Jess, the Plumb line and cement mixer were great, however you forgot the one thing that would send her away. ( As you were building a Wall ) Why did,nt you show her the 'Builders Bum'? That would have done the trick. :o)))))))))))))))> Hal.xx.

Hi Jess, I am sorry to hear about your friend Alex. I have nursed people in PVS and it is heartbreaking for their loved ones. This lady's thoughtless comments do not represent the views of everybody associated with the Christian church. It is sad that people like this give Christians such a bad name. Liz

The minister of one of our local churches was visiting the school where I work. He is so good with the kids and makes religion so much fun for them. Anyway my daughter goes to the youth club they run and had been telling him(shes 11 going on 20 by the way )about my adopted brother finding us etc etc as they do the whole story, anyway next time I met him he was so nice and said' I heard about your brother from your daughter, I have been thinking and praying for you all, he knows I'm not a relogious person but these simple words touched my heart. So the point is really it's the way it comes across that makes a difference.

Well. I admire these people even though I don,t agree with them. At least they believe in something. Assuming they are Jehovah,s Witnesses, I wouldn,t fancy spending my 'working' days, flogging a dead horse in all kinds of weathers , and having doors repeatedly slammed in my face. They are very probably misguided, but a firm polite refusal works for me. Happy days

Jess - pmsl at the plumb line comment lolol Really - what gets me is - do they think we sit home and wait for something to land on our doorstep ??? If we wanted religion we would go find it !!! Same as all the double glazing, block pathing sales people etc etc etc ............ I could have sat here for years waiting for my new windows to arrive via clipboard at my door - but no - I drove 5 mins down the road to the local DG centre lolol Get out there and mix some muck by hand that will get the frustration out of ya girl pmsl xx

Jess - I'll remember you and Molly when i need something done!! Maybe you and Molly can arrange for the woman to be part of the wall?

Paul

Paul Report 22 Jun 2006 10:49

what irritates me is that if you're doing something they agree with, its 'god guiding you', if you do something they disagree with then 'its against gods will'... surely if God guides us all, then everything we do is his will ?

I have nothing against any religion. I am not a very religious person myself but what I really don't like is other people raming their beliefs at you. like one of the above said they live in a bubble and should not hastle other people because sometimes that is what they do. Isn't it annoying how they always think they know all the answers.

Paul

Paul Report 22 Jun 2006 10:45

Jess, I know exactly what you mean about making the facts fit. Crazy isn't it, the thing is, they can't see just how crazy. Deep breaths... Paul xx ps I love the plumb line, ceemnt mixer line too :)

I get rid of JW's by telling them I have had a blood transfusion and believe in life after death..... I haven't had a transfusion btw but I do give blood and they no like it!! xx

Oh dear ... had to laugh at the plumb line and cement ... but then the smile slowly faded. It's difficult to be polite and firm with these people. I'm afraid that if I get them knocking on my door, they get told NOT to waste their time and mine. Then the door gets slammed. As has just been said ... they live in a bubble. {{{HUGS}}}} Elaine ;-)

Doesn't work though, does it? telling them to get lost? What does she know?

SheilaSomerset

SheilaSomerset Report 22 Jun 2006 10:32

Jess - I would feel exactly the same. No doubt it is 'God's will' that she go round and say things like this to people, in that case it is 'God's will' that I can tell her to get lost.

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 22 Jun 2006 10:30

Jess - I completely understand why you got mad!! I would too! Sadly these people live in a bubble and can't see the real world for what it is!! xx

I was working in my front garden just now, bottom of a cul-de-sac, when this lady comes trotting down to me, and starts chatting - Ok. She asks how I have learned to bricklay (I'm building a wall) She goes on to inform me, that it is GOD that is guiding me and helping me ( there was me thinking it was a plumb line and a cement mixer....) Anyway, she goes on to tell me that God will help us to achieve anything we want . I asked her,in this case, if i wanted it enough then , God would raise my friend Alex from her PVS in our local hospital? That apparently is ''Gods will'', and is different - thought it might be some how. I've had to come in and unwind myself.it made ,me very angry - talk about making the facts fit. Sorry , needed to sound off.
