Good morning peoples, sorry for being so lax ,but i slept late this morning owing to two long tiresome drives in two days. I am so pleased i went though ,not only because he was my dads brother and my uncle ,but i got to meet many people i havn't seen in fourty years ,and probably will never see again ,but there were a few gob smacking moments lol, which i will describe. I found two cousins who have been flying up and down the roasds between High Wycombe and Long Framlington in Northumberland for years because they have children living there,so ,in future ,they will be stopping off for a cuppa on the way up ,or down ,or both. I was speaking to cousin Sue ,when a fella walks up to me and says,[you don't remember me do you?],i had to say no ,because ,at the end of the day ,i didn't know him from Adam. He then said ,my name is Rodger Newton ,i used to go to Spring Gardens school with you ,gob smack one ,lol, then cousin Sue said,Rodger is my husband ,gob smack two ,it is a small world indeed. Then i got the biggest gob smack of the day ,and the very biggest small world i have ever encountered. Back at Sharons after the cremation ,i was going through the old family photo graphs and came across the papers from Allans days as a Royal marine, he joined the war effort on his 17th birthday and passed out in early 1942 ,and was promptly posted to an aircraft carrier ,H M S Impaccable of which i already had a photo of ,because it's the same ship that brought my father in law home from Sydney in australia after he was rescued from the jap pow camp in Singapore. So,Unknown to both ,Both my uncle Alan ,and my father in Law ,left australia ,went on to Canada and then home to england on the same ship, and never got to know they would become distant relations to each other in the future,[one Biiiig gobsmack lol]. I at last found my grandads grave yesterday morning ,and left him a Poppy Cross and a nice bunch of flowers with apologies for taking so long to find his resting place. I found Junes too ,who is interred with her parents[and where Alans ashes will be buried],and left flowers again, and lastly to dads grave on top of the bank, where funnily enough, now i know where they are,i can see both the other graves down lower on the hill, all in a triangle to each other ,dad at the top. So the trip was well worthwhile and i came home in a much better frame of mind The hotel was comfortable ,the only complaint i had was the cost of the wi fi £10 for a couple of hours is daylight robbery ,in future i will take the acer which is vodaphone dongle enabled ,they can ,whoever they are ,stuff the wi fi where the monkey hides it's nuts ,lol Glad to hear that you are still going on holiday Brenda that will do you more good tan owt else, and give those tablets time to kick in properly. be back later all, time to start organising dinner . By the by,we saved a fortune on meals in Loudwater peeps.100 yards down the road is a tesco superstore where we filled up when we got there ,AND had a nice meal at a fraction of the cost of the hotel meals, AND we went back for brekkie the following morning lol. That's the scot's blood coming out again ,he he,catch you later Fred.

Afternoon all, well its a cold day here, been fairly dry,not been busy,as in not many people coming in ,but the ones that have been have wanted lots of books reserving etc or asking about new books we have not yet got on our catalogue. So we have been busy that way, Looking forward to the roast lamb dinner John is doing to night!!! The practise nurse,is a nurse who sees to certain people with certain condtions, she checks BP.diabetics, gives advise on diets and injjections for flu etc.you are refferred by the gp to her, saves them doing it I suppose. My leg seems a little better ,the nurse said the tablets are slow acting really,so it could be a few weeks before I see any real improvement, I am at physio on Tuesday so might know more then as well,am starting the packing this weekend.as i do intend to go on holiday. Better go now and get some work done, Brenda

hi well I am thinking of building an ark rain again to-day I had a great meal with laura on thursday evening we went to the red lobster lots of shrimp etc a good time was had by both of us and then went to the local chapters book store so she could browse around and buy a book. to-day I am taking one of the ladies out to see the new bakery that has opened in town called the lemon tree bakery it recieved a great write up in the paper so we shall check it out.. yesterday I called anne to see if she had gone to silver street to see the princess anne open the the new carers place in bury, I remember silver street very well there used to be a jewllers store that I bought my mom some earings many xmases ago. but she had forgot all about it she was busy making xmas cards she makes beautifull ones. 2 towns about 30 miles from us had snow yeaterday so I really should not complain about the rain .well that is it for me bye for now dorothy

