Morning all ,from the old codger who is now minus 4 teeth in all ,seeing as the dentist said that filling the offending tooth was a waste of time.
Felt quite sorry or him really ,he pushed and pulled ,went from left to right without a lot of luck ,but managed in the end ,the tooth, as it turns out had 3 roots instead of 2 making it awkward to get out.
Nice to hear from you John but really sorry to hear that Gayle has kidney problems ,and i hope the doctors sort her out like they did me some years ago, luckily for me i was only left with enlarged organs after they sorted me out,and i have had no further problems with them, hope Gayle is as lucky.
Hope everyone is set up for the Burns supper tonight,no excuse now saying you are vegitarian seeing as Halls [one of the main producers ] make a veggie version with no animal fat in at all.
All i have to do now ,is go out back and pull a neep out of the veggie patch and i am ready to go,lol.
Have to go and put the sack out for collection ,some charity is collecting clothing for children in Afghanistan ,an ideal way to get shot of unwanted clothing with out cluttering up the recycle bin.
Catch you all later,Fred.

Hi everyone, almost a month has past since I was last on GR and took a few moments to catch up on comments. Britain seemed to be locked in a cold zone for awhile there. Our temperatures have been up and down in the past week ranging from 19C to 25C in New Plymouth to higher temperatures elsewhere in the country.
Gayle has had problems with her feet for the past three weeks with one swelling quite badly and had to use one of my old crutches to get around. The doctor gave her anitbotics. Monday (18Jan) the pain was quite bad and she tried to see her doctor but couldn't get an appointment until the next day. A call to the renal unit advised her to go to ED - seven hours later and a prescription we were back home. Tuesday she went to her doctor. Today things seem better but its going to take awhile before she is 100% and is no longer use a crutch. For a time there she was sleeping in another room because of the problem.
Craig will be visiting us next week as its a provincial holiday where he lives and it was decided to bring Gayle's 60th birthday celebration forward so he didn't have to make two trips down.
Have a great week

Just a quick message, I have posted two since 4th January but neither seems to have made it through cyber space to this page although at the time I could see them. Gremlins at work????

Most annoying as one was a really long one, so a belated Happy Birthday to Sylvia, hope you are feeling better now that your tablets have been changed.
Dorothy, enjoy the tennis - you really are a loyal fan.
Brenda, hope you and John are feeling better now - sounds like you were really suffering with nasty cold/flue.
Fred, hope your visit to the dentist solves the problem - toothache isn't any fun (neither is visiting the dentist).
Hope everyone else who may look in is keeping well and warm (or cool in the case of the Down-unders)

Hopefully be back to post a proper message soon.

Take care all
Love
Kathleen

Good afternoon all'just come in from Morrisons and finished our dinner [hot dogs ,onions in finger buns] nice and quick and quite tasty.
I am able to get the veggie out of the garden now ,so ,only need to pay out for onions for a few weeks, which will save loads of pennies.
Looks like microsoft have sorted out windows 7 now ,so i think i willl load it back in this afternoon and see what gives but i will be leaving the acer on vista for a while to make sure.
Don't know for sure what is wrong with your puter Brenda but it could be that you have lost some files off the programming or it could be that you have picked up a virus [both a pain to put right]and can sometimes can take a long time to get things back to normal.
This is why ,whenever i buy a new puter ,the first job once you get started is to make a backup of all the files on the hard drive and put them on disc in a safe place, just in case they are ever needed.
I hope the laddo will get it all sorted for you Brenda,if that sort of problem hits me ,i can call on the eldest son to sort it for me ,but usually i can manage myself.
With the bairn here ,we are having a party tea tonight, fresh baked rolls with three different meats to choose from including a little corned beef out of the freezer.
I will be doing some savoury stuff as well ,cheese rolls .sausage rolls ,some mini pizza and the like and little chunks of cheese with different sorts of crackers.
The missus put a large net of onions in the shopping trolley without asking me if we needed any [we didn't] so i reckon i will be making a big stock pan of onion soup tomorrow to use the half net we already had,but ,not to worry ,soup is always welcome on a cold evening, and i enjoy it ,a little Parmissan cheese sprinkled on ,and some slices of French bread.
Time to go and do a little work, catch you later Fred.

