Hi Debs, I,ve been on 21 mg for 4 weeks now and start on 14mg tomorrow. I,m using the 'Equate' patches, made my Novartis. It,s what they gave me when I was in the hospital last year and I think they work just as well as the more expensive Nicoderm. (This is my 4th attempt, lol). I,ll be on the 14 mg for 2 weeks and then 7mg for another 2 weeks. My doctor says that once I come off the patches, it won,t hurt to use the 4mg gum for those 'odd' cravings. Hopefully by then, a stick of Wrigleys will work just as well. lol. |

Hi Debs ouside DC I wonder who else gets the added bonus of exotic and unrepeatble dreams, I never had anything like that!!! Should I start smoking again, to see if I get the dreams??? Certainly sounds interesting, especially as she leaves us in suspense as to the details!!! James |

Hi Carol (2711) Have you had a check up by your Doc? Could be caused by exercise if not used too. Do you know Boeing or heard anything about they are bringing in a special flight for smokers crossing the Big Pond, on the rear wing they are constucting an wooden outhouse, for those addicts who need to have a fix, it is believed to be a bit windy and draughty out there, but they say the view is breath taking!! James.....................Ducks down.............in case...........she throws her shoe!!! |

Hi everyone it was lovely last night to get a PM from James. I'm now on day 21 !! I can't believe it. Still using the patches though and will carry on using them for the 10 week 'course'. Debs - my sleep pattern has totally changed since giving up. I have weird dreams and wake up every morning between 3-4 and then cannot get back to sleep properly. Has anyone else had this? Well done to everyone Caz |

Day 22 Hi James - I would love to tell you all about my dreams, but they are just so unrepeatable that they even shock me!! LOL Little Caz - About 3.30 is also when I wake up, so what I do is start to read my book and then I get tired again, not that its that bad everynight. Well done you, by the sounds of it im only 1 day ahead of you. Carol in Rochester - I didnt go to see the doc, too much hassle as I have to go to one of the medical centers on base, so I went to good ole Walmart and bought NicoDerm CQ and they reccomend (surprise surprise) 6 weeks on 21 mg, 2 weeks on 14 mg and 2 weeks on 7 mg. But each box I buy has a $5. voucher in off my next box so for 2 weeks its costing $33.00 before tax. More expensive than the gigs for 2 weeks but will be worth it in the end. Well done everyone and keep up the good work. Debs x |

Hi all, Welcome to Nic, nearly 4 weeks!!! You will be shortly getting your sense of smell back and you will smell how vile a smoker smells and you will think that was me, no holes burnt in clothing, no stains on teeth, furred up tongue. Debs I am sure your just teasing our imagination, still look forward to when you get over your blushes and 'Come Out'!!!!! Carol's you are doing so well James |

Hi, Day 27 for me, and after my tantrum on Tuesday night I am feeling so much better (think it has something to do with wearing the patch! or should I say I feel better now I am wearing the patch, thought I would try a day without!! uh oh not a good idea). Off to join the gym in a couple of hours so that has made me feel a bit better, but whats a few pounds when you have quit the weed? Well done everyone Debs x |

Carol, I want a new bikini for when the swimming pools open at the end of May so thats my goal.. Maybe you and I should have a weigh in each week or should I say tell each other how much we lost, I am sure they will weigh me today, though I dont care how much I weigh its the toning up and losing a few inches here and there that im going by.. Hi Debs in D.C. Just thought I would let you know the 14 mg patches are working fine. I have to fight the nicotine cravings a little more than with the 21mg but hey, who said this would be easy? lol. I,ve also started exercising......the pounds are starting to show ! Will be riding my bike to work starting next week although, this is also to avoid paying $3.50 for gas. lol. |

Hi Carol in NY I have just over 2 weeks left of the 21mg then down to the 14mg, I tried going for a day without on Tuesday and turned into a monster so I wont do that again. Im off to the gym soon but if the gas keeps going up in price then I think I will have to buy a bike. I need to top up today but wait till I get on base as its a bit cheaper and no tax to pay. Hi everyone Day 26 today, still on the 21mg patches but sometimes forget to put it on till lunchtime. Hardly ever thinking about having a cigarette now, except after dinner in the evening. But thats only a fleeting thought. The sleep and dream problems are getting better. I still wake up between 3-4am but go back to sleep really quickly now and the dreams seem to be less 'exciting'. Well done everyone else. Caz |

Popped in to have a sneakly look at you all, Thinking about getting patches on Tuesday ( did set Monday as the day to go and get them, but it's bank holiday) tried tablets in september and I ended up really depressed and lost weight and couldn't sleep, Doctors told me to thrown them away and have a ciggie as I was that bad. Scared to try again incase I end up the same with the patches, but also scared of getting lung cancer! Joanne |