hi brenda hope that you knee feels better soon fred had some good advice as usual don't give up on your holiday, what is a practice nurse perhaps it is like our nurse practioners who have extra training and can sub for the doctor in some situations. fred you say you are off for a few days you mentioned a funeral did you have someone pass away I must have missed that. brenda I am sure the evening with Laura will be interesting no matter what resturant she picks, Laura has just started getting into investments she had her parents invest 800 dollars that she had saved up, she is not a spender but a saver she had a paper route for a while and banked all her money I told her if I run short I will call her for a loan!!! it is funny that she needs extra help with her school math but is fine with money well it is raining again so that is it for me for to-day bye for now dorothy

How dare you think of giving up on your holiday Lady ,after working so hard for it,yuo get yourself away and enjoy it . You will probably find that your knee will respond to the warmth and a dip in the sea,so go for it. Take a few quinine sulphate tablets with you which help in many cases to give good relief from leg pains and take some paracetamol too. Having seen the advert for this three bird roast ,i think i may get one for the new year ,Turkey ,duck and chicken all put together sounds good to me ,and cutting will be easy ,no bones. Haveto go and finish the packing now ,so i will be in Wycombe when i come on line again ,and i will take my t-mobile dongle ,in caase the hotel has no wi fi. Catch you all later troops.Fred

Good morning to Dorothy and Brenda.plus anyone else who pops in for a chat . Nice to see someone else has had a family meal lately Dorothy ,glad you enjoyed the tennis too. Hold on to your hat Brenda ,more heavy rain is on the way so i hope you get back home before it starts ,and anyway ,the worst of it may miss you. Seems we are going to the youngest son's for Christmas day along with Sean and Marta,so i am getting two days off this year ,Two days because Sean and wife are out all boxing day and have to go home the following day ,much still left to sort out in their new married quarters. We go down to Lyneham in mid December for a few days to help unpacking all the gear which will have arrived from Cyprus,so .what with that and the funeral this weekend poor old Liz and myself have our work cut out. We are bogging off to the sons shortly to dump all the kid's pressies ,and bits and pieces off [wahey] ,rooom left to move around again. Brought Liz aa slide film converter for Christmas so that she can convert all the slides i have of Gibralter ,Spain.Malta, and ,the med' of my forces days. I am letting the boss do all the pics because to be frank ,she is far better than me at it ,so i am left to do all the 'puter programming for her ,what you call a good partnership ,lol. Think the way things are going ,we will be having a nice ,quiet Christmas at home ,with none of the rushing about that we have done for years ,he he ,time to put our feet up ,under the desk ,and pester you peeps who are online boxing day on ,Bah Humbug [not]. Have to be getting on ,the rain has arrived here already ,drat, and i have lot's to do before going out. See Ya later peeps take care all of you.Fred

Hi folks, sorry I have not been on for a day or so,the pc was running really slow ,so my son decided to defrag,it took a few attempts to get it running after he had done a virus run etc.so I could not get on ,but was busy anyway. Glad you and the family are ok Dorothy ,a girl I work with had a similar problem last year when her daughters class mate did the same thing ,pleanty of rumours for the reason ,but none conmfirmed but the other girls in the class where oeverwhelmed. They did get councelling etc which helped ,but my collegues daughter was really down for a long time, they do not go to a church ,but I am sure that does help. Fred feel sorry for the people in Cumbria myself ,we had some flooding on the roads near where I worked the other week and that was bad enougth, would not wish that on any one.You seem organised again for christmas, all I have is a peice of beef and pork. But hopefully have all my pressies bought!! Better go need to do some irononmg as I am in work early again and not at lunsh as ai usually am on Mondays. Brenda