Morning all, its grey and cold here ,but at least it is dry,for now anyway.
Dorothy the new shopping centre is across the road from the multi story car park and the old cinema next to it .don't know what was there before. But it will be big like the Arndale in Manchester. Marks are moving in there and there will be aDebenhams, and lots of other shops, plus a cinema and bowling alley!!
I am having a lot of problems getting on my pc at home.so my neices partner is coming next week to see what he can do ,he has been at uni doing IT courses .Will try getting on here when in work as waiting a half hour to get on at home is rather frustrating.
Home fred and Sylvia are ok

goodmorning from a cold but sunny barrie brenda glad you had a good trip to bury too bad about the muti parking lot anne and I have ended up on the top floor on my visits, where abouts is the new shopping centre located is it in the upgrading of the rock area. I know that sometimes it makes sense to down grade to one car but the freedom of having 2 is great also. fred and liz sound very warm and cosy fred thankyou for the e-mail glad you liked the joke. andrew and lindy are having two giant windows installed to-day to replace the ones that are there the one on the front of the house goes from floor to ceiling and the one on the 2nd floor is the same so it is good that the weather is being kind to them the front one is about 20 feet high I would guess. bryan tried out his injured knee at hockey the other day though andrew did think it was a bit soon but it did not swellup again so I supposed bryan is pleased he has really missed his hockey. I am going over there to-morrow for dinner so that will be fun. I have been watching as much tennis as I can though the time differance does play havoc with my sleep bye for now dorothy

Hi all, well the snow has all gone ans its safe to walk round to the shops at last.
Hope we do not see it like that again for a while,we had lots of people phoning work to renew books etc,and some had not been able to get out for three weeks, luckily they had visitors who brought them anything they needed ,but they could not take the chance of going out and having a fall etc.
Saw an advert in the local paper for a holiday to Majorca in April ,good price and nice hotel, was very tempted, but as we might have sold my dads house I want to wait and see ,as we could be booking for Australia either later this year or early next.
Hope you are ok with the new tablets Sylvia, what a shame you did not get to the birthday celebrations.
Fred you sound so cosy with your Liz in that house, and so organised!!
John has been thinking of a newer car when we down grade to one ,after I finish work ,I am a bit bothered by not having sole use of a car as I can just take of to friends and family when I like,I know I have my free bus pass ,but it is not the same.!!
Dorothy, had a good time in Bury ,but think everyone had the same idea ,with the snow gone, ended up on the top floor of the multi storey car park. Did get a few bargins as we had a lot of birthdays to buy for.Bought some pies for our lunch and some Black puddings to freeze for John. The new shopping center is coming on great ,it opens in the summer,Marks and Spencer are moving into it (wonder who will be in their old shop) and there will be a Debenhams .
Take care see you all soon,
Brenda

Hi all,
Wel is Spring just around the corner or not? When I woke up this morning and looked out of the window I was surprised to see that the fairies had swept all the white stuff away.
johan and I were going to Eindhoven today to our daughter's partner's birthday, but I look awful and couldn't face a room of strangers looking like I do. The tablets I am taking are causing an allergic reaction and I have swollen lips, swollen tongue and large red patches on either side of my mouth. I phoned the doctor and have another tablet now to help against the allergy. When is it going to end?
I did manage to keep myself busy here at home today. I had months of bank papers which needed filing, so this is what I did.
Last Saturday I made a huge pan of Dutch pea soup and have frozen a lot of portions in. When I am busy I forget all my aches and pains.
See you all tomorrow Sylvia xxx

goodmorning just been reading the last few entiries and boy oh boy do we all need spring to come, brenda if you and ohn get to bury to-day I hope you enjoy the market I shall be thinking about you and fred glad you have got the house warmed up enjoy your seed book, sylvia I hope the medication clears up the problem for you. as for me my gentleman friend drove up yesterday for lunch and a short visit it was snowing in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon it was nice to have the company for a few hours he came at 10-30 and left at 1-30 he wanted to drive back before it snowed again and got dark, the family have gone snowboarding this morning and then they are going to toronto to the royal ontario musuem to the king tut display and staying overnight in a hotel back on sunday evening so the dog has gone on vacation to the kennels that they use for him he loves it their it is funny to see him as the van gets closer he gets quit e excited,it is a big place with lots of room to run around he gets on well with the owners dogs so he gets to stay with them in the house. it is a little warmer to-day 4 degree's so I shall have a wander around the shops. tennis starts again from australia this week so I shall be having a great time watching with perhaps some naps in the day as with the time differance some of the matches are on live in the wee hours of the morning but oh it will be soo good to watch, I hope that you all keep well good luck fred with the visit to the dentist not my favourite thing to do bye dorothy

Gooooood morning all from a coldish ,very wet ,but snow free Newcastle [yippee] ,don't know how long until the next lot arrives ,but old Fred is about to get some veggies out of the garden while he can ,lol
Everything seems to be back o normal now ,the house nice and snug, the shopping done ,and the housework backing up ,groan, oh well ,has to be done i suppose.
My new seed book came in the post yesterday ,so i have something to have a look through tonight, pity they don't have some wellies for sale though ,i could do with them about now ,he he.
We have def' decided on staying with nissan ,they have earmarked our new car for june, this year ,at last years prices ,complete with a deisel engine at no extra charge, and the seats are well up off road level ,so the old girl, only has to shuffle her bum enough to put her feet
out of the door and she is standing upright ,just what she needs to save the old knees ,lol
You sound as though you def' need new boots Brenda, you don't need a fall at your age ,bad enough when you are a teenager ,but a lot worse at our sort of age when bones take so much longer to knit back together.
Hope you get through to bury okay ,and enjoy your mooch around the shops,he he ,i do enjoy a good mooch myself, coupled with a nice cuppa in some cafe to have a rest half way through.
Glad to hear you are sticking with the tablets Sylvia ,you will get there in the end, just need to take your time now ,just like the rest of us oldies ,lol
Time to go now ,and get on with the housework, catch you later Fred.

