Hello Everyone, I am back from my hols. The good news is I spent a whole week chilling in the sunshine of the Algarvan Hills with no nicotine. I was suprised that it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I don't really drink so unlike many others I don't associate a drink with a ciggie. Its the after meal one I miss the most. I arrived back on Monday afternoon to discover that the **** has hit the fan with my business & unless a miracle happens in the next few weeks I will lose my livelihood which means I will lose my house etc etc. At this moment I so badly want a cigarette but am fighting against the urge at the moment. Its really strange because this happened once before when I gave up , a huge crisis & I then started again after 5 months. I will try & remain strong , wish me luck! Ang x

Hi Joanne, I attempted to quit on April 1st last year.. Promised my son I would quit on his birthday of March 10th this year, actually quit at 10pm April 1st this year.. What I am trying to say I suppose is - dont give up hope, you will do it, and when you do it next time you will be more prepared, you have to really want to do it also which is why I have found quitting this time a bit of a walk in the park to be honest, though as James says, I never let my guard down. Get yourself into the right frame of mind and you will do it. Good Luck to you and hubby, will look out for you when you re-join us again. James, Carol and everyone else - Hi, how are you guys? 2 and a half months this week for me, OR 11 weeks on Saturday, my health(though I didnt think there was anything wrong with it in the first place) is great, walking between 3 and 4 miles everyday and loving it, hubby cant believe it. Hope your all well, also found out we will be moving back around the end of July 2007! Debs xx

Hi Joanne, sorry to hear that, it is a difficult thing to break the Habit and DEMON NICK (otine) is just waiting for your guard to go down, still you have the experience to have another go at quiting and know some of the pitfalls, I used to say before I quit, giving up is easy, I done it a thousand times!!! Giving up is easy, staying given up is the hard part, but I am sure you will achieve your goal. When you start, give yourself a target, like going to Thailand, put the money you would have spent into a building society account and watch it build up at £31 a week it soon accumulates plus the interest and if both of you are going to do it (Quit smoking) then the money pile will grow even quicker. Look forward to having you back on the thread, though I would not be supprised if we do not have another one started, so look out to see if there is a new one. All the best James

Pops head round corner of the door James, Deb's, Carole - sorry I crumbled, I smoked and smoked, could blame the pressure I'm under at the moment, but won't will just say that I didn't have the willpower on Saturday and started smoking again after 5 and a half weeks. Will be setting another quit date around the 1st July, the madness at home will have calmed down by then and I can fully concentrate and OH is joining me then so we can support each other Sorry guys Joanne

Glad to see you are all keeping on the straight and narrow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shirley Ann, I think you are putting yourself down to much, you got through the worst of breaking the ADDICTION to the WEED. So you know what to expect, I do hope you are using filters on your roll ups or strands of tobacco will be going down your throat. You can go to your Doctor's, local library, health centre to see what is available to quit smoking so provide patches free. It only takes one cigarette to start you back on the ADDICTION Trail. Why not try again there are plenty of people on here who will help you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gillie some rough working out for you aprox 18 months = 547.5 days Cigs = 547.5 X 40 = 16425 Cigs Cigs divided by 20 (1645/20) = 821.25 pkts Packets multiply by £4.00 = £3285 What have you spent that little sum on? Debbie Report 12 Jun 2006 16:07

Debbie Report 12 Jun 2006 15:50

Gillie, Hope you dont mind but the only way I could work out how well you have done was to open up a glovebox compartment at stop smoking, dont worry used the details you gave and my email, this will show how much you have saved in all areas.. Well done you My Quit Date: 12/6/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 553 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 17,709 Amount Saved: £1659 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 22 Mins: 13 Seconds: 32 I had to put down how many cigs you smoked a day, you said between 30 & 35 so I put 32, not sure how much you spent a day so again I had to put in an amount and put £3.00. Carol, I know what you mean about being outside and looking for cigs, I know I wouldnt have one but when hubby says shall we sit in the garden I think of cigs, maybe its because thats where I would smoke. I am luckier than you though, as I dont know anybody out here who smokes.. and hopefully the ban on smoking will be in place when I return to the UK next year, not because I would want one but because I dont want to smell of them. When we meet we both will have been quit for well over a year.. Debs x

Good Morning, Well I have passed the 10 week mark and wouldnt even consider having a cig, though I did say to hubby that I still associate cigs with sitting in the yard with a beer, again the same as Caz it is only a memory passing through.. Hi James how are you? must say that you have been my main shoulder of support through this and for that my love I say thank you.. And when I come back to the UK next summer I will buy you a beer or two at one of the meets.. Hi Carol glad to hear your well and still not given into temptation though I know you wont, but I have to take my hat off to you for living with a smoker while quitting. So looking forward to meeting you too.. Caz, isnt it a great feeling when you wake up and dont even think of cigs? Isnt it great when you dont have to wear a patch either? I thought they were great and really helped me but I did say to OH that it could have been a band aid for all I knew.. Well done. Have a great day everyone, its raining here though bet its still going to be really warm... How is Joanne??? Debs xx

I'm here, not been far away. Doing ok - having real stress at the moment through work and trying to exchange contracts on a property that I'm getting for my Dad -keep telling myself if I can get through this I can get through anything without a cig. Only time I really honestly do crave is after a meal and then as long as I start doing something to occupy myself it goes away. here is my glove compartment that I'm really proud of -Thanks Deb for telling me about it Brick wall's Glove Compartment Todays Date: 6/7/2006 My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 890 Amount Saved: £166.25 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 20 Seconds: 28 As you can see I have added 3 days to my life - that's another 3 days craving for a cig that I now have to put up with - lol lol, only joking James!
