sense to me or everyone else. I don't see that as a problem. If I have something to say, I'll say it. If it gets a response, fine. If it doesn't, then I don't worry. Maybe I didn't 'get' the gist of the thread. As has been proven time and again on this Board, we all see things from different angles and have differing opinions on all sorts of subjects, so what to one is an innocent remark could be seen as a 'red rag to a bull' by someone else who has a problem with a certain issue. I get a bit annoyed when people take things I post out of context, but if they're not party to the interaction between me and someone else, they won't understand what I mean, but then again - why should they? I don't 'get' the meaning behind a lot of the conversations that go on on this Board, but there's no reason why I should. I say what I mean, but if others don't understand it or take it the wrong way, there's not much I can do about that. I've found that posting threads about my own interests doesn't attract much interest from other people, but it's not a problem. It works both ways - I don't have much interest in many of the things that others post about. I put it all down to 'horses for courses' and don't worry about it. CB >|< :>)

ok ok I will try it then !!! Don't be offended though - I think its just because its been going so long and I've never been in. Gwynne - I am going to the library today, so will see what I can find. Something a bit light-hearted I hope! Maz. XX

Without wishing to upset anyone, I think you are all being a little paranoid. I have been posting on the gen board since April last. I put comments & answers to questions on any thread that interests me. Sometimes I get a response & sometimes I don't. When I don't, I just assume that what I have said, is either too similar to what others have said or just of no interest. As far as the Welcome Inn is concerned I popped in once & was made to feel welcome but I didn't really have anything to contribute to the conversation so I haven't gone in again, but that was down to me, not the regulars. The same thing happens in a real pub, you have to make an effort to join in. Reading through this thread I have come to the conclusion that if you have an invisible cub, just about every active member of GR will be in it. lol Vivienne

Shady Lady Report 13 Mar 2006 10:13

Morning everyone,I get ignored regularly but I just keep trying, there are some people who I know will answer me and some that wont.I dont know why some wont,it must be a personality thing, unless they have misunderstood something I have 'said' on a thread.I find it difficult to put my thoughts into words sometimes so it would be easy to come across different to how its meant(if you see what I mean?)
