Hi Everyone ,wow what a nice day here again ,going from cloudy and cool here this morning ,with thunder rumbling in the mountains ,to a nice afternoon with me sat on the patio with my trusty lappy .lol Liz was pleased anyway ,Sean having saved ALL his washing since the start of the month it looks like ,he he, but even today despite moving the dryer onto the patio in case it DID rain ,it has dried very well. The Little Corsa i brought runs very well ,and is already called Betsy by the missus?[don't ask he he I paid3600 for it ,saving £200 on the hire prices, just in time too ,Sean sells his Subaru today, and will use the Corsa for work ,while we use it the rest of the time to see the sights. He will then use it until he is due to march out ,then sell it on ,crafty eh? i even get some money back at the end of the year. Liz is okay but too sore just yet to get into the car ,so we are taking it really easy until mid week next ,when we are planning to start our jaunts into the towns [Limmersol] and Pafos] and some of the sights ,of which there are plenty. Shade and me are best buddies again ,after two iffy days ,lol,i bought him round by doing all the feeding while daddy was at work lol,he sits on my knee now content and playful ,bu ,of course ,i get brushed aside once Daddy comes in the door .oooooo ,these cat's are fickle sniff. Fish is off the menu apart from once every couple of weeks ,it's that dear ,but ,however ,A the fish markets will be getting the hammer when i get home ,and B i have found some proper scot's Haggis at about the same price it is at home ,so i will have some of that instead. Veggies are dirt cheap and tasty so things are pretty much on the menu, but the leeks here are pitiful,as are the beetroot [meooooow ] not their fault really ,they havn't the water to grow them properly,,lol i showed the local grocer a photo of one of my show leeks ,and thought for a minute he would have a fit ,his eyes rolled and he kept looking at me ,shaking his head from side to side and looking back at the pic' hmmmmm wonder if i could get a job here growing veggies he he. I can't be critical though ,apart from the onion family being small and wishy washy, the othor stuff is ace ,big parcals of mint for .27euros,lovely sweet peppers ,juicy and crunchy ,.30 euros ,the melons have to be seen to be believed ,huuuge and juicy, cabbages up to 4 kilos in weight, and the potatoes ,really cheap .and good .well we won't starve, that's for sure..Havn't been to the greek bakery yet ,but i am goingto ask the owner if i can take a couple of pics, you have never seen as many different sorts of bread and rolls in one shop in your life, and the bread is better than anything i have tasted at home. Thankfully i am diabetic ,or i would be coming home weighing about 18 stone ,with all the cakes and pastries this bakery has on offer, all sizes and colours ,iced , well i think i had better rely on the piccies ,i could go on all day. I may see if i can get a bit of fishing in while i am here ,Limassaol prominade is supposed to be good for it,Liz ,? she will be quite happy to sit in the shade of a palm tree on a bench with the book she has rescued from Sean who borrowed it for the flight back after his last leave ,Liz hadn't even read it lol. Harry Potter ,and The half blood Prince ,so that will keep her busy for a while. The thunder is coming this way peeps ,so ,i am going to shut down for now ,just in case ,Hope everyone is fine,.catch you later ,Fred.

Good evening everyone, turns a bit chilly when the sun goes down but still not bad - turning out to be a pretty good Indian summer, just hope it lasts for another week or so. Well Fred, read your message on Cannuks Int. pleased you told that woman just what you thought of her. How rude and inconsiderate can some people be, she maybe will think twice in future before being so thoughtless. I guess with all the other people making it clear that her behaviour was unacceptable she was left in no doubt that she couldn't get away with it. Thank goodness Liz wasn't badly hurt, must have shaken her up a bit though. Pleased to hear that the change is doing her good and you seem to be enjoying yourself as well - feel very envious. Just relax and enjoy your break. Dorothy, I'm wracking my brains trying to remember just where you are in Canada - no good just makes my head hurt so please will you refresh my memory? Pleased to hear you and Ann are having a good time but sad that Ann is fretting about her dog. Such a shame that she had cut herself off from friends. I hope David is feeling better and recovering from his injuries Brenda, must have been quite a shock. Christmas cakes - always used to have mine made by now but this past couple of years haven't bothered and in fact ended up buying a cake. Have to say they were very good but not quite the same as homemade. Think I will do one this year but not the big square one I always made. Not so many to eat it now so it is a bit of a waste. My stay in Solihull was very restful, the weather was not brilliant for the first week, cold, windy and wet but then it brightened and turned quite a lot warmer. Dan went off to uni at the end of my first week so it was just Andy, me and the cat. Missed Dan as we used to chat a lot and he always was interested in my research, often helped with it. Andy is just interested in football. He is a coach and is currently coaching under 10's, he also plays in a team. Only trouble is he is a Man U supporter and I'm a Chelsea fan - so we avoid discussing those two !!! Poppy (the cat) is not very interested in conversation - just as long as she gets fed when she wants. I was her best friend whilst my daughter was away but she didn't want to know me once they came back. My new glasses were not ready before I left, this time I went to Boots so they sent them up to Birmingham for me. First time I have been to Brum for a while, hadn't seen the "new" Bullring before. It was very busy and we didn't stay long. I wouldn't drive into Birmingham - hate their one way system so we went on the bus (Dan and me). Took about 40 minutes, parts were a bit depressing but quite a lot of improvements in other places. Coming home on the Sunday afternoon the M40 was pretty good, not too busy and no holdups at all - just at one point I was behind an idiot who kept putting his foot on the brake every 20 seconds, I thought there was something in front of him causing a problem but when I was able to move over and overtake there was nothing in front at all. When I got near to home I could see the traffic ahead was building up so I came off the M40 at Maidenhead and avoided the dreaded M25. That road is a nightmare and best avoided. Well been home for over a week now and sort of got back into normal routine. Was pleased to see my tomatoes had produced a load of fruit, not sure that they will all ripen though. The cucumber succumbed to mould but the pepper has produced one nice large one. Got loads of blackberries from the brambles that have crept in all through the shrubs, have to say they are lovely - sweet and flavoursome, but they will have to go !! As will most of the shrubs, they were not a good choice and have grown too big, time to take them out and replace with something else, not sure what yet. I have bought one small maple which will go at the end of the garden in a corner and shouldn't grow more than 6ft. Will also provide a bit of colour where I need it. Time to go - I have a feeling it is going to be one of those nights when I will sleep for an hour and then wake up and not be able to sleep again. Hope you all have a good night/evening. God bless Love Kathleen

