Hi Honey Rum, as I am on the possibles list, so you won't be kept guessing, I'll opt out of Bus Tour and boat trip, Are you booking tables at the Boat House? |

Chris...(Alter Ego) When I get in touch with each person that is coming to the meet and I do that privately... other than taxi's from the station, there is a bus that is free with your train ticket which drops off by Love St... from there it is a couple of hundred yards walk down to the Park Entrance.a leisurely walk through the park brings you down to the River and the Boat House cannot be missed.... everyone will be given directions or met on the day of the meet... the walk from the station may be ok for the very fit, about a mile, but for others it may prove too much. Thankyou for the suggestion though. Anne:) |

Anne, It might be worth telling people that arent familiar with Chester that you can go the roundabout at the end of city road by the station and cross over to St Werburghs church- just there there is a large gateway to Grosvenor Park- simply walk through towards he river and the Boat House is there at the bottom of the steps-very quick direct way to get there. |

Hi June... you and me both chuck..lol.. Had a really hard weekend this week searching for a venue... we had to go in lots of pubs to get the right place to meet...!!! We decided on the Boat House because it is light and airey and by the Riverside, has an outside area with lots of room if it is nice weather, good food and comfortable well run pub. Big screen TV if people want to catch up on the days sport and background music that doesn't blast the eardrums..... A few yards away there is the Tour Bus stop and the River Cruise and an ice-cream shop where the ice-cream is to die for!! A couple of cafes that do lovely cream teas and snacks, or a full meal if you do not want to eat in the pub we meet in. Vegetarians are well catered for in all of these, and I can recommend some other cafes in the Town area if any one wishes to go there. The Park will have some wonderful flower displays as they always do, and easy access to the Walls for that walk around the Town. The Heritage Centre is just outside the Park across the road where they do have a cafe as well and gift shop. The Cathedral is a must if one hasn't visited it before... there is a cafe in there but quite expensive. Not recommended if on a budget. If anyone wants to ask me anything else please mail me and will help if I can. Anne:))) |

I'm now very jealous! Chester is lovely - we spent a day there nearly 10yrs ago and promised ourselves we'd be back for longer. Needless to say, it's never happened. Hope you all have a great day - and do the river trip as well esp. if it's a nice day. |