hello everyone, well hopefully the rain will now have washed away the last of the snow, but it made a right mess today the pavements are like ice rinks near here,my street isn't to bad but when you come out and try to walk to where I work it was trecherus?
Dorothy hope you enjoyed the ball game and have not been snowed in or frozen with those low temps.I am hope fully getting up to Bury tomorrow, both John and I have a few family birthdays coming up and want cards off the market and need to get presents.I also need to look for new boots with better grip, the ones i have are a few years old now and so smooth under neath I slide on the smallest bit of ice.Mind you I have been told about two people from where my son works who have had falls and broken wrists ,and his boss frctured his collar bone! My sister slipped as she got out of her car and turned to close the door, she has bruised the bottom of her spine/coxit?and hurt her knee when she tried to get up.
Glad you seem to have the correct tablets Sylvia lets hope they do the trick.
Fred, hope you are keeping the house nice and cosy for Liz,must admit I really felt the cold the last few weeks even at home where its usually ok without the heating in the back rooms as they face south and always seem warmer.
Having trouble sleeping again these last few nights, probably due to worrying about my neice and the new baby ,but she is doing fine now,
Am going for a drink and then back to bed, have got some different types of sleeping aids from friends ranging from lavender sprays for the bedding ,candles and oil fragerance burners,so will be trying them tomorrow night.take care ,Brenda

Hallo all,
Isn't this snow and ice hanging on? I am longing to get out again on my scootmobile but daren't do so in case I slip.
Everything seems to be breaking down at the moment. We are not sure whether or not we need a new printer, but anyway we seem to have a cartridge problem. Johan has now fixed up our old Brother printer where we can only use sheets of chain paper. I'm not sure how you call this paper so have literally translated our word "ketting" into chain but you will all undoubtedly know what I mean. It's not so nice to write letters on. but something to fall back on.
I have a bacterial infection once again in my bladder and am on my 3rd lot of tablets. It took so long for my sample to get through the labs so the doctor started me on one tablet and then another and today she got the answer from, the lab so hopefullyhave the right tablet. I also had my vitamine injection today - just two more to go!

Keep warm, Sylvia xxx

Back again ,hoping the pages will behave for a while lol.
one of the reasons we came back up the m5 m6 and A69 was to see if there were any lpg pumps for seans new car, because there was only one on the way down on the a 1, m18, and m 1 ruddy pitiful.
On the way home ,the were 5 on the M 4 M 5 ,M6 and another on the A 69,much much better, and despite bad conditions in places ,time wise it compared very well to the A 1,so,i thik this is our way up and down the road in future.
Up early this morning ,hoping to get the house warmed up properly before the missus gets up bless her ,she hates the cold and had to have two water bottles in the bed last night lol.
Lots to do today including taking the car to Leamington to get the car cleaned, just the outside today ,,too cold for the missus to stand out in the cold while the inside is cleaned.
I am now going to reinstal windows 7 because i am ruddy sick of genes inabillity to sort out this page jumping ,somehow ,running 7 stops this happening ,see ya all shortly,Fred.

Good morning all you lost lonely and poorly peeps, here's hoping you will all be better very soon,Fred is home nursing a sore tooth ,but never mind ,a, not anything compared to what you others are suffering ,and i am at the dentistd on Tuesday ,yessssssss ,pain ,pain ,go away lol.
We decided to come up the west side of the counrty to see if it was any easier than the m 1 and A 1,nor a lot of difference in the time ,but we did see a lot more snow in the midlands[poor Brenda ,still in the doldroms ,lol, but think yourself lucky lass ,you have far higher temperatures than we have,,the house ,when we arrived home was 10 c indoors
It would seem that the outside temperatures were down in the minus 2 to 4 nearly all last week and it was snowing most of the time too.

The son bless him came and cleared the drive and ramp for me sometime yesterday ,so we were able to get the car in no bother.

Going to shut down now and reboot ,hoping the pages will stop jumping about ,it really is time genes got themselves sorterd out over this grrrrrr,Fred.

Hallo all,
What a lovely bright day it has been. A blue sky and sunshine, but the ice and snow remain.
I have new tablets now and they are helping relieve my pain. Yesterday I just sat and cried for a while as I had so much pain, but these tablets help me with this problem.
tomorrow I have to go to the surgery for another vitamin injection. I'll keep this short. but you will know I am still around. Love, Sylvia xxx