Good morning all you fair people and welcome ,old Fred has now hungup the frogmans suit back in the shed and been out back in the garden to rescue some carrots as they went down for the third time, lol. All the people in the carlisle area i feel so sorry for ,and to think Liz and i nearly moved there five years ago instead of coming here ,the mind boggles ,there for the grace ,and all that. Since we came back we have done all our christmas shopping ,early ,just in case the weather does get really nasty shortly. We now have a small joint of beef in a large chicken ,a small turkey crown ,a small pork joint .lamb leg ,and a precooked honey roast of gammon brought from Aldi [now sliced and in the freezer. Nearly all the pressie stuff is in too ,so we are pretty well there.Housework [spits out of the corner of the mouth ] we are nearly up to date but of course the garden is a different story what with all the water ,still folks ,it could be lots worse ,it could just have come down as snow up here brrrrrr. I updated the sat-nav last night ready for the trip to High Wycombe for the funeral next Friday week,i didn't fancy the west coast route with all the flooding so ,it's the sat nav and the a1/ M1 this time , it's a preety long trip too ,through to Chipping Norton first for the cremation ,and then through to Wycombe where we have booked in to the Premier Inn at Loudwater overnight ,before going back the following morning to wycombe and the cemetery so that i can pay my respects to the family members before coming back home up the M1. Have to do a shoot ,there is still the rest of todays housework to do ,and ,of course dinner ,i am making kalgannon with the last of yesterdays mash.with some grated cheese on top,and have taken the left over B b q meat that didn't get used up,pork chops ,snags, burgers, and bacon ,which i will do in a rich sauce, weeeell ,i need space in the freezer to take all the veggies from the garden,so i am now using all the odds and ends to make room for it all ,lol. Have to go peeps ,work to do and all that, have a good weekend all of you.Frred.

goodmorning I think that the wet weather you have been having is now over here we have had rain for the last 2 days non stop but at least it is not snow brenda and kathleen thankyou for the kind remarks re the grandaughters loss of a friend, it has been a sad week for the children the death of a classmate and the way it was done is very hard to deal with. the children have always been involved with their local church with their mom and I think that is helping as well. brenda it sounds like you are nearly ready for your holidays when exactly do you leave. I planthis week-end to write my over seas cards I seem to have got behind in that area, I shall mail the other part of anne's xmas gift on saturday she toolk part one home with her when she was here. its funny at this time of year after living here so long I do get homesick I guess the memories of our christmass's in walshaw come flooding back special days for me, well I shall brave the rain and pop out to the shops take care everyone bye for now dorothy

Morning all,we had a very quiete night at work last night, but we manged to get a lot of admin stuff done ,which was a good thing, the weather did keep a lot of people at home.the ones that came in had to use the computers or return books or had reservations to pick up. My weekend of tthis week and I have lots of errands and shopping to do.Want to finish my present buying off,and have orederd a new light fitting from Argos ,but it was not available at the two nearst stores so I will have to go tothe one a bit further away from us,but there are loads of road works etc all around it .!!!!!Will go on my own as John would loose his patience going there. Also want to finish the alterations to some pants for the holidays,Will also need to start on the christmas cards as I want to post them second class just as we go away. I have 5 christmas cakes this year ,and am going to try and make my own sugar paste decorations for them, and need to practise a bit at doing it. Have an early start as I am at the doctors at 9 for a prescription change,so had better sort out my emails and get dresssed ,Hope everyone is ok,and have a nice weekend. brenda

Hi all, it has been a good day weatherwise. Bright but rather chilly there was a breeze so I did get a line full of towels dry.
Dorothy, I am so sorry to read about your g.daughter's classmate. What a dreadful tragedy to have to deal with, that one so young has taken their own life. It is good that the children will get help to deal with this but it will be difficult for them especially at this time of year. So sorry also about Lindy's uncle, she has a lot to cope with dealing with this and the children who have lost their friend.
Not a lot of time just now, hopefully will be able to add more later or tomorrow. Good to see Fred back, hope the tummy has settled down now.
Have been wondering about Sylvia and Johan, hope they are both ok.
Love kathleen
