Sue In Oz | Report | 15 May 2006 15:53 |
Hi Deb, I know exactly how you feel. My daughter left Oz at the same age to stay in London. She travelled alone and hadn't been on a plane since she was five years old. She ended up staying away for 6 months but had a great time. Spent Christmas in London and New Year in Scotland. I missed her so much, but was so proud of her. She is now 24 and has a 1 year old daughter. Best wishes Sue |

Just an update. I have talked to her twice already. I received an email from her saying that she misses me 'tons', and is homesick. She cried last night in bed. On the posative side - she is legal drinking age over there! So she is quite proud that she can for the first time, buy a drink that is legal! She also saw Liverpool with the cup. She has taken pics for her Dad ( a BIG Liverpool supporter) Deb |

Talked to her today. She is safe and sound in Liverpool. What a day to arrive! I just hope that she goes into town to celebrate the cup coming home. Thank you all for your support last night. Debxx |

Hope your daughter has a great time. But here's a little tale............. My husband is a london taxi driver and he said a very young girl with a big suitcase flagged him down, she said she was in London from Canada and had no where to stay and could he take her to a hostel! He went to a church near Leicester Square and asked people who were outside for somewhere suitable for a young person, he thought these people though looked a bit druggy and didn't want to leave her with them, as they said, so he took her to a hostel in Poland Street (West End) he then found out she was just seventeen, had hardly any money ( £10) and the person she should have meet at the Airport 'didn't turn up' Well he gave her our home telephone number, paid for the room for the weekend, and left. On the monday she rang us, we then phoned her father in saskatween! (wrong spelling I know) who was named of all things Mr Corleone!, made arangeements with her mother for her to go back to Canada, picked her up on Tuesday..........took her to heathrow and gave her money to buy food. So the moral of the tale is..there are good people out there, willing to help and your daughter will be safe and I am sure have a great time, she sounds very sensible. |

I must give her credit. She has worked for 10 months for this. Scrimped and saved, and paid her room and board along the way. There were 3 of them going originaly, but he others backed out. She was going no matter what! I don't know where she gets her determination from ;) Deb |
