Granola, maybe has a few calories but is extremely healthy, and is low GI... 8oz rolled oats 3oz flaked almonds 2oz sunflower or sesame seeds 3oz raisins 4 teaspoons clear honey 4 teaspoons sunflower oil (polyunsaturated, so ok) 1 teaspoon vanilla essence. mix together the oats, nuts and seeds in a bowl. in a saucepan warm the honey, oil and vanilla, and add to the dry mix, mix throughly making sure everything is coated. Spread onto a large baking tray and bake for 15 - 20 mins at 160c or until golden. put back into bowl and mix in the raisins, allow to cool. Will keep for about 10 days in airtight container. Serve with either skimmed milk or yoghurt, or fresh fruit. No need for sugar, the fruit and honey act as natural sweetners. This is the basic recipe, it can be tweaked to your own taste, is apple pieces, dates, dried apricots, banana chips, other seeds. So there! :-))
