CHAPTER EIGHTEEN It was a busy night in the GRrrr Arms. Roxy Anne Sultan, the new landlady was busy behind the bar polishing her halo.. I mean optics. The new barmaid, Lessylee was doing a sterling job trying to keep the pumps flowing, but goodness those residents of GRrrr Street could drink! Miss Daisy Buttercup was at the bar.. propped up by a pint of baileys and chopsing on a bag of Alf alfa from Ayley’s health food shop, and keeping half an eye on Gaudy Georgies new outfit.. it was making her feel a little queezy… or was that the Alfafa… she wasn’t sure.. Miss Daisy leaned over to Gwendoline Housemartin, who was rummaging around in her green sequined shoulderbag.. “ here dear, just taste this… I am sure there is a hint of gin in it” ”Ooh no thanks me love” Gwendoline replied absentmindedly” ive got a hot date tonight with a fireman” she dived back into her bag “ now where did I out that Eu De Chunnel” “ A fireman Dear” Daisy was surprised “ however did you pull that one off?” “ I am not sure” Gwendoline pondered “ I was talking to some nice men on this building site and, this lovely man said he was the fireman… well his accent was a bit strange.. but anyway.. he is taking me out tonight.. that’s what he said.. he wanted to take me out..” “ Daisy sucked hard on her baileys” Over in the corner of the pub, Wendy wigglesbottom was sitting at a table with Ayley Hay. “ another drink wendy?” Ayley rose out of her chair and made her way to the bar.” Oh just a small sherry please.. I have to lick some stamps later and need a clear head” replied Wendy. “ well if your sure”Ayley plonked the glasses on the bar “ can I have a small sherry and a triple gordons gin lessylee please” Ayley coughed “ I do like my gordons gin”. Lessylee muttered under her breath “ yes but does Gordon like it” and reached for the optic. Just then, the doors flew open and in swished Rosey Clacton, wrapped up in a huge mac.. but with a strange padding sort of bulge around her middle.. what on earth had she got on under that coat????