Morning all,we have a dry but grey day here ,hope it stays dry as i have some bedding to wash. Also have a ton of ironing ,where did it all come from? My sister is coming at lunch time and I am making some lentil soup, weight watcher style, might have to add a sandwich for david and John!!! I have to go to the supermarket at some point and get some more cherries for a christmas cake, have made three and was a bit heavyhanded with the amount of cherries i used, might make some more as I am giving them as presents. John is waiting for a call to see if his friend is playing golf, all the other members of his group are busy with other things today. Hope Fred and Liz arrived ok and have a wonderful time. Hope Anne is still enjoying her visit Dorothy,I have colleageues at work who can not or will not accept a lot of invitatations as they are so wrapped up with their cat or dog, whilst the animal does give them a lot of love and joy it can also stop them having more in life. Perhaps it will not be too long before you can come back and viisit Bury? Better get the porridge on ,we need to get back on track with the diet.!! Take care Brenda

sunday evening 6-30 my time sorry to hear the news about david brenda I do hope that he recovers well what a horrible thing to have happen, so fred is off to cyprus it will be fun to hear all about it from him, yes anne and I are having a good time we have been out and about in the area and for some drives the leaves are turning so it is very pretty, I have found a big change in her this time she misses the dog very much and the dog is her entire focus in life, she also seems very sad and lonely she has shut herself away from a lot of her friends as I say her life revolves around amber (the dog) and if she can't take her with her she does not go out or visit, all my friends who have got to know her over the years have remarked in the drastic change in her, we went over to andrew and lindys for dinner one evening and he cooked up a storm he did ceder plank salmon on the barbie and a wonderful appetizer of brei with a crab topping really great, to-day we drove around the lake and then anne did some shopping the time has gone by fast she leaves on thursday but I can see that she would not have lasted if she came for three weeks, we call every other day to see how the dog is doing at her friends! I hope that you all keep well bye for now dorothy

Hi all, back home now. Travelled back on Sunday, still trying to get myself back into some sort of routine.
Brenda, so sorry to read about David I do hope the police do manage to find witnesses so that these thugs don't get away with it. I agree with Fred - bring back the birch - and bring back justice for the victim. Far too much leniency shown these days.
Hope you have a good holiday Fred, enjoy the flight and have a good rest in the sun.
Dorothy, great to hear the weather is holding for Ann's visit. It's a great time of the year for sight-seeing, especially all the changing colours of the leaves and usually some lovely sunsets.
Sorry to read that Sylvia has not been feeling so good and it must have been worrying when Johan had a hypo. i do hope you are both feeling better, keep taking the tablets Sylvia - could be you are right and they've finally got it right !!
Will catch up again soon - just got to get myself back into "everyday" mode - it has been just relaxing and doing lots of reading so it's quite hard to do all those boring things - like shopping, cooking and houswork.
Take care Love Kathleen

