I agree Deb. Thing is, if you make lots of sly digs, but wrap a bit of humour round it, most people here seem to thing you're alright. I'm afraid a lot of people can't see the wood for the trees.

Got in one Paul! What would be the solution? Ignore them and let them have their way on the boards, or fight back and possibly be reported to genes for having an opinion? Deb

I'd like to agree too. It's all very confusing out there at the moment and not very friendly. A little bit of respect, as Rebs has said on the other thread, would go a long way to bringing back some harmony. Helenxxx

We are all agreeing with each other here, and in Trish's thread, and in David's..... :-)

Paul Report 14 May 2006 10:14

course, you could come out fighting, get yourself suspended, and then we could have our very own martyr couldn't we ? Inicidentally, does anyone else find it unsettling that most of the 'new' people involved, and I thinkw e all know who we mean, don't use their real names ?

I too agree, and have added to Trish's thread.

Any suggestions as to what we can do to defuse potentially aggressive threads? I haven't been on much for ages because of this aggressive atmosphere. for example -calling people saddoes and accusing them of having no sense of humour isn't adult debate - how can we counter this? Gwynne

Debi Coone Report 14 May 2006 10:22

It makes me so sad that with all the horror going on in the world that some of us are unable to stop and think of other members and what might be going on in their lives before we type such utter nastiness at times. Its true that some members know each other and its also true that some members have been around for along time on the boards and yet we know nothing of them. Yet still a few like to personally attack and more often than not because they have NOT READ the thread correctly......... they've skimmed over, glanced or misinterpreted the opinion of another member through missing out one key word. So I too agree and am guarded these days as to what I can type and how it will or will not be misread. Much happiness Debi

Actually, on my spurs joke thread (still on genes) one of those 'New' people posted under her real name then posted under a silly name two posts down from that, 'Innocent' or not, Ive no idea who Im talking to and im sure some constant *name changes* are done for the sole reason of causing confusion and trouble. * Not to be confused with those who change their names but keep their identities, or those who change their name...state the fact and keep that name for a few months at least.
