Jackie,I lived in Field rd off of Forest Lane and i went to Odessa Rd School and Forest Gate High.I left school in 1967.Well cos i still think i am young and i was lush when i agreed to go i am off to see a band i think they are called 'The Cockney Rejects'and i am gathering up knowledge of them being punk.omg Annie |

I can't visualise Doric road......... but there was a block of flats called Doric House ...... prolly on the road LOL........... Wilmot street a stones throw from Bethnal green Tube stattion. Oh I agree those were the days............ I live in Ireland ( North ) and to be honest disregard media hype about it's troubles , its like being in a time warp 'cos you can leave doors & windows unlocked .......... thankfully no stairwell to clean these days but a huge garden to mow instead LOL!! morning deborah, my my, my other halfs family all came from bethnal green, doric rd ?, and wilmot st, his grandparents and aunts are buried at abney park cem, small world i don't know that neck of the woods me self, i came from west ham,, . but yes it was lovely in them days regardless where ya lived, leave ya door open, nothing nicked, these days can't leave a window open, small world jackie |

I lived in Bethnal Green a block off flats in Massingham Street just off Globe Road .....worked at the local estate Agents/Solicitors Office called Cornillie & Co. Married in Bow Reg Office :)) Wonderful community life we had there , everyone looking out for each other............. taking it in turns to wash the stairwell on your balcony etc LOL My granny was from Leytonstone . I was born in Herts :)) My OH's family have deep roots in the East End : Hackney ( many buried in Abney Park Cem) Bethnal Green - some only a stones throw from the flat mentioned afore , Mile End, Whitechapel and so on. |

hi annie, my stratford town hall, brings back memories, used to go there saturday nights , to discos in 1968, wat you goin to see, a show,? my nephew lives abbey rd,, not to far, he used to live st james rd, nesr the cemetry. small world. hope you enjoy ya self saturday. jackie x |

hi maz, sorry only just got on , penny fields too, my my, yes my nan nobles, was born there 1881. was romani gypsys, some of my bros/sisters were born forest gate hospital, i believe it is not more; my sister had her twins in there to 1973; did you no my bro jimmy baker lived in acicia rd, thats were he died to age 30, bless him, well i was born cedars rd, off water lane, when mum died we moved stratford rd, then just off manor rd, . the gypsy in me father, , chobham rd, yer, did you no the allen family ,' as you say small world maz, i bet walthamstow has really changed; so the towers beaumont rd being knocked down, , , it is changing , to fast; ,, jackie |

Hi Jackie, i left there in 1959 when i was 7!! became an essex girl lol my dads family all came from London, shoreditch, mainly, my nan lived in leytonstone high road, until she died in 1966, and my aunt lived in acacia road, then dames road, she was tradgicly killed in leytonstone high road in 1968. lots of nice people on here :-))) Jackie I have ancestors in Penny Fields Limehouse too - the Wrights. I was born in Forest Gate Maternity Hospital, lived in Chobham Road, Stratford until 1970, then in South Woodford. Now in Walthamstow EEEEE17 lol. All dad's ancestors were from Poplar/Bromley/Limehouse etc etc lots of them worked at the Thames Ironworks as Shipwrights. Mum was born in Major Road, Stratford and her mum in Chobham Road. Maz. XX |
