badger Report 9 Aug 2011 10:03

Morning Brenda ,yep ,you have reached the point in your life where you have to do for self and hubby before anyone else ,time someone was doing for you,not ' tother way round.
I made my new family their bread pudding this morning seeing as i was going to need the oven for the dinner,so i set to and ,using my biggest tin made a pudding that will keep the bairns in grub for a week ,lol.
Once it has gone cold i will cut it into squares and put it into a seal able tin ,and put it in the fridge.
Doing a lovely joint of beef for dinner today ,pot roast so that i can use the juices off it for the gravy, with which i am doing four sorts of veggies from the garden ,along with roast red onion, peppers ,and parsnip ,to go with the roast potatoes ,sweet potatoes.
Hope you are okay over there Dorothy ,thinking of you a lot ,being in the same sort of boat ,my advantage being ,i have other family closer to home that you have ,a fraught time for you ,but i'm sure it will ,sooner or later sort itself out.
Keep safe Brenda ,and watch yourself with the troubles ,in case it comes your way,if it gets too bad over your way ,i may yet cancel my holiday over in Fleetwood and get the riot gear out ,time this government got itself sorted out ,and got it's act together before the whole country goes down the tubes.
Catch you later all ,Fred. :-)

evening folks, the rain has held off for the rest of theday. Not sure what its doing tonight.
Had a good couple of hours with my friend ,but best of all I got a great bargain in Debenhams,a 3tog quilt that had duck feather filling with a 100% cotton cover,so it is all natural. It should have been £60 but with a couple of reductions in the sale it was only £18.00.What a baragin.I was going to get a similar one from M&S with some gift vouchers we have but it was £49.00 !!!!!
Hope you are all ok.speak tomorrow,Take care Brenda

Morning folks,I know you had rain fred saw it on the weather forecast and was thinking of you and your garden. We had some yesterday and early this morning, dry and drab at the moment ,going to see a friend at lunchwe would normally do a bit of a walk round the arndale and get any shopping we need ,but will not o that today, will stay near the tram stop so I will not have far to walk to get the tram home.luckily it is not Market day in Bury other wise the tram would be packed with people going there!!
I am realiseing That I can not do what seems an easy thing to some people Fred so After I have sorted out my neices hospital appointmments I will not be voluntering again,
Hope you can get sorted with the transport Dorothy,my friends husband had to give his car up because he did not listen after the first TIA? .I am hoping to keep my car as long as it lasts but the insurance and petrol are getting expensive,We keep saying we will doensize to just Johns car ,but i will feel a bit stranded if we only have one car.as I like to be out when he is at golf.!!!
Think you are right Fred about MIL etc but hope Lindy can see she has been hood winked that the separation is the best for them.!!
Hope the weather will not keep you off air for long Fred,in my friends area they are having problems with the copper wiring used by BT and Sky is being pinched from the boxes so they are withouit phones both BT and Sky as well as the tv???
Have to start getting ready to go see my friend ,can take a while these days. Take care ,Brenda

morning our Dorothy ,sounds as though you may be using public transport for a while ,but if you have a good system where you live ,why not/ at least you can let another driver take the strain ,lol :-).
If you stick to the doc's advice ,and watch what you are doing there is no reason to suppose you will have another stroke,i have dealings with rellies that have had a couple ,and no others after ,and you seem to be managing okay.
Come spring if you decide to get another motor ,go for it ,and good luck.
With all the water falling over here ,or it might be the solar flares ,i have lost my broadband ,and television connections ,ooooops ,the grand bairns will NOT be amused when they get up he he.
I Am using the T Mobile Dongle that i use when i am on holiday which seems to be doing the job okay ,which is just as well as Virgin media say it could be 5 pm ,before i get the service back [ i will be asking for a days rebate he he :-(.
I rather think it's the water getting into the cables though ,the amount of rain we had last night was really bad ,and it's looking to be starting again very shortly.
Must get on now ,other things to do before i get back here ,see you later all, enjoy the rest of the weekend ,Fred. :-)

hi everyone it is quite hot and humid to-day but I have a nice breeze on the balcony and the potted plants are still alive and blooming, had quite a lazy day to-day but it is saturday after all. I am going out for lunch with andrew to-morrow and I will ask him to stop by the library we will have to talk about the car it needs to be towed away to his mechanic and see if I can get a few bob! for the parts etc and then I shall have to decide about getting another not sure about that I still like driving but if the strokes happen again I know that they will take my lience I may just take cabs for a while and see how that goes and maybe see what his mechanic can find for me in the spring I do not want to clear out the bank account on a brand new one, the bus system is not great for me to get around town as there is not a bus stop near by , tonight we have a lynley on the tele I have probably seen it but can enjoy it again and to-morrow we get a new lewis, hope you all have a good week-end by for ow dorothy

