badger Report 11 May 2010 08:51

Morning peeps ,and Hello to our Brenda, nice to know you have the all clear lass ,you should be able to clear up the tummy trouble in a couple of months now ,at least ,now you know the cause'
Plenty of rye bread for snacking ,spread with a little marmite or something like that, corn flakes ,or porridge will do the trick, and some shredded wheat for a change, all fibre rich ,and tasty to boot.
Hope you catch your moose Brenda ,one thing i don't like in the house ,remembering my childhood and one pregnant moose that got into the kitchen at our house in Totteridge ,we had mice everywhere in weeks ,and eventually had to resort to an extra cat as well as traps every where before we got rid of them.
Take plenty of warm clothing when you go on Holiday Brenda it isn't too warm anywhere this year yet ,and take extra cash in case this perishing volcano doesn't die off as expected, seems half of Europe is effected this week.not so bad if you are on a package deal because the holiday firm has to make sure you get home okay.
Hope you have a great time ,after retiring it's just what you need to recharge the old batteries [eer ,didn't mean the OLD ] that way mind ,lol.
Liz is getting back to normal thank goodness, but is still rather sore ,but i do need to get to town tomorrow to give my opticial a roasting ,my glasses ,less thaan 8 months old that i paid over £60 to have made as reactolites ,on top of the other charges for eye test ,frames and fitting have stopped working ,so i am not a happy bunny to say the least.
Time to go0 and sort something out for the dinner ,maybe Lasagna ,broccoli and new potatoes.
Catch you all later ,Fred.

hi gosh my cats are going to be so jealous of all these mice running around that is one thing I don't get up on the 11th floor glad your test went well brenda and yes adding fibre to your diet will help try and avoid nuts but the diet person will give you lots of good idea's, I had a great e-mail to-day from my cousin in london (reading) we have a new baby in the family a little girl this branch of the family all live in the isle of man except for joyce in reading her sister brenda wouod have been this baby's grandma but died a few years back quite young it is a shame she did not get to see this new member a lovely photo but then again I like all babies, the snow has gone and the sun is shining but still on the cold side, tennis to-day from spain so I shall have a good day brenda elizabeth george's new book is in at the library for me so I shall have someone drive my car to-morrow and run me over to pick it up I just finishe the graham hurleys latest this week-end and it was very good bye for now dorothy

Hi everyone, had my colonoscopy on Saturday and all was well.but have been told I have diviculitis or something like that .It is common apparently and is to due to not having much fibre in the diet, but I am already doing what they suggested ,granary breads ,no white bread,no or not much processed foods etc .more friut and veg, have to see the doc after my holidays and as I am also seeing the dietician Iwill see what she says aswell.
Sorry about Liz fred ,hope she is ok now,
We have also had similar incident with the mouse in the last few days ,it went like this ,John goes in the kitchen and sees our white cat come in the cat flap with his trophy in his mouth, tries to stop the cat ,who runs down the hall, up the stairs, luckily all bed room doors closed ,cat and mouse come down stairs into lounge ,cat puts mouse down ,John tries to grab mouse, cat gets mouse rund behind sofa.!Cat comes out other end ,john and I run after cat ,who gets out to kitchen and back througth cat flap. However we have no idea what happend with said mouse as cat diasapered over fence .
hope it is not to be seen again. see you all soon brendas

badger Report 9 May 2010 09:50

Morning all you loooooovery people ,,wow ,what a day i had yesterday ,some good ,some a little iffy ,and some bad.
Hi To Sylvia ,,all my cars are contract ones, and includes all servicing ,besides ,the new diesels are worlds apart from the old ones ,cleaner than petrol ,more economical , and they no longer have these soot problems providing you change the air filters every year
The ruddy cat managed to get a playmate past me into the house yesterday morning [a mouse] letting it go in the kitchen where it shot off under the washing machine,so i brought a trap while out yesterday afternoon and set it last night before going to bed.
When i got up this morning i found the useless ball of fir crouching down by the shoe rack inside the front door, and so pulled the rack forward to reveal the mouse hiding there ,so i pushed it out using the wifes brolley.
The cat grabbed the mouse and ran into the kitchen with it ,and by the time i got there she was playing under the table with it,letting it go ,and catching it again ,even playing with her ball as well ,and grabbing the mouse every time it tried to get away.
The mouse did manage to get away again and shot under the washing machine yet again ,so i was getting rather annoyed with the cat by this time.
I dragged the machine out from under the bench ,pulled off the kickboards
from under the benches to get the little critter out ,where apon the cat grabbed it again ,taking it back under the table to play with, and i saw red he he,i pulled my slipper off ,dropped to my knees ,slapped the cat with the slipper ,and when she dropped the mouse ,slapped that too, killing it ,so that i could get it into the bin outside the kitchen door.
End of story ,but i swear ,if that ruddy cat brings another mouse indoors to play with ,i will keep the mouse ,and throw the cat out .lol.
I had a good day as rergards the garden ,getting the winter cabbage put out ,the brassica, and the brussels into the buckets ,only leaving the primo spring cabbage to put out today.
I also got out ,the beetroot [all 60] plants into their growing places, and then got into the greenhouse and put in the broad bean, runner ,and dwarf french bean, which will be the last of this years crops, apart from the big leeks which i will buy this next week.
The missus had an argument with the front speps yesterday evening ,bruising her upper ribs badly and also her wrist which is now black and blue ,she is very sore this morning and didn't try to dress this morning ,and is now sat in her dressing gown on the other computer,i know she hurt herself pretty badly ,the first time i have seen her cry since her mum died.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend ,i am off now to put the last row of cabbage in before it rains yet again,he he,Catch you all later,Fred.

