Just got home tonight from a thoroughly wet but enjoyable weekend in Norfolk. Would like to say thanks to Frances for arranging the meet and making me feel so welcome, having never met any of you before it felt really strange walking into there. Now as I go through the posts I will be able to put some faces to some of the names. So sorry to miss James and Diane, I really don't know how we missed them because we didn't move from the bar into the rowdy corner until our meal came which was just after 2pm. You weren't by any chance the guy that collapsed in the bar were you James?? Looking forward to seeing the piccies. Kat |

What a shame you couldn't find us James, was looking forward to meeting you, and a shame for Diane too. Sorry the others couldn't make it. I didn't arrive till way after 3pm but spent a while trying to learn who was who - it was lovely to meet people so I have faces to go with names now. Frances and I stayed on and had another drink and a chat then I gave her a lift home. Next time we will have to have a big sign up somewhere! Liz |

Hi all, Just wanted to say a BIG THANKYOU to everyone for coming, it was a great afternoon and so nice to be able to put faces to names we know so well on here. James, I have just received an email fronm Diane - I can`t believe that you were both there and yet didn`t get to see us. I was in reception from 12.45 and went to the Quarterdeck Bar at 1pm. I sat on my own at the bar until Benjamin and Phoenix arrived and then we chatted until others came in. The staff knew we were expecting a large group of people, and we didn`t go round the corner until gone 2pm, how did you miss us??? Hopefully you will make it for the September meet. Thanks again everyone. Frances |

I had a lovely time - Viv was a super travelling companion - thanks for the coffee - and I found lots of info in the hour I spent at the Records Office - also popped into the Millennium Library to look at microfiche of stained and damaged parish registers before joining all the others for drinks and food. And I managed to be under cover every time it rained! I enjoyed my talking competition with Daisy - I think it was a draw. Sorry James that you missed us, though goodness knows we were lively enough!!! nell |

Thank you, everyone, for making today such an enjoyable occasion. It was great to meet old friends and match a few more faces to names. Hope the rest of you had as good a journey home as I did (just this minute through the door) and enjoyed it as much as I did. |

It was a great afternoon and lovely to see so many people, faces old and new. So sorry you couldn't find us James - have no idea why they couldn't point you in the right direction as we were noisy enough. Hope to see you next time. Daisy |

Already put this in another thread, but here's why I wasn't there.... had to miss the meet today, my arthritis is playing up something awful. (overdid it yesterday shopping I think) Have had to keep moving around the flat today, dare not sit still too long or I might never get up again lol. Hope you all had fun and looking forward to seeing the pics. Hopefully will get to the September one |

Well I've packed my bags for my flight to NELSON in the morning. My husband took our 9yr old daughter over to see the Earthrace launch ( an eco - launch run on biodiesel, so she informs me!) at Lyttelton this morning...and it was moored at....NORWICH quay!!! Yep, spooky alright, Frances! Some things are just meant to be in tune, I suppose. We also went and bought our luggage for the big trip today, so September Meet, here we come (albeit slowly). Have a great time all, Hope you all find a few more elusive ancestors too. Sue. |
