hi from a very cold barrie I did watch the funeral brenda of the policeman about 14,000 turned out for it it was heartbreaking to watch especially when his wife and 2yr old boy came in to the big auditorium. yesterday I finally went out to clean off the car it had not moved since friday so it took me an hour to clean it off the big plough had been in the lot so I had quite a bit behind the car but the lady manager came out and dug around the car I think she had visions of me collasping under it anyway it is done still the next big snow fall and it ran like a charm, I shall go to isobelle's on sunday no matter what the weather is as andrew is driving and he has to go to the airport to pick up a couple of his emplyee's who are flying from the west for the week long meeting they are having the airport is only about a 30 min drive from isobelle's. the tennis is going well as usual I am not getting a lot of sleep as it is on from noon till 5pm then back on about 10pm till 3am as there is 16 hrs time differance for us but I don't stay awake till 3 long past that I used too but not any more, hope all is well with liz and fred , enjoy bury if you go bye for now dorothy

Hi all,had a busy day yesterday ,went to manchester to meet my friend we had a walk round the shops for a few different things, without success.
H ad a nice lunch and then a coffee later /
Finished off some jobs at home when i got home.
Today we started moving things from the living room so we can start to strip it to decorate, but want to get a plasterer in to get a quote to have it skimmed so we can then just paint it.We have been thinking about it for a while ,but need to see what it will cost.
what a shame about the policeman Dororthy, you see similar things over here ,not sure you would see that many at the funeral though and you are right about them putting their lives on the line as well as the people in the forces.
Hope the weather warms for you, will you still get to your friends next week. How is the tennis going.
fred hope your son is on the mend and you know what the problem is,you and Liz must be out of your minds.
I am out again tomorrow to have a coffe with my friends they are going on for lunch but I am not sure if i am going as i am trying to loose weight I have lost 10lbs up to now and dwant to loose at least another stone by april for a wedding .
better get to bed ,just noticed the time,
Take care Brenda

goodmorning we have mixed weather this am rain and snow parts of toronto are shut down this morning for the funeral of a 35yr old poiceman who was killed last week trying to stop a stolen snow plow, this was stolen by a man with no shoes and apparent mental problems he crushed the policeman between the plow and the police car, the policeman leaves a wife and 2yrold son, they expect over 10,000 policeman from all over canada and the states to line the route and march behind the coffin. it will be the biggest police funeral held in toronto a very sad day his father is a retired policeman, sometimes we forget that when the leave their homes for work they may not come back as they protect us. hope you all are well will put off cleaning the car till to-morrow quite miserable outside bye dorothy

Afternoon all ,sorry for the absence but i have had a few prob's with my eldest son being rather unwell, come the finish he landed up calling an ambulance because he couldn't get to his feet ,or walk, but it looks like he is improving a little ,and is awaiting a diagnosis from the hospital after tests.
I have used these few mild days before the return of the frosts and cold ,by stripping down the rest of the little windowsw upstairs and sealing them properly, and have finished the upstairs altogether ,yippee ,only one window ,and the back door downstairs now ,in the spring ,and that's the lot done.
I spent two hours yesterday picking up all the garden furniture after the gales late last week ,and the weekend ,but i notice that everything else stood up to the very high winds okay.
Also notice that [Fridays] the fish and chip shop next door to Morrison's that we go to once in a while for dinner whilst out is now doing take- away [deliveries] which is handy ,the meals they do are out of this world, and i can see us having fish suppers or something else off their menu on a Friday evening, which will save me cooking once in a while.
One of the grandsons turns 18 tomorrow and is looking at taking driving lessons with a view to buying a car ,but i am afraid he is going to get an awful shock when he looks at the insurance premiums, the companies are now ripping off new drivers, and need to be taken down a peg or two,all insurance prices are ridiculous and it's mainly down to greed ,not the economic climate.
Have to go now ,as i am getting stared out by Hissy who seems to think it's her tea time ,he he,if i leave it any longer ,it will be prods of the paw on my legs till i move my bum, lol.
Catch you all later Fred.

