I forgot that he's started drinking heavily, going to bed late, waking up with a hangover in the afternoon. Not attending classes. Who wouldn't want their daughter to mix with someone like that?

You'll have to let this thread drift to the bottom and only update it when he's gone to bed. He seems to sleep all the time lately so you may be safe! lol

Deb I wouldn't put anyhing past him! Tell her to not to talk to strangers under the age of 18, particularly if they have a stuffed budgie under their arm.

Hi Maz, Lynda and Esmerelda I MAY be over there this summer! A special meet just for me! If I do come I'll make sure to pack the tiara! Esmerelda, no. Daniel has no idea where she is staying, I don't think he knows she is there (thank goodness) so you can sleep better now.

Just for my own peace of mind Deb .............. Daniel doesn't know where she is staying does he? I used to give my parents sleepless nights like this (like the time I sent my parents a postcard from Morrocco saying I wasn't going home coz I had a job there!..... LOL ........ mum was ranting about white slave trade etc.........) ......... now it's my kids turn to get revenge for their Grandma!!!!!!!!! :-))))))))))))))))))))

I had to laugh... My Aunty (younger than me) was woken up at 3am by a noise in the street. Guess who? Apparently she and my cousin (17) had a night out on the town and were sitting on the pavement killing themselves laughing. A good thing, but not at 3am!! She reminds me of myself when I was her age. I would never do anything like that (in Whistler a little while ago) at my age! Deb

Deb - forgot to say my son did the backpacking too at 18 and stayed away on and off for years, till he came back from USA with a young lass now his wife (of 8 yrs). My kids get the travel bug off me - I emigrated to Oz alone at 20. Remember when you were young? You just did things without really bothering to worry about it. Keep us posted on her travels! Lyn

Thanks Lyn! I'm over my nervous period (for now!). I'll be glad when she is back on her (new) familiar ground. I'm thinking of going over there in the summer. It has been 7 years since I went 'home' Deb

Deb - she will love it!! Going at a good time of year too. My daughter (then 23) did 6 mths backpacking UK, Europe,Scandinavia etc last year on her own. She didn't even join up with tours - just got out there and did it. She is a tiny 5', 43kg who looks about 16, she had a ball and met so many people (older couples in particular befriended her) She took 2500 photos whilst away and still talks about the wonderful trip. Your daughter will remember this trip for ever. Wish her luck from down under. Lyn

Well, the next leg of her journey starts tomorrow. She is off on her 'European Tour' Monday. She emails me every day and she seems quite at home now! She will be meeting up with Maz - East End after the tour. Deb
