Hi Deb, Not 100% sure but think Rotherham comes under 'south' Yorkshire, maybe someone could confirm this? LL

LL, thanks for the info. not knowing any of UK other than on maps wasn't sure how far Beverly was from Rotherham, but guess it's not that far. As mentioned ggrandad was not a forthright man and so my gran doesn't know a whole lot about him. He immigrated to Canada in 1909 with ggrannie but can't even find a marriage record. They might have gotten married at sea or once in Canada but nothing found. She was from Devon and he from Yorkshire so not even sure where they met etc. Oh well will continue to search this illusive man. lol. Debs

Hi Deb, Beverly is in North Yorkshire, we go through it (depending on wich route we take) when going to Bridlington. Rotherham is roughly an hours drive from were I live (not too far from the meadowhall shopping centre). LL

LL sorry luv, Canadian, but just recently found out my ggrandfather was from (supposedly) Yorkshire. For a long time I've been searching for him in Hampshire as gran said her dad said he was from Southhampton and I know ggrannie was from Devon. Now after talking with my gran again she said she remembered her dad talking about being from Beverly??? Only Danford I can find with right year of birth was born in Rotherham, so am ordering the Birth cert and hoping this is the right one. Dear old ggranddad wasn't apparently above board on a lot of his past life. Long story lol. Debs

Hi Pat, Isn't there a biggish Garden Centre at Garforth with a train that goes round it and a camping shop as well? If it's where I think it is I have been there a few times as well. LL

I was born in Kippax near Leeds, married a Garforth near Leeds lad. We married in 1968, and lived in Garforth till 1995 when we semi retired to Bridlington. We retired to Morecambe in 2001. But I am still a Yorkshire Lass, and proud of it. Pat

Well as promised I am back (after taking father in law home). Crikey!!!! I didn't realise that there were so many of us from Yorkshire, I'm impressed. I have read all your messages and know all the places you have mentioned. There's quite a few of you from York you will have to get together some time. I was born and brought up in Belle Isle, Now live in Birstall, wich is near Batley. I am sure a few of you will have heard of the famous 'Batley Variety Club' now called the'Frontier'. LL