Hi all,
Fred, had you thought that running a diesel car would be cheaper than a petrol one? We found the spare parts on a diesel car to be more expensive. Also to pass our MOT test we had to undergo a special soot test which was not always so easy to go through. This entailed putting some cleaner in and then running round the block a few times. No no more diesel cars for us Fred.
Tomorrow is Mothers Day here and I'm knackered now. I have baked bread, made big batch of small cakes and a clafoutis (this is a French idea being a sort of baked custard tart with cherries at the bottom). I was going to do a curry for dinner but my daughter's ex turned up with his wife and that made me rest for the rest of the day. He bought me a lovely bunch of flowers for Mot hers Day.
He still calls me Ma and my husband Pa, even though my daughter and he have split up 8 years ago now.
I wish it was warmer. Our central heating is still running every day,
I now have a smaller mask for my apneu which is not such a strain on my face.
Goodnight sylvia

badger Report 5 May 2010 09:21

Hi All ,and a very good morning from Newcastle ,where the weather is lousy ,due partly i reckon to the return of the ash cloud watering down the temperatures .
I was a bit narked this morning to find my car covered in ruddy dust no doubt due to the volcano as well ,and i only had it cleaned two days ,ago ,and now it needs done again grrrrrrr.
Glad to hear that the garden is coming on well Brenda ,the spuds will do fine, and the strawberries will be too ,the frosts knock them back as it has done mine ,but a nice feed ,and they will be away again, strawberry is a very hard plant and will withstand the worst weather and come back,if treated with care .
I will be out back later this morning getting the beans into their cups ,the broad ,runner ,and french, very handy for stir fries and curries.
At last ,my first barrel of tatties are starting to come away ,and should with any luck give us plenty of tatties around Christmas again.
In The meantime Brenda ,if you like your tatties for jackets ,mash ,and roast ,if you come across Cyprus tatties in one of your markets ,i recommend them, really outstanding they are ,and full of taste.
Good luck on Saturday too ,hopefully all will be well and that will be the end of the worry.
Dorothy ,there is nothing strange about having no ill effects from a stroke ,nearl half the human brain is unused ,so if the stroke hit one of these parts ,the illness should clear itself quickly hopefully ,you will be fine ,and driving again with in a few weeks at most.
Have to go now ,things to do and organise ,lol, including getting ready to decorate the bathroom and toilet . Keep your fingers crossed all of you ,my son's first B B Q of the year is on Thursday evening if the weather holds ,lol, i just hope the stuff dosn't taste of volcanic ash or sulphur he he. Catch you all later ,Fred

Still nice wetherwise today,so have some washing out on the line and have been rearranging some tubs,John ,David and hopefully the neighbours will be replacing the fence between the gardens at weekend.
I should be having my colonoscopy/endascope??on Saturdayso will not be doing anything.!!
Fred the spuda are doing well ,but the strawberries are a bit wilted,John has put the spring onions and carots in a trough and Iwill do the leeks later,we have a few plants for the baskets as well,
Hope you got to the library Dorothy,I have been lent quitet a lot of books lately and need to get them read and given back,I hate to hang on to other peoples books.,incase anything happends to them.etc.
Better get some lunch now and then have a go at the ironing ,have also got to start on some alterations to a few pairs of pants for the holidays.WHich are coming up rapid.!!

hi glad to hear about your trip fred it sounds like a good time ws had by all yes I expect to get over this soon but at the moment I don't have any ill effects which is strange I guess, I see the family doc on thursday and of course will be asking ever so sweetly as to when I can drive again I feel fine but will do as I am told!!!. we had a wet week-end but we needed the rain it is nice and sunny to-day I think that andrew will stop by I need to go to the library I am out of reading material strange seeing I have 8 tall filled book cases but I have read those books many times.your election will be soon I have been trying to figure out who the country as a whole will vote for it seems like it may be close I shall watch the results on the tele. one of my friends has a new cat a british short hair someone didn't want him so she took him he is 4 and has his papers the other owner paid a 1000 dollars for him she must have been mad, with all the rescue cats that need a home my friend has 2 other cats so she is introducing the new one slowly to the others so she now has max ginger and the new one is called otis she is not to keen on the name but I think it is a bit to late to change it well that is it for me to-day time to get this day on the go it is 9-45 am bye for now dorothy