Hi Dorothy ,yep the flooding is now starting in other countries as well, Brazil.Malasia , and Mexico to name a few, even in oz the rain seems to be heading towards Melbourne now ,God help them ,there seems no end in sight at the minute.
I heard that the worlds magnetic north pole has started to move towards Russia at the rate of over a metre a year, which means that all the birds ,fish and mammals that migrate by the magnetic fields are going to get confused and land up lost ,many miles from where they wanted to migrate to,and this may also effect the worlds weather to some degree ,the world does look to be going all to hell.but ,according to the powers that be ,like the ice age ,it has all happened before.
I have managed to get out in the garden this A M and pull the last of the kale for dinner, and i even managed to pull one of the Parsnip .which seem to be sound ,and so are the tatties in the barrels,so it looks like i only have to buy a Swede at the end of the month for my burns supper, every thing else ,like the Haggis are in the freezer.
offnow for a nice soak in the baath before making the tea ,so i will catch you all Later ,Fred.

goodmorning from a cold and dull morning in barrie I was reading in the paper that manchester is one of the top 20 places listed in the world to visit that sounds great nothing too much new over here the teen grandchildren went back to school yesterday so they must be feeling better, january is such a slow and cold month that I don't feel like doing much but the tennis will be coming on the 16th so that is something to look foreward to, the floods in australia are horrible to see the weather in the world seems to have gone mad, hope you all are well bye for now dorothy

goodmorning well the snow has passed us by but the toronto area had quite a bit glad you are feeling better brenda colds are miserable at this time of year as jan. seems such a gloomy month, yes I enjoyed a lazy day yesterday lots of music and I read 2 books made myself a nice meal for dinner(5-30). will pop out to the stores to-day it is clear and the sun is shining so you forget it is cold. nothing special on this week I may put some photo's in order in a album I have been putting that off for quite a while. andrew mentioned going out for lunch one day this week if he works from home so that will be a change. must say I slept in till 9am to-day I have not done that for a long time as both cats would wake me at 7 to be fed so very strange without simon. but it will get better I know, hope fred and liz are ok maybe they are busy at the moment if the weather down fred's way is good he was going to get out in the garden I think he said. bye for now dorothy

No snow but wet and miserable ,typical Monday morning !!!
Hope you enjoyed the lazy day yesterday Dorothy, my friend does that quite often on a Sunday, mind you she is still working,so she sees it as a necessity to wind down not a treat.
Hope the lads enjoy the shopping and the holiday sounds great.
We have been looking at some holidays but there is not a bargain to be had at the minute unless we go in the next few weeks which we do not want. Our friends are talking about going on a cruise later in the year but I am not keen .Hope Fred and Liz are ok ,not sure wha the weather has in store for them.
Better get dressed and out on my errands.Take care ,Brenda

goodmorning the snow is on the way so they say just a few flurries at the moment and I do believe the sun is trying to shine, sorry that you are not feeling well brenda wrap up and lots of fluid, glad you got to bury yesterday I guess the stall holders do deserve a holiday now and then. I think that it will be a quiet sunday for me I shall get into a book and paly some music. andrew is taking bryan to aruba at the end of the month they were planning to go shopping yesterday for sandals and new bathing trunks also andrew is planning on booking a half day deep sea fishing trip aloong with 2 of his friends who also had the trip adwarded to them it will be an experiance for bryan andrew has done it before. I see that my sister is getting dumped on in calgary with snow and very cold weather she will be glad when march comes and they go to arizona though after the shooting yesterday maybe she will be a bit nervous. she has a birthday coming up on the 10th of feb. and is not happy about being 64 as I told her what is your problem you are still 5yrs younger than me and look at lindys mom 72 and still ski-ing and down hill at that age is just a number well get well soon brenda bye for now dorothy

goodmorning a little lake effect snow this morning but it should go away soonI hope as usual fred your menu's make my mouth water 25hrs to get there well I suppose in this day and age it would be possible to fly over and arrive in time(don't I just wish). looking at the time it is about 2pm your time and brenda hopefully is having a browse around bury market. good to hear from john and allhis news sounds like they had a good christmas, fred if and when I am ready to have another pet I would get a rescue animal but as I was so used to having two as I find they are good company I would look at getting 2 who have been to-gether in a family, but I am going to take some time over this decision, the australian open is coming up around the 16th I think a friend of mine has asked me to come to brampton and stay with her so we can watch it to-gether so I think I will consider this andrew would drive me down as the family as yet are not keen on me driving that far alone I am sure that I can do it but the strokes I had have made them nervous ( no ill effects as far as I can see) and isobelle's son would bring me back, I appreciate the concern but do value my independance and I would not drive that far if I felt I would put the other drivers on the highway at risk anyway I shall think about it isobelle and I do love our tennis. bye for now dorothy