badger Report 6 Aug 2011 08:32

Morning all ,from a very muggy Newcastle where the old garden hound has just been inspecting his domain ,lol :-).
Dorothy ,yep ,mother in laws can be a pain in the rear ,as can some mothers, either can be the death of a marriage which is a shame ,they should be there to support in advice only ,and then ,only when asked.
I did the same as your lad ,but i got my mum ,and mum in law in for tea,fed them to mellow them a little ,and then laid the ground rules in front of them ,saying ,you brought your children up in the way that you ,wanted ,and now i am going to do the same ,and thankfully ,i never had any trouble with my mums ,they turned out to be the best a man could have asked for.
My Daughter is down at the moment too ,realising that apart from two lovely kids ,the waste of space husband realised too late that ,this [second] time was the finish of their marriage and found he had lost the prop out of his life, same as you lad ,but for very different reasons.
Your daughter in law was never strong enough to stand up to her mum,and that's sad but as they say a marriage has ,a wife [one] and a husband [one ] nothing else will ever work, personally i would have gone to see mum in law and told her to butt out,but that left the lad with the wife problem ,so sad after all these years, but all you can do ,you are doing ,they have to sort it out themselves.
You are still overdoing it Brenda ,you are not helping yourself ,or your family ,and will land up making yourself ill again, you HAVE to slow down Lass, and make a little more time for you.
Do try the camomile tea Brenda ,i was astounded at what it did for me ,one bad night in two months is a result
Hope all are having a nice relaxing weekend, catch you later ,.Fred
:-)

hi brenda I recieved a long phone call from andrew to-day it was rather sad to say the least as he made it clear this seperation is not what he wants, I don't know if lindy is going through some mid life crisis or what. the moving out yesterday was apparently very emotional for her, as that old saying goes if there where 3 in that marriage it was her mother she is and always has been a very controlling woman where her 3 daughters are concerned and her daughters have never been able to say no to her and only one son in law has ever said no I,ll give you 3 guesses who that has been, lindys dad died 13yrs ago and we all have paid for that since I don't mean to make this sound like sour grapes but it makes me so sad to see lindy so under her mothers thumb. anyway things will work out one way or the other I just plan on providing support to both of them as you may tell brenda I am a little down this evening bye for now dorothy

Evening all.had a quiete day apart from taking my neice to the hospital,it has been raining and sunny in intervals.
I did not do too much for my sister just got her a few bits from the supermarket , and had a bit of lunch with her.
She wanted an anniversary card for her husband and something nice for a special tea. She could not ask him to get that for her,but he has been getting all the other shopping they need..and walking the dog and doing his job which is long hours.driving a delivery van.
Glad the family troubles are settling down on both sides of "the pond" as they say.i do hope things can stay amicable.

hi thanks for the words of support I do appreciate them, I have not spoken to either one of them as I thought I would give both of them a little time to adjust to their new way of life I also have to remember that andrew will be 45 on monday and is a very capable man but at times like this wether it is the right thing or not he becomes my son and I just want to make things better like I did when he was a boy but of course I will respect his decisions. again it is hot and quite humid and it is only 9am but what a wonderful summer we are having so no complaing. tennis starts on monday over here it is the canadian rogers cup and all the top players will be in toronto and montreal men in one place woman in the other with lots of tv. coverage so I will be happy about that. brenda I 2nd fred in saying take it easy while you are helping your sister hopefully she will recover soon. and fred as the female hormones will be in full bloom in your household learn how to duck all those women in one place wow. my attempt at a little humour they are after all lucky to have you. bye for now dorothy