Martin Mere is run by the same company Brenda ,as are a load of others in the country ,but Liz and i prefer Carla Gran, but we were fortunate to be in the newly opened part of the site which is nearly all owners vans ,hence ,lots quieter,he he ,Hazel and Darren sorted that out for us.,good to have family on site, the housekeeping team fell over each other to help us in any way they could.i e ,making sure we had our own car space right next to the van for Liz.
As stated ,we are away back in October for the Illuminations and a break nearer home ,after the main one in Cornwall.
Need to do a shoot for now ,while the rain holds off ,tons to do and things to plant ,including replacing ten Fushia shrubs,my own fault for trying exotic types instead of the hardy variety .lol.the sever winter killed most of them off ,the three that survived should come away all right ,and i don't think we will have a sever winter like that again for a long time [says he ,hopefully.
Catch you later Fred.

badger Report 1 May 2010 09:10

Morning all ,yes ,we had a great week what with our walks to the nature reserve at one end of the park, and some very nice sunny spells.
We had a dog fox who was so laid back he ambled over the grass and road going to and fro from his den ,not being fussed if humans were about unless they got too close.
I saw him three times with food in his mouth going towards the bank at the back of the vans ,so there is a vixen around ,and probably cubs too.
Early in the morning you could hear the geese coming in ,so low that you could hear their wings as well as the honks they make to stay in formation.
Later in the morning if you are outside the van you can hear and see the ducks as they come in to feed.
Hissy would do nowhere without me last evening ,poor little mite was making sure we didn't go off and leave her again,so i had to take a coffee out on the patio where she could see me ,even then half the time she lay by my feet ,one paw on my toes so that she knew if i so much as sneezed ,he he.
You will get there Dorothy getting over a minor stroke takes a while ,but i have a mate who was back driving his wagon once the hospital knew he was stablised and safe to be behind the wheel again and that was many years ago.
Now is the time to see if the cat will let us out of the door to go shopping ,lol or wether she is going to make a fuss.see ya later peeps,Fred.

goodmorning glad to hear that you and liz had a good week fred I am sure you will be glad to be home and see your little furry friend, brenda you have been busy what with one thing and another, yes I am glad that the one test was ok, not happy about the results of the other one and not being able to drive I guess I did have a small stroke but don't seem to have any damage from it other than this one spot on the brain, the family dog rocky is not doing well he is 7 and is a big dog but has gone off his food and was losing weight so after a visit to the vet it was found that he is in liver failure on meds at the moment and more blood work to be done he is a husky malamute cross a lovely dog, as andrew is out of town this week I guess he and lindy will discuss what to do this week-end, looks like a wolf but is very gentle. so we shall see what happens, to-day is the afternoon tea and I am going to see if one of the ladies will drive my car to the shops as I am fed up of bothering andrew and lindy I know that they don't mind but I like to be independant when I can I am insured for other drivers hope you all have a good week-end bye for now dorothy

HI all,Fred you always manage to make me feel hungry when you start talking about the food you are having!!
Glad you had a good stay ,I know the Koi carp place you are talking about have passed it often on the way to Johns mothers, but never been.
John may be going up on Monday to help his stepfather with something ,but I am not going as I have a lunch date with my friend for her birthday.
There is now only one spare single bed at his mothers and its not good for one to sleep in the bed and the other on the floor in a small bed room, thats one reason I don't go often. Its the same in the caravan, but even smaller,.
Not too busy today Fred ,went to the library, changed my books ,ordered some that John wanted .so we are both ok for a few weeks.
Tomorrow I am busy again with a few errands ,as we are out at a wedding on Saturday ,hope the weather is kind to us.
Hope Dororthy and Sylvia are ok.
take care ,Brendaw

Told Ya Brenda,he he who is busier now than she used to be at work ?,lol,a few of us told ya ' didn't we ?.We have had a nice week so far ,and i have had fresh air on my legs while wearing my shorts ,and a very thin body warmer [the summer one.]
The sis in law took us to the Koi Carp Garden Centre outside Cleeveleys yesterday morning ,and after a look at all the fish and plants ,we sat on the patio of the Cafe and had a lovely cup of coffee, sat by the side of their huge pond ,with tons of fish to watch, even seeing a duck fly in who came over to us expecting a free meal.[he didn't get one] ,lol.
Our last day is seeing the weather getting worse ,but we have had a good week finishing today with a B B Q for the sis',and bro' in law at tea time,,where it looks as though i may have to use the cooker if it rains.
We will have to go out and get a few odds and sods like bread buns ,onions for the hot dogs ,and some sauce for the burgers.
We have plenty of other stuff like salad and salad cream,so ,if you fancy a burger anyone ,you know where we are.
Pleased to hear that the the test was negative Dorothy ,and hope the other problem resolves it self very quickly.
We leave here at 11 a m tomorrow morning and i will be pleased in a way I have missed my little furry side kick and will no doubt land up tomorrow tea time rolling the floor with her for a good few minutes.
Time to go and have a look around the boards before going for my walk.
Catch you later peoples Fred.
