So glad Merry isn't a relative whose memory I rely on for family history information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, Merry. I read through this thread thinking 'who are you on about?' and then when you said 'Bernice' the word 'Bertice' leapt into my head! nell

Born on 22nd July 1933 in Chester, Pennsylvania. Versatile Bertice went to live in London early in her career and sang Jazz, Blues and later, Soul music. She appeared in 'The Jazz Train' at the Piccadilly Theatre, London in the late 1950's and about 1967/8 she was living in Switzerland. She appeared in two movies, 'Lune dans le carniveau' (Moon in the gutter) in 1983 and then 'Little Shop Of Horrors' in 1986. In 1977 she guested in the 'Blankety Blank' show on TV and then again in a Lenny Henry show in 1984. She died in London in 1991.

Sheila Report 6 Jul 2006 16:16

I read through all five pages with bated breath...and I've googled as well. I'm as sure as I can be that it was Bernice Redding - if not it was something very similar. She was a little roly poly woman with no apparent hang ups about her size... and the toy boy. Funny she seems to have vanished without trace when she seemed to have such a huge personality. Perhaps that's it - she was maybe just a personality and never really did much... Sheila
