I think its a fantastic idea in principle!! However can I just add my tuppenceworth!!??? When everyone comments of somewhere being the centre of the Country I am assuming you are meaning the country of England??? Where exactly is the centre of the UK?? cos bear in mind that you are including Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales as well as the rest of the world?? So if going for a central point you'd have to be fair to everyone and make it the centre of the UK. Other than that, probably the easiest place that virtually anyone and everyone can get to in the country would be London. I know that would involve much more cost for some than others tho..... |

CB, I am not interested where it is held as I have commitments also where possibly the dates they choose won't be right for me also. Sue |

travelodge room roughly £51.00 per night weekend rate for up to 4 peeps (Not everyone will want to share, but thats the price quoted for one person) so for some about £100 for 2 nights (night before and on the day.) Thats without travelling expenses, food and drink. Think Ill pass |

Sue, It doesn't really matter much to me where any of the GR events are held, as 9 out of 10 times dates are picked that I can't manage due to other commitments, and there's no way I'll ever get involved in organising anything else, after my experience with the GB Relay. If you want it in Derby, go right ahead. CB >|< |

I think it will end up being an ordinary giant meet, with the majority of people coming who only live a few hours away. Its sad it will only be really accesable to those who live in the middle of the country, and surrounding areas. Or the few people further away, with no ties, and plenty of dosh to finance an overnight trip. Elaine x |

CB, Yes I know it is doubtful this Meet for Gaynor Bear at the NEC will come off as she hasn't finished her travels round the Country. But as I said DERBY is the middle of the Country NOT Birminham. *You know you can't please people all of the time just some of the time.* It will cost people a lot of money to travel/Hotels. Sue ps ITV only bo Friends NOT GR |

Again I will put my name down to come along, even if I have to find digs overnight, but as so many have said, it has been suggested before, hopefully it will finally come about this time. Bev |

Sue, The Gaynor Bear celebration was supposed to happen this April, on the anniversary of the start of the Relay, but Jenny thought the Relay would have finished by then, and as it's still going on and no-one knows when it will finish, there was no hope of arranging the party for April. That was why the idea came to nothing. I expect there will be a gathering to celebrate the end of the Relay, but it's not possible to tell yet when that will be. CB >|< :>) |
