I can,t realy understand what this muslim only day is all about . 'No smoking , drinking etc .' I live in a small cul-de-sac of about 30 bungalow's, houses and flats and in those live 4 white families [ myself included ] 4 African , 1 Bosnian and the rest are Asian Muslim,s . We all get on very well and over the weekend we were all sat outside on the street drinking and smoking etc . So are they saying that Muslims don,t smoke or drink . ' Think Again ' The majority of Muslims are no different from anyone else so why try to make out they are . Cath

My point isn't directed at any particular group. I just think that a fun park of the size of Alton Towers should be open at all times to everyone!

Any reason why gay people shouldn't be able to hire a venue for the day?

I can't see the problem. The Christian Centre here has booked out a local venue and it's Christans only on that day. I don't have a problem with any group booking a private function anywhere. Gwynne

I have been to Alton Towers, Legoland and Thorpe Park and have to say that I have seen many muslims there and having fun. As for the comment about the 'stroppy burger bar attendant' and halal food - Does that stop vegetarians going to these places? Just because somebody works in a burger bar, it does not make them ignorant - in fact many summer employees of places like Alton Towers are students.

Thank you Tracy!!! I think that if anyone's planning on visiting these parks then it would be a good idea to check with them first to find out if you are 'acceptable' for that day!!

The problem I have with it, is that it is a fun park!!!! It should not be used for gay days, muslim days or any other such days it should be open to all, at all times regardless of nationality, religion or sexuality! Its a fun park!

I don't think other religions are barred. If my Muslim neighbours decided to go and invite me along, I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem if all the tickets were bought through the required source. Look at it another way. Alot of people would normally not be allowed on mixed rides because of their religious beliefs. Are we so angry that we can't allow them just one day of fun.? I have known a local company to hire Disneyland, Paris for their exclusive use. You didn't know? Not news worthy I expect. Gwyn

they are attempting to integrate the Muslim Community by allowing them access to a very British Day Out - which they would not normally do under their own steam because of it being restrictive when it comes to following their religion. I can just imagine the over-reaction of some stroppy burger bar attendant at Alton towers on a normal day to a Muslim park guest asking if their food is Halal.

Can you imagine the outrage if this was a christian only day? Racism can and does work both ways I expect this is just another brainwave from the over zealous PC Brigade, when all that is needed is a greater understanding, acceptance and tolerance of each other's faiths. Events like this make no positive contribution to that. So what next? Gays only days, disabled only days? The worlds gone mad. Most people visiting the Park would have a good time what ever the mix of people, because it really doesn't matter.

The wedding day itself won't be affected but they had planned to spend the following day in the theme park and are now thinking of going elsewhere Bride and groom Jumping on the bandwaggon.<< They planned to go back the next day - how were Alton towers management suposed to guess that? Why shouldn't this happen ?the day I mean. ANYONE can go along - alton towers are still availing the facilities to everyone, just have to purchase tickers thru a website. I cant see the problem myself -

I only heard about it today, on Talk Sport (I know it's not sport, lol) I think it is absolutly rediculous. Wouldn't it be better to have something like a 'Faith Day', that way, you would get a range of faiths and communities, mingling with each other. I have no problem with Muslims, or any other religion, but having this day is stupid. There would be outrage if there was a Christian Day, or Judaism day.

I think the wedding was booked before the fun day

Alton Towers themselves have created a problem for the couple marrying - why on earth did they agree to hire out the park to someone if there was already a wedding booked - or to book a wedding if the park was already hired out?

Trying to integrate into the community! what a laugh, how can they integrate into the community if there having the own fun day, with no other religions there. Some integrating. Sorry I feel like Strump on this one, best not saying anymore. Regards Yvonne
