when i had my wisdom teeth extracted i went to theatre, they dislocated my jaw, took the teeth out under a general anaethetic,3 hours later I woke up with blood all over my pillow, and didnt have the strength to button my shirt-in fact they wheeled me out to the car in a wheelchair....my face looked like it had a large tennis ball in my cheek, and had to keep the area clean with a saline squirty bottle,...........just thought I'd share that with you........ |

When I was 24 I was told I would have to have both bottom wisdom teeth extracted. So......after 20 years or so of regular dental attendance, that visit was my last for over a decade, because I was terrified! When I was about 35 I broke a top wisdom tooth and had it taken out. I resolved to defeat my fears and attend regularly again. After one 6 month appointment and one filling the dentist retired, so......guess what? I stopped going! Last Sept I broke off part of another back tooth. I ignored it, but about two months ago I started to get toothache in and around it and the last week I have realised this isn't going to go away as the pain is getting much worse!!!! Sooooooooooo, this morning I have visited the dentist just to make an appointment! Am going for an assessment on Friday. I cried at the reception desk because I'm sooooo scared (and embarrassed too.....hubby says I must cure my bad breath - there's an admission for you!!) So, please tell me I can get past Friday and whatever treatment needs doing. This work will be private, not NHS, so please send me your donations!! Once I'm back to square one, I want to register with an NHS dentist and get back to regular visits. Ohhhhh, but I'm soooooo SCARED! I would rather deliver another baby than go to the dentist :o(( I know I will be making an excuse that I can't find an NHS dentist when it comes to the crunch (no pun intended!!)!! Scared Merry x |