Hi all, thanks for asking after David Fred, even the police sai it could be a waste of time as they need more proof as David can not remember He is feeling more like himself today judging by the lunch he made.!!! He has to limit the time he does anything ,only spending 20/30 mins on here or watching tv etc .he can make it more bit by bit. Hope you a nd Liz enjoy every minute of your holiday ,you deserve it. Have a few things I want to look up .so be back tomorrow,Brenda

good afternoon all ,just a few lines to bring the thread foward a little. We have just confirmed our take off times for Sunday and we opted for window seats in front of the wing with window seats so we can see the alps as we go over the top. Should be a well laid back flight ,meals on the way out too ,lol, the only bummer was us taking off before Greggs opens ,[ blast ] Sean had asked for a Greggs cheese pasty for tea oh well ,the best laid plans ------. I decided on the lighter acer laptop to travel with ,it's nearly as powerful as the H P but,a lot lighter, a lot easier to hump about [no rude comments please]. i suppose i should have used better terminology he he. Hopefully the wireless link to the internet that Sean has will be a good one ,so that i can keep in touch. Have to be able to do my lotto after all he he, it would be just my luck not to do it and my numbers come out. time to get the tea now ,but i will be back ,lol.take care all of you Fred,& Liz

sorry to hear about the son Brenda ,and hope he is better very soon,it's high time the courts bought back flogging for the idiots that do these daft things the isle of man had nothing like this while flogging was still in use ,most criminals from that era would tell you ,being punished this way once ,was more than enough. To hell with the europeans and their human rights bill ,that should be for victims ,not perpetrators, things need to change before anarchy sets in. getting really exited now .lol, four days to go ,and counting . Catch you later Fred.

Morning all.sorry I did not get on here yesterday ,was on work 12-8pm not my favourite shift as you know, but we were busy so it went fast, had to do a real tidy up ,saturday must have been busy as the shelves were a mess. Did not have trouble getting up for work Saturday Fred was up all night. My son was not well and we ended up at the local hospital A&E at 5am. To cut a long story short the week before he ended up in hospital as he was assulted coming home from the match.Got a head injury,in hospital 3 days ,had brain scan, bruised brain, small bleed, just watch him .etc. He had really bad head all week,Friday night started to vomit again,so back we went ,as they advised us.Another brain scan,to be sure no futher problems .all healing nicely.another night in hospital. Had to phone in and take special leave. my son is 34 and 15 stone ish but he had one hell of a bang on the head that could have been alot more serious. It is in the hands of the police, who do have someone ,but David's memory is very sketchy, and it depends on other witnesses. Anyway he seems a lot better now.Off today and tomorrow, will try and get the hair cut I did not get on Friday.!!another long story I will not be telling you about.!!! ope Anne and Dorothy continue to have a good time, and Fred no rides in helcopters !!! Take care Brenda

Morning people ,from a coolish north east of England where i am having a cuppa before going out into the garden to start the pre winter tidy up . Don't think i have even room for Hissy in the remaining case Brenda ,Liz always sees to packing and runs a tight ship, all the nooks and crannies are full of socks and other bits and pieces . Weve laid in enough grub to last Hissy till Christmas but i reckon she will still give us a hard time when we come back ,he he,the whole week we spent in Blackpool was bad enough, sulks ,little bites and ,i'm ignoring you phases, the whole works ,so it looks like being a lot worse this time round. We are swanning off up to Cramlington later this morning to try and find a case strap and a light weight mac because ,this is the rainy season over there and i don't want to be caught out while on a longish amble ,or beach trip. As we come home ,i reckon our Brenda will be about ready to go ,now she has everything sorted [i hope] so there will likely be some swapping of notes when she returns. well ,time to go and take the boss her cuppa up ,so ,see you later all ,have a good weekend, last chance to get a B B q in ,i reckon ,so ,get to it ,he he,Fred

Good morning peoples , not a bad morning up in the north east ,but too wet to do a Brenda and get into the garden[blast] he he. Not to worry ,i need to go to town anyway and get a pair of long flight socks from Boots ,can't be taking any chances on a longish flight can i ? Hey ,i struck lucky yesterday ,both me and the boss [not the furry one] got a clean bill of health at the dentists and decided to call in at Tesco on the way home . Don't know if anyone remembered i was looking there a couple of months ago at the printer scanners ,but anyway ,i found one yesterday on the start of the Christmas offers a printer scanner copier with the card slots for the camera cards, just like the one i already have ,BUT ,it is both usb ,and wireless enabled ,which means i can use it via the laptop as well as the wife use it via the desktop,.At £45 it's a snip,it's upstairs awaiting the chrissy wrapping paper ,lol,The old one will go to a charity shop somewhere in the town where they will find a new home for it. We have the first case ready to go and reweighing it i found that it is well under the limit at 15 kilos,so we are going to borrow another case of the same size from the son and get that filled next week. The missus is chuffed of course ,but i pointed out that it's the coming home that's the problem after she has found all those bargains and other bits and pieces ,we will then see how well she packs cases Off to the doc's before town to put in the shipping order for the flight ,cor ,all the medication will fill that first case up no bother. We have a nice stir fry lined up for dinner ,and i will do a small calgannon for tea ,i am trying to keep on top of these three kale plants that are so big they could be used for some jungle scene on one of these kids cartoon series about Land Before Time. Have to go now and get the wifes cuppa upstairs so that i can raise her from the deep depths of sleep, wow ,wish i could sleep like she does. Fred