Morning to all who turn up this fine morning ,where i hope it will last long enough for me to get out back and gather all the ready beans in for blanching before the promised ,heavy rain arrives.
Sorry to hear that you have like troubles to us ,but you ,like us ,are always there for when the time for picking up pieces arrives.
My son in law seems to have come to his right senses and has quit with the bitter blame game and has accepted that it was his fault that finished the marriage ,so now ,things can go on in a calm way.
From the way you describe what's been in the pipeline for a longish while, it looks like they are mature sensible people, that are already sorting their new ,seperate lives out.good luck to Both of them.
Catch you all later Peoples, including the bad leg sisters ,lol, what are you both like ? you make sure you don't over do it Brenda ,while helping your sis' out :-,Fred.0

goodmorning from a rainy barrie though we have had several days of hot weather so the rain is welcome glad you had a nice day out brenda and I hope your niece's treatment goes well, fred glad the move went well and that your daughter is settled in, well not sure how to write all this down on monday laura and Ian went to camp and my daughter in law told me that on wednesday that is to-day she is after 20yrs of marriage is moving out no other people involved she feels that they have come to the end of the road, they both are very involved in their work and this has become a problem, had a long talk with andrew who tends tohide his feelings and he is very sad and just kept saying I did not want this, she is moving down the road to number 51 they live at 26 and they will co-parent one week with mom and one week with dad, Iguess that is the new way of doing things of course I realize that this has to have been in the works for a while and I had no idea, I have grown over the years to love lindy very much and this has hit me very hard, and to add insult to injury my car has decided to pack it in it is 20yrs old and has been a good car so I have to decide wether or not I want to get another or just use taxi's as I don't do a lot of driving any more while I am healthy at the moment I do have concerns re the strokes re accuring . I believe that my grand children have been told about the new way of life and don't seem to be too bothered . I guess the gray rainy day sort of sums up my feelings . I just wish for both andrew and lindy calm roads ahead and will help in any way I can. andrew has not spoken about this to his dad who will take this very badly. boy oh boy life does hand out some strange turns does it not. will be in touch again soon bye for now dorothy

hope all goes well with you and your niece next Thursday Brenda and that you manage to squeeze a little shopping into your trip as well to make it a bit of r and r at the same time .
Our lot moved back in yesterday ,and suprisingly it went better then i thought it would ,so i think we will manage okay in the short term.
The waste of space husband showed his true colours as soon as she left the house ,by going on face book and spouting his mouth off ,spreading lies and utter tripe not caring that his children go on face book too ,lol, looks like he will shoot himself in the foot ,without me having to do a thing .
The garden is doing fine now ,and we are enjoying lots of fresh veggies ,with the fruit not far behind.
Hope everyone is doing okay ,busy day for me ,so i am off for now .
Catch you all later ,Fred. :-)

Hi Everyone, weather stayed dry yesterday and we had a good time meeting up with some friends for their birthdays,Did not manage to do any shopping ,but still had a good time,
Weather very changeable today, blue skies and sunshine, then dark grey and humid then black and heavy rain.!! Went with my neice while she had some treatment at the hospital today ,will be taking her Thursday as well and possible next week ,ITs a long way from where she lives and ,the actual treatment only takes a few minutes,so if she had to get the bus it would be hours on the bus for less than an hour at the hospital.!!
Hope everyone is doing ok,speak to you tomorrow,

Morning all ,from a very dull Newcastle ,the weather ,though a little warmer is still still without sunshine ,he he ,think Brenda's west country has nicked it all ,lol.
Sorry to have been missing for a few days ,but we have beeb cxhanging things around ready for tomorrows influx, but we are about there now ,thank goodness-).
of course ,us old folk ,are no longer spring chickens ,and both of us are tired ,and feeling a tad run down, after all the upheaval.
Today we have a treat ,this afternoon when the eldest son is taking us to Asda where he works to do our shopping ,using the family discount card that he has.
We are well under way with our cropping too Brenda, and we spoilt ourselves yesterday ,3 different beans on our plates ,home grown calabrese ,cabbage and asparagus ,with our beef and pork ,yum,i even did some little yorkshire's which i made from scratch ,no packets for Fred.
We got to see the Spitfire and hurricane ,along with the dc3 from Conningsby ,as they flew back to Newcastle airport after the Sunderland Airshow ,and we heard the Vulcan ,but never saw it ,i could swear i also saw a Canberra as well ,but the only place to fly them now is Wyton ,in Cambridgeshire, where they still have a squadron ,used for P R U work, but i never heard of a privately owned one
I have also been doing quite a bit of research into the wife's Larner family for her ,and have at last found her Gt Gt grandad Patrick in Galway ,ireland, but i don't think i can get back any further without paying an arm and a leg to do it. :-P.
Sounds as though you are getting even more rain than us Dorothy ,i think you could do with a load of helium balloons tied to your roof to prevent the house sinking ,we are a tad luckier being right up top of the hills overlooking the tyne valley,so i think we are reasonably safe from flooding .
Time to go and do some work ,sigh ,a house husbands work is never done ,lol :-) ,catch you later all ,Fred ;-)
